Juana’s Fashiologue: My Birthday Suit

Today is my birthday! I am 37, to be exact, a very dangerous age. Of all the days of the year to have a birthday, I have to say that having it on New Year’s eve is truly the best. I will take a moment to thank my poor mother, who suffered quite a bit when bringing me forth. Although there are occasions when I have wished she might have held on a little longer, I can say that it has always been a pleasure that the whole world seems to be partying with me on my birthday. One thing that I have done now for years is to have a kind of ritual where I buy the most wild outfit (or formal outfit, depending on my mood) and then go out to parties, and go visiting. I have given this custom of mine the name of “birthday suit” for obvious silly double entendre reasons. I thought this year since I am privileged to be part of the SCD family, I would include you all in this ritual visiting with a little peek at my RL “birthday suit” as well as showing you all my SL “birthday suit.”

Today’s extra special birthday jaunt is a really interesting concept sim called the Metropolitan Commonwealth of Nem. It is meant to be a vision of what totalitarian Soviet Bloc countries might have built if they had been really into art deco, and decided to be the setting of a Lady Gaga or Madonna music video. (Yes I am joking) It is really quite impressive. There are signs letting visitors know that work is still in progress, and indeed quite a few of the buildings I visited were empty, but it just reminded me very much of images of deserted North Korean cities with grandiose mammoth architecture, and intensified the ambiance.

This is what I think of your steenkin' dress code!

There is apparently also a video arcade there as well. I had a peep inside but was distracted by other things. The V shaped city logo that is to be found plastered everywhere, on all manner of available surfaces reminded me of the movie version of 1984. I really loved the vintage appearing Russian posters on the walls in random spots. I wish I knew some Russian to be able understand what they were saying. While in the theater I was amused to note that some of the exits that had labels that seemed to imply they led to another room but instead simply led out of the building into nowhere. I don’t know if it was just lag, or perhaps the unfinished state of some of the buildings but it did feel so very authentic in a hopeless Russian absurdist kind of way. Of course I flouted the dress code somewhat with my lingerie-inspired transparent get up, but it felt very right in a peculiar 30s socialist movie star sort of way. The shape of the headdress reminded me of kokoshniks and I thought some of the styling on the sleeve and the shape of the dress was vaguely reminiscent of Imperial Russian court dress.

Now….prepare to avert your eyes in terror….(ok maybe not)….

My RL "Birthday Suit" plus gratuitous ass shot.

I promised I’d show my RL “birthday suit” and here it is, along with the obligatory ass shot. I had originally planned to try to dress my RL body the same as my avatar, but things didn’t quite go as planned. I do think it is a very SL-ish outfit, though. This is the family donkey, Filimon, who was pretty annoyed to be part of the impromptu photo shoot. It makes me laugh because I have been told it was a very SL picture, and now I don’t know if I dress my body like my avatar or vice versa anymore.

Fashion Notes:

Juana is wearing a combination of Donna Flora lingerie and Fellini Couture outerwear (though its really more like a peignoir). They both seemed to go together splendidly and this was one of those magnificent accidents that happen sometimes when you are changing outfits in SL and pieces of your previous outfit are left behind. The skin is an older Nomine skin but one of my very very favorites. Despite being so very scantily clad seeming, I think this outfit is very much what I would expect to see on an actress from a 30s film, and as I mentioned before, to me it vaguely resembles a court dress (albeit a very deconstructed one).

RL Juana is wearing a collection of different pieces, from various places. This year I got quite a bit from Etsy, which has its own unique challenges, shipping and guessing sizes being one of them. Some things like my corset are old standbys–I have worn that corset to death it seems. And of course the boots are just insane–they are Fluevogs, which are the best shoes in all the world.

I can’t believe Halloween is fast approaching and I haven’t done one single halloween/goth/spooky related post. Must be the Glee the plurk community is force feeding me. (Sometimes, it feels like that scene in Clockwork Orange when Alex has his eyes held open). Then Ivey told me that Sn@tch released some new shirts for men along with pants. So I figured “Well, why not?”

