LaynieWear: New Items!

Well, ladies and gents (if there are any gents) LaynieWear has produced some lovely new items, and I had the opportunity to sit down with her and have a designer-discussion. Laynie is still a fairly new designer in SCD eyes, so we will continue to write about her until she grows her Fairy Fashion Wings and flys to unknown heights. :)

[11:53] Laynie Link grins
[11:53] You: You hand-draw all of your clothing, don’t you?
[11:53] Laynie Link: mostly… I work from a lot of photo sources, but end up painting almost everything
[11:54] Laynie Link: i end up running around with my camera, taking pictures of the strangest things!
[11:54] You: So you start off from a photo but it never ends up entirely photosourced.
[11:54] You: Is it just your textures that are sourced?
[11:54] Laynie Link: well, i’ll see a dress i like, and think “how can I make that…”
[11:54] Laynie Link: like the Vanessa dress… I saw Vanessa Williams in a dress very similar, and loved it
[11:55] Laynie Link: i ended up painting the whole thing, and it’s similar, but not the same
[11:55] Tenshi Vielle is a fan of Vanessa Williams.
[11:55] You: This new dress of yours looks very feminine in a punk kind of way. I enjoy it.
[11:55] Laynie Link: so i end up drawing from a mix of things… paper patterns, nature, all sors of things
[11:56] Laynie Link: thanks… i love pairing that top with a pair of jeans and a cowboy hat
[11:56] Laynie Link: throw on some funky accessories, and it’s a totally different feel
[11:56] Laynie Link: of ir you wear it with retro hair, it’s sort of 50s housewife meets rockabilly?
[11:56] Laynie Link: i dunno… hard to explain
[11:56] You: Like what I have on now.
[11:56] You: That’s what I was thinking
[11:56] You: I kind of need an apron jacket overlay for this :)
[11:57] Laynie Link: right!
[11:57] Laynie Link: *grins*
[11:57] You: something with a skull on it.
[11:57] Laynie Link: ohhhhh, that’d be so cute!
[11:57] You: So how long have you been in SL / been designing?
[11:57] Laynie Link: i started SL in october of last year…
[11:57] Laynie Link: my husband pointed me here, said it looked like something i’d enjoy
[11:58] Laynie Link: and i wanted to find clothes… but i couldn’t find anything that was really me
[11:58] Laynie Link: so in november i started making stuff for myself
[11:58] Laynie Link: and by december, people were wanting them :D
[11:58] Shai Delacroix is Offline
[11:58] You: So your line is the quintessential Laynie, then? Or do you take requests?
[11:58] Laynie Link: i do take requests!
[11:58] Laynie Link: actually, a lot of my stuff is suggested/requested by my “muse”… a good friend, Teagan Blackthorne
[11:59] You: Ah, the one from Savoir Hair?
[11:59] Laynie Link: we spend a lot of time looking at clothes and stuff online,
[11:59] Laynie Link: yea :D
[11:59] Laynie Link: we’re sort of partners in crime, if you will :D
[11:59] You: Understood. :)
[11:59] You: What one outfit that you’ve designed describes yourself, and can you model it?
[11:59] Laynie Link: the Teagan set was requested by her… she sent me a pic of one of her favorite shirts in RL
[11:59] Laynie Link: heh
[12:00] Laynie Link: yea… hang on
[12:00] Laynie Link goes digging
[12:03] Laynie Link: this is, hands down, my favorite outfit at the moment
[12:03] Laynie Link: it’s a little girly
[12:03] Laynie Link: a little rough around the edges
[12:04] Laynie Link: *laughs*
[12:04] Laynie Link: if only i could make accessories and hair, i’d never have to spend another linden!
[12:04] Laynie Link: who am i kidding, fallingwater cellardoor owns me :D
[12:05] You: She owns half of the SL Fashion World. She’d be the richest Gorean master if she was into that sort of thing. :)
[12:05] Laynie Link: no kidding!

[12:05] Laynie Link: the boots are shiny things- old laceup boots
[12:06] Laynie Link: the bangles are woo’s black and red leopard bangles
[12:06] Laynie Link: the red necklace is the shiny things knotted bead strand in ruby from the Gnubie store
[12:07] Laynie Link: and the choker is 74 Iron Baubles – Jewelry Set
[12:07] Laynie Link: a freebie i got off slboutique, made by Elle74 Zaftig
[12:07] Laynie Link: oh, and the hair… Gritty Kitty – Ministry, comes with the hat :D
[12:07] Laynie Link: the shirt is the Rita top from my store
[12:08] Laynie Link: and the jeans are a set I made months ago, but haven’t released, for some reason
[12:08] You: Well put it out there! :)
[12:10] You: Any parting shots before I slap this up on SCD? :)
[12:10] Laynie Link: nah, I think I’m good! :D
[12:11] You: groovy. :) Thanks for popping in, I’m going AFK now!
[12:11] Laynie Link: cool cool!
[12:11] Laynie Link: i’ll go back to working on new stuff :D
[12:11] Laynie Link waves

My outfit in this shot is one of the new dresses from LaynieWear that I hadn’t taken proper shots of yet. Forgive me! But it’s still cute as a button, even in this non-posed picture :)

* comes in one color (cherry print and black)
* set includes top, glitch pants, flexi prim skirt, flexi print tie

Elise Blue set from Layniewear. Adorably girlie, and totally in for summer. The sexy cut of the top is one of my favorite “lines” for women’s shirts – I own several like this in RL! :)

Close-up shot for the textures…

Laynie included an optional system skirt! Yay!

The Vanessa. Purple, elegant, and totally royal. The dress gives off a bit of a “velvet” vibe. Wrong for summer, but SO right when the winter formals come around :) Pair it with a cute sweater or shawl, and you’re good to go!

Optional system skirt, yay!

I had to put this with the pearl necklace from Yummy and the PC glasses. It was just too hard to resist.

This is also one of Laynie’s new creations, a pirate-esque outfit! Love the socks – and no, I don’t have any shoes on. The prims in this photo are conflicting with each other, so it really detracts from the full effect of the outfit. (Apologies to Laynie!)
