I was encouraged recently to visit the fine folks at AviD, a retailer of gothic wardrobe of all sorts of varieties, in both Men’s and Women’s wear. Now, while I admit fully that the closest I have ever gotten to being Goth was playing a White Wolf game in college, I still felt the urge to don one of their leather and trench coat outfits.

Find out what I think after the bump!

At L$ 790, many may balk at this outfit but I found it to be crammed with goodies, including two choices of undershirts, prim fittings for the trench coat, a rather fancy belt, boots, and a hip mounted cane to boot.
Everything is quite well made. The collar is designed to be easy to size, and everything is modifiable. The textures are detailed, if quite dark. About the only real negative about this outfit is the shoes, which look outdated and clumsy.

Their other works are along this line, with both mens and womens wear, as well as a wide assortment of Gothic skins for those who strive to be whiter than my NPR listening, Volkswagen-driving self. AviD is well worth the visit, despite being pricey.

Liking the vests, and the coat is VERY nice. But you are right about the shoes… a bit clunky..

Mm, not really that impressed, though the photosourcing was handled with care.
I’m not sure I like how the trenchcoat magically tucks into the pants at the waist, yet has pockets at the hips. The cuffs are a bit sloppy — it’s likely they aren’t even meant to BE cuffs, but sleeves, but that’s what they look like. I think L$790 for that quality is ridiculous. Still, if you found a few pieces that you can use with other things, it’s not a total loss. I’ve a feeling if the outfits you show here weren’t so dark, it would be even harder to defend it.
The collar is pretty cool, though. Bonus points for modifiability. And I actually quite like the belt.
@Naoki : To be honest, I had to use post-processing to brighten up the pictures, since I don’t have a lighting rig to use for screenshots yet. That, and I think I forgot to resize the cape.
790? Is that for real?
@Talon: WOW, how I didn’t notice how the coat is set up until I had gone to sleep and come back here and checked, I’ll never know. NOW I get it. The lower half of the trechcoat just isn’t sized to where the jacket ends. Noooow I get it.
The arms cut it off in the picture and my brain translated that to pockets. I see it now. On the plus side, good post-processing. I had no idea you altered the lighting.