There are no sparkles on this Vampire avatar.

If I go out into the sunlight I will not get all shiny and happy. Instead, I will catch on fire and leave a mess.

If I meet a marginally attractive emotionally sensitive girl, I will not “Woo” her or protect her. I will instead think “Hey…Big Gulp” and proceed from there accordingly.

I will LARP Vampire the Masquerade just to fuck with people and then probably drain them dry. Why? Because evil is pretty damn funny.

I will not live in a crypt. Or torture myself because I’m a “Monster” or some other emo drivel. I will instead live in a nice penthouse and I will enjoy the all you can eat buffet.

I will however have minions. Because Minions are pimp.

In search of my daily skinfix the other day, I TPed into Fishy Strawberry, only to find, to my dismay, that the store was closed for construction. Bummed, I pouted and slunk my way out of the store, making sure to whack the SOM so that I’d know when it’d be safe to return and perv out the pretty skins I’d seen here and there on the feeds.

Every once in a while, a sale happens that is so amazing, so fantastic, that I’ll actually leave my house to fight the lag. The 50% off sale at AO HARU is DEFINITELY one of those sales.

If anyone is NOT a fan of wintertime, it’s me. Â All the freezing cold temperatures and the bland white snow make me go a little bonkers, so each winter I spend a lot of time complaining and waiting (impatiently) for springtime. Â But now, thanks to the Albero Winter Sweethearts Festival, I might be just a teeeeensy bit more tolerant of winter!

Aikea Rieko of The Plastik has set out several gorgeous little ensembles at the street fair, and this one, Friday-Lovers, has stolen my heart. Â It comes with about a trillion different layer combinations so the pieces are easy to mash up with other favorites and as per usual, Kea’s work is no less than perfection.

And, as promised to a dear friend of mine, I’ve paired this fabulous ensemble with Exile’s Zoe hair, an interesting and unique style that adds just the right amount of edge.

It’s likely that we’ll all be hearing about Designers United III all over the feeds and grid-wide until it’s all over (and far beyond that, I suspect) But, though I am usually the type to rebel against the ordinary, DU3 was an event that I simply could not pass up the opportunity to share. As soon as I heard that some of my favorite designers were teaming up with a Vaudevillian theme for this Designer’s United, I knew that soon, my wallet would be empty, but my hard drive would be full of snapshots of amazing creations. I was certainly not far off in my assumptions – though I must admit that, while I bought a TON of items, I didn’t spend near as much as I was planning to!

This fancy frock from ~*RunoRuno*~ only set me back L$100, and includes all the frills and ruffles any girl’s heart could desire. Paired with the shoes from Anexx (only L$280 for the shoes with 2 sock options, plain black shoes, or black shoes with the socks included!) this entire ensemble was an absolute steal. The hair, from @Waffles! was only L$150 for a pack of two colors AND included hair accessories (a version with pearls and bows, or pearls, bows AND flowers). And, perhaps one of my favorite items, the new Tres Blah ‘Hiccup’ skins are available for $L800 per makup or L$3500 for the entire fatpack (which includes so many makeup, brow, and freckle options I thought my head would explode). But, this version of the skin, “Mummer” is available for only L$400!

Reporting for duty, prepared to go into uncharted sims, more likely to stomp than to march but nevermind, it’s close enough. First post for Shopping Cart Disco and I am absolutely cacking it, I hope with my inclusion into this (in)famous blog you can get to know me, what sort of things I like in SL and learn a little obscure UK slang at the same time.

I love this outfit so much, its the helmet I think, I have a thing for hats/helmets/headgear in general.Â It comes with pretty much everything you see here, the tank and bra come as 1 layer together or as seperates on all layers, the armwarmers/straps, the bullet necklace, the skirt, nice knickers on both pant and underwear layers and the dirty smudges under the eyes.Â The outfit is available at STÃœFF, (and yes, I had to google how to create an umlaut for the U).

The boots from Resurrection are unisex, great for stomping around and come in varying sizes from extra-small to extra-large.Â Not having to do any resizing makes me very happy indeed.

Poetic Color eyes are beautiful, I prefer the large version, the shine, the detail are perfect.Â I wear a few different eyes, but these are definately my favourites.

Monday Bloody Monday – #4 Pon Pon, PATAPON!

I love cute and weird little avatars, things that defy normality, even in the eyes of SL. My choice to todays antics was the lowly Patapon, though nto a force to be ignored, the avatar is cute and yet oh so sinister.

The Basic Patapon avatar costs 150L, and addon packs are just 50L each, outfits are 100L. I have the spear, the sword and the shield, and an extra hat for this avatar that I made myself, just because I can!Â The whole avater can be modified, so you can recolour it to be bright pink, or have the texture of a lizard, if thats your particular flavour of biscuit. The spear, when in mouselook – fires spears which disappear after a small period of time, it’s fun to charge upon unsuspecting victims, not that there are any, as you walk with this avatar, you are blessed with a cute melody of drums and little voices singing.

Patapon Avatar, Accessories and outfits from Orty & Friends

“The Patapon were a flourishing people until they were defeated by the Zigoton Empire. Hello you fabulous peeps!Â The mashup for today is classic casual.Â I was lucky enough to receive these wonderful pants as a gift earlier this week, and once I tried them on .. I knew I had to use them!Â I’ve never really been one to buy nice pants.Â Weird, I know.. but, as Ive said before… I’m more a jeans kinda girl!Â So, needless to say… when I fell in love with these, I was shocked!

I have so many of these tops, its not funny…. though, Ive always found it difficult to pair them with jeans or slacks that really suited it.Â I think these pants are perfect with this top.Â I wanted to keep the look simple and classic, yet comfy…Â Adding these cute flats I had stashed away did the trick!

By the way… Get a good look at this skin.Â Its unreleased… from Ryker Beck at Exodi.Â This is her lately creation called “Lily”.Â She was gracious enough to let lil ol me give it a drive… and once again, I’m in love!Â Look out for this beauty being released in the coming weeks!

Hello you fantastic SCD peeps!Â Once again, my RL has decided to me mean to lil ol’ me and making me a bit on the late side today.Â Hope this is worth they wait

Today’s look is a true mashup.Â Nothing is from any one designer… Yay!Â I was in the mood for something a lil rocker/good girl gone bad.Â But, tasteful heheÂ Lemme tell ya something about me…Â Anytime I can find a reason to wear a corset.. I’ll take it!Â I’m addicted!Â LOVE them.Â In so many ways!Â The corset, done well, is really very versatile!Â Especially a leather under bust corset to add the right edge to a look.

Apple May Designs Recently released a skirt set with this adorable plaid number.. so I had to snag it up.Â Pairing this fabulous find with a simple white top, leather corset, and tube socks.Â Topping it off with a necklace and earring set that I “love love love”.Â *teehee*

I think I’m in love.Â I’m in love with another Skin!Â The weird part is… I love this skin for something that I don’t usually like.Â I look BITCHY! Woot! heheÂ I love my avie… I really do.Â She is me in so many ways… but, she’s always had this “sweetness and light” feel to her that, quite honestly, Im sick of!Â So, when I tried the demos for the pre-release of new skins at Atomic… I was taken back by the stern look “Faith” gave me.Â I was instantly enamored.

One of my fave pieces in my virtual closet, is this fantastically low hip hugging skirt from LeeZu.Â Its functional and flirty… and I’m forever trying to find tops that compliment it well.Â Recently I made a visit to Naive searching for the new releases and discovered this adorable bolero in white.Â Putting together this look was a blast, because if game me another reason to whip out my Zaara jewels.

A New Dawn..

There have been days where I shuddered to lift my head from the pillows.Â When I truly wondered why I even bothered.Â Showered, coffee made, dogs out and fed…email sifted, overnight issues on Fusion Sims and RI handled..It struck me as being odd, as when I logged into SL today – I was met with a LM to a new sim opening.Â Normally, I immediately toss the blind landmarks away, it’s a pet peeve of mine.Â But for some reason I thought ..”what the hell”

In and out of shops, the lag bothersome, the fuzzy textures waiting to load.Â I was in IM’s as well as looking for the java IV so I could at least find some normallcy in my morning.Â I was just getting ready to head back home, and I peeked into the last shop.. slowly things came to rez in.Â Hmm..Rose Petal Creations – with Milady Rose Farina as the creator.Â Looking along and seeing a set of fancy winged items.. I was drawn to “Awakening” a winged fit of delicate ivory and it just looked … “angelic”

Of course I snagged it.. and raced home!Â See more after the cut

Wings.. usually NOT my style.. but something about this.. the whole outfit was just something I knew I would like.. I added Paper Couture’s Birds and Wildflowers powdered wig, and Pink Tourmaline Chandelier earrings.. shoes?!Â Umm.. not today – this outfit was complete…

Usually I am all about proper shooting in the studio, not today, today.. I was in my garden..filled with delicate blossoms and trees..Â waterfalls.. and my gorgeous pond with swans.. Reacher created this place for me – for me to create and just relax..what better place to do so.

Happy 4th everyone!Â Im keep this short and sweet today, as RL has me in a whirlwind of kids, grilling,Â fireworks,Â and hopefully.. BEER! heheÂ My family motto on this holiest of days… “Burn some meat, Drink some beer and Set some SHIT ON FIRE!” WOOOOT. haha

What a perfect outfit for the holiday!Â Cool, comfy and CHEAP! hehe I was browsing through group notices and what not and thought I’d stop by LVS to see what freebie goodies they offered for the 4th.Â There this cute lil number was!Â For a mere 1L you get this top in 3 colors… and another 1L you can choose these adorable (yes denim AGAIN) shorts in 3 different hues.Â Too cute right?

Plastik has some sexy new Half-toned capris out, a short denim jacket from AOHARU in pink, matching it with the uber cute tank that was a bonus from the fat pack of tanks Callie released was a MUST..and a sassy new hair style.. I was set..tossing on the hot slide on heels from PixelMode – a marrying of different creators pieces.

Digging through the heaps of boxes needing to be unpacked – the folder of “To Sort” being gone through, labeled and filed away, some tried on (to remember what it was) Lead me to pulling together this look – and noticing something that seems to be very popular – yet still not fully known are the effects that these lil scripted items entail.

Seems the use of scripts for hair, shoes, jewelry, clothing is growing more common – more and more to the point that.. every piece of jewelry I am wearing in these photos – are scripted, except the C-aluinn bracelet on my left wrist.Â The rest are all with resize, retexture, recolor – it’s all loaded.

Scripting of prims is especially for a ton of them is not an easy task, but a nice “perk” for creators to offer – one that I have a love/hate relationship with.Â I love the variety it lends, but it limits the self-modifying ability.

To move a link of a necklace up on the collarbone, NOT the whole necklace, edit the “old fashioned way.”Â Â I found the “This Prim” or “All Prims” and gave it a go!Â Worried as the piece was NOT copyable – I carefully zoomed in, and attempted to adjust the offending prims – I had stopped breathing – but with a steady hand, I moved, and successfully afjusted 22 prims and while it was easy to hit the adjoining prim.. I was done..and it fit right.

OnÂ to the earrings by Exodi.. touch and select the metal.. gunmetal worked well!!!Â Ryker did her own scripting – it’s easy! Effortless – and the metals are all in attractive textures – so a surefire win for me.

CCD – Caithlin Carter Designs has came up with way to offer the best of both worlds – the normal and “pure” – Pure being the scripted set – so you can select the type of set you wish to buy – and I really like this idea – so rest assured I will be going back.. and the delicate butterfly bracelet in pink is a favorite of mine.

JD Hansen – from JCNYÂ is a master, her designs are killer.. like this necklace – but seriously the scripts are too over the top – I love her designs – just the options are enough to truly make my head spin – the emitter poof when you put something on – like the ring – is just annoying – and it’s too MUCH for me – if i could remove the scripts – and wear it – I would be so be wearing more of her stuff – sadly – it’s not possible.

Scripts – when used within reason – I find to be helpful – there are some that have the “delete script” option is used – which I like – and I do understand with texture/recolors – it’s not possible – so is there a middle ground – a scripting workaround – would be nice to have one that is.

Hello you lovely SCD fans!Â Notice that I decided on a title for my lil spot here Â (Thank you Isle Lunasea for the “Mashup” suggestion!!!!)Â As I said last week, I’ve moved to Saturdays! Woot! The most fun day of the week! hehe

This week proved a lil hard for me coming up with a good mashup.Â I wanted sleek, simple and sophisticated…Â and pink!Â Needless today, there’s not a drop of pink in this!Â I’ll have to rummage through my closest to put together something chic and pink… the urge is still there!

Ok so, its not very flashy… but, does sexy really need to be?Â I love this outfit so much.Â It give the most feminine silhouette, accentuating every girlie curve.Â Ladies, and we all know a strapless number begs for a short coif!!Â Mimikri offers these lovely lacey strapless tops, that have become staples in my wardrobe.Â I’ve added a cute sequined belt to glitz up the look…Â *leans in*Â This is a really REALLY good way to use the tops of pencil skirts…. The squined bit is from a silver pencil skirt, also by Mimikri!Â Can you say, faux belt? hehe

Gotta love little touches of red

Black is aÂ HUGE staple in my virtual closest… I swear everything I wear, there is something black.Â I really have to explore color more! heheÂ I like little punches of color… reds, purples… things that black can really make pop!Â What goes better with a sleek retro pencil skirt than red velvet pumps from Maitreya?Â To top the look off,Â there are delicate additions of diamonds.Â Oooo the girls best friend!Â From the ruby and diamond drop earrings (Yes, I know… hiding in a mountain of curls!) to the ruby and diamond cocktail ring.. and then the diamond “tears” cascading down the cheek.Â I’ve been in the mood for a little.. va va va voooom! *smiles*

Argh ok so.. Ive been fussing over what to call my lil place here on SCD all week!Â This is my first post as an official member of the crew, and I wanted to have a cute, funny title!Â No clue!Â Tenshi suggested “Drawing a Blank”.. Man, I'm a sucker for good denim!

I am in looooove with this look!Â Im always trying to find classy, yet edgy,Â casual wear.Â I tend to be a tad picky.Â Its annoying, really. heheÂ I love these jeans from Luck Inc and I find myself going back to them all the time.Â It seems the ladies of the grid have become scantily clad thanks to the visions of CK and Cynthia… These jeans have the “signature” peek-a-boo bootyÂ going on, which is not really my thing.Â Even so, pairing with a chunky belt does the trick of hiding the plumber bits from my avie.Â

Sexy, sassy and still, classy!

Pairing these great jeans with the “Y Body Tank” from Cynful seemed natural!Â The styles from both places complement the other perfectly!Â Topping the look with my new fave jacket fro0m COCO is the icing on the cake!Â Adding a few simple accessories gives my look the perfect touch ofÂ edge.Â And, by the way… Ive not taken these awesome heels from J’s off since I bought them.Â They rock.Â Seriously.

Hello, I’m Lourdes one of the newest fashion bloggers here at SCD. Some of you may know me from my infrequently updated blog, The Cake is A Lie. I’ve been a SL resident for a year. Â I found the fashion feeds on day one and I’ve been in love with SL fashion ever since.

For my first SCD post, I’m going to show one of my favorite stores: Â Sn@tch. Â I dropped in recently and picked up 2 of the newest releases. The first one called “Nip Slip on the Red Carpet” is a cute and slightly naughty sheer deal. It includes gloves, Â a broach and also comes in several colors Charcoal, Champagne, Pink, White and Blue. Â I am wearing the Charcoal in the picture below. I asked about black on plurk and Ivey was so nice to make it.

The second item I picked up at Sn@tch was Drama (The Sheer Collection). It is a big collection. It comes with several shirts (on shirt and jacket layer) 2 pairs of panties, 2 pairs of tights, socks, bikini top, gloves… Ok just suffice to say there are alot of choices, Â and almost endless combinations. I am going to showcase three.

Also, there is a new Sn@tch VIP Group. It costs L$300 to join, but Ivey has always been so generous with gifts that you know you will get your lindens worth.

I don’t normally do ‘Fancy Dress’ in SL…I can count on one hand the number of times I have gone to a ballroom or club where the theme was formal wear.Â I am a ‘jeans/comfy clothes/funky outfits with an edge’ girl…but when I saw the number of gorgeous dresses and outfits at Mashooka Designs in Fusion Crossing, I was amazed.Â It was one of those “Why didn’t I already know this place before’ moments.Â

Her texture work is beautiful, and the colours are rich and varied.Â She has a wonderful Eastern flair with many beautiful cultural designs, as well as many day-to-day separates and tons of formal wear. I decided to highlight these 2 outfits to show that beautiful formal clothes can have kick too.

Don’t just leave fancy dresses in the closet, funk them up! Have a blast…that’s what SL is about.Â (Plus dressing up formally tends to bore me unless I can add guns, skulls or nasty monkeys that throw things. )

I was just itching for an excuse to wear this Baiastice_Eye Patch.Â It lead to the whole Semi-Piratey goodness idea for this outfit.Â For more fancy dresses, guns and skulls, click through.

The dress is :Mashooka: Amalia II, Beige. The Cavalier Hat was an xstreet find, (I <3 xstreet for enabling my shopping addiction when I cannot log in to SL) as were the Gold Hoop Earrings.Â Necklace, AGAIN, is the Davarraile by Genesis. I bought 5 necklaces yesterday for this outfit, and ended up going back to that same absolute staple by Ryker Beck. Hair is Ilia by Uncleweb Studio @ Le Look, Skin: *YourSkin & YourShape* ShopÂ (Adriana).Â Tattoos are Aitui.

I found this Leg Knife Belt by Shelly Toonie ofÂ Moonshine in a happy random wander at Fusion Crossing, .Â It seems I was destined to be a Pirate this week.Â Dragoon Pistols were another xstreet find. Belt by Maitreya, Boots by PixelFashion. Stockings by *Sheer* Torn Stripe faded.

From Pirate to Skullygirl… here is my take on this lovely rich cocktail dress. I don’t think the local ladies’ club would approve, -if they have a problem with it, I will get the pirate going on again and force them to walk the plank.

I normally never do hats, but 2 hats in one post.. wow.Â This little hat matches the shoes, ‘Succubus” by ::69::.Â Necklace by Paper Couture, Hair is Yasmin, by Maitreya.Â Bangle set is CreamShop.Â Cocktail Dress is :Mashooka: Nene, Red

If you want to try something fun, pull the skirt off this dress, and throw on a pair of jeans. It looks excellent.Â Top also comes with a gorgeous black lace insert and collar, but since it would have taken my tattoos off, I had to leave it off.

You should take a trip to Mashooka Designs and have a look around.Â From the cultural outfits to formal gowns, sweaters, scarves, shoes, jewellery and more, you will be pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a shop if you haven’t already fallen in love with it.Â I haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting or talking to the designer, Aradhana Voight, Â but I was so thrilled to find her work, and hope to see more of her designs in the future.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Aya Liotta and I am the latest addition to the Shopping Cart Disco insane asylum! Some of you may know me from Plurk, SLPosers, Flickr, Living, FILOS or RSVP&Co. I am a builder, self proclaimed fashionista, and probably one of the most opinionated people on the grid. I state my opinions openly so get ready for some controversial posts.

Since, I started in SecondLife a year and half ago I have had a passion for the fashion scene. I love all different styles, from Japan to the USA my style differs from day to day mixing the latest styles with old favorites from my endless inventory. The problem with Tya Fallingbridge is that she doesnâ€™t know what she wants to be when she grows up. This lady is just too talented for her own good and her store, Pixel Mode, is a perfect reflection of the amazing, if not scattered, work that she does. Now before I go any further I have a confession to make: Tya and I are pretty close friends. But donâ€™t let that little fact distract you from the amazing clothes, shoes, eyeglasses, nail colors, skins, hair, and prefabs youâ€™ll find on her island â€“ Pixel Dreams. Like I said â€“ sheâ€™s scattered. In a good way.

Since this is a fashion column Iâ€™m going to showcase her outfits and shoes mostly. Actually I couldnâ€™t find where sheâ€™s put her hair,â€“ true fact: Tya was the first person to release flexi hair in SL. I was there and I saw it. But most folks donâ€™t know that because for some odd unbeknownst-to-me reason, Tya and her shop are not very well known. I donâ€™t get it. I digress, however. She hasnâ€™t done anything new with hair for a long time and she might have discontinued it. Likewise I havenâ€™t seen a skin out of her shop for a couple of years.

All her textures are 100% hand drawn. She doesnâ€™t source anything. Now I actually donâ€™t care about whether or not a person sources but some people do. And I will say that if you source you have no business screaming about theft â€“ but thatâ€™s a different blog for a different time. However, those that hand draw all their own textures have nothing but my admiration. It is a metric buttload of work and takes a long time. It is also hard to do well and when you see the painstaking attention to detail that Tya has put into her clothing and shoe textures, I think you will be amazed as well.

Sheâ€™s been concentrating on boots and shoes lately so I thought I would focus on those although I do have a really cute dress to show you. So without further ado, lets get to the clothes and shoes, shall we?

I am wearing the Synch Dress in Red with the Kavika Shoes.Â Here is a close up of the shoes since they are fantastic.

So, Vivi, you might say, everyone has a pair of shoes like this.Â I’ve got 10 from Sylfie and 5 from Tesla.Â And its true and not to knock anyone else’s shoes but OMG Tya even puts the little doohickeys (I don’t know what they are called but they keep the heel from sliding and scuffing) on the bottom of the heel.Â Its that sort of thing that really makes me drool over her shoes.

But wait, there’s more!Â Check out these boots!

These are the Pixel Mode Ankle boots and couldn’t you just reach out and touch the leather? The photo distorts the top of the foot a bit but look at the band across the front of the ankle.Â That’s some nice texture work there!Â And look she’s even got that little squiggly chain holding the heart. Squeee!Â Ok its the little things in life that make me squee.

But wait, there’s more!

On top are the ever-so-stylish-omg-New-York-in-the-fall Posh Boots and the leather texture really comes through on these boots.Â Also they look good with frakkin everything.Â Down below we have the no heel Beebs boot created for our friend Beebo who wanted a good looking women’s boot without a heel.

Muism

So, I was sitting around, wondering who I could feature on SCD, and then it hit me! We’ve never featured Musim, one of my favorite shops. For two years I’ve drooled over whatever they’ve put out. I’ve loved the buttery textures and fantastic prim work, yet never mentioned it on the blog. Stupid Iris! So, let’s fix that.

I don’t know where you are, but here it’s getting bone-cold. I like to dress my av for the weather, so I made some amazing outfits with some of Muism’s newest items.

Muism’s Open Silk Shirt (Grey), Tartan Check Pants (Hunting), Chunky Scarf/Tassle (Multi-stripe), LS Sneakers (Cream/Red, Female)

Muism generally puts out lots of layer options, so mixing and matching is made pretty easy. The pants have details like the belt textured on, which I love because I can never get my prim belts to fit perfectly. Others may not think it’s that great, as they like to provide their own belts. The sculpted legs and sleeves are adjustable and many of the tops have sleeve-length options.

Another of my favorite things that Muism does are skirts. The texture is always so light and airy and feels like it’s just swishing around in the wind. The way they texture silk and satin is also lovely. It looks so soft and smooth, while the detailing is shown off.

Paper Couture put out thier new fall line today. It’s gorgeous with vibrant colors and light, airy fabrics. This season’s line is inspired by birds, so it’s replete with feathers and graceful lines. I actually braved the fashionista swarm and managed to pick some up. This is my favorite dress, Magpie, with some of the new jewelry, which is mostly rough-cut gems. The mask is free in the new freebie gift-bag, along with some tights, more masks and (I think) some jewelry.

While I was enjoying the peacefulness of my surroundings and looking at the cute lions, Kess who is a fan of “Meerkat Manor” advised me that the average lifespan of a meerkat appears to be about 10 minutes so being near predatory Lions seems to an appropriate locale. Okay, that’s a cheerful thought as I am standing in Le Zoo looking oh so cute and bright. Nice way to bring me down Kess, thanks a lot! Hahaha just kidding!

A Ladybug Costume. How Cute Do I Look?

Do I look cute or what? Hahaha. London Dailey has made a too die for Ladybug costume and it can be found at her store Pink Outfitters. Its a complete look for the upcoming Halloween festivities and includes skin, hair, prim lashes, shoes and of course this adorable dress. And as my friend Hallie Galli pointed out this skirt can be mixed and matched with other things in a fashionista’s wardrobe so easily! And the movement of the skirt is so fab. I know this for a fact since I made London dance for me when she let me see a preview of it one night while Hallie and I were carousing about Tableau. Dance little ladybug, DANCE!

This Pirate Say ‘Arrrrrrrr’

Celestial Studios, Kari, Torridwear, Zyrra Falcone and Lemon got together and decided to do a series of Halloween costumes, the first of which is Bootleg Annie to fullfill all your pirate desires! I had so much fun with this that I actually found pirate ships to play on.

Let me give you a quick rundown of exactly what you get with the costume (From Torridwear’s blog):

Full Bootleg Annie Set:

1. Hat wi’ hair in four special shades. (Kari & Zyrra Falcone)
2. Celestial Studios “V2″ prototype skin in light an’ tan wi’ bonus scarred versions (also includes lashes)
3. Shape by Ha’er Cole o’ Lemon
4. Full outfit includin’ jacket wi’ top, collar, eye patch, gloves, britches, belt, belt wi’ scarf, belt wi’ tails, skirt. skirt wi’ scarf, stockings, torn stockings, an’ boots! (TorridWear, Kari, an’ Celestial Studios)
5. Wee animation override set by Torrid Low tide (aka Midnight fer ye pirate noobs) that includes 5 stands, a sit, an’ keel haul.

Bootleg Annie comes with about a bajillion options. You might remember last Fall when Last Call and Celestial Studios did a collaboration called The Halloween Enchantress. Halloween Enchantress was a dress that came with three skirts, four hair colors, five (?) skins and jewelry. I think it had a shape, too, but I’m not sure. As much as I loved that costume last year, I think I actually love this one even more.

First, let’s talk about skin options:

Bootleg Annie comes with four skin options, two in each color. The skins are prototypes for a (possibly) new line of Celestial Studios skins that are smoother and more friendly to Windlight. You can have either Light or Tan (same makeup) with or without a scar. The pack also comes with prim lashes.

The sculpted hat and hair come as one piece. The review copy I received had red, black, blonde and brown hair, all of which you can see in this review. I adore this hair. I love how choppy it is and I love the detail on the little beads that are woven in. The hair itself is flexi (of course.)

In addition to the pants option seen above, Bootleg Annie also comes with a skirt. The textures on these are absolutely wonderful. I love the warmth of the suede here, and the sculpted cuffs and sash work perfectly with the jacket. It’s also worth mentioning that while so many of the outfit options are leather and suede (jacket, belt, boots, hat) they don’t ‘feel’ the same at all. You would totally believe that these were purchased at different times; they didn’t just paste the same texture over things and change the color.

The belt is really fun as well. I’m not usually a fan of belts, but this one is great. It’s got keys, a liquor bottle, a map and a telescope. Basically, everything a successful pirate needs!

The shape used here is the Bootleg Annie shape be Lemon and the poses are all from the included AO by Torrid Midnight. The AO also has a really great hand-on-hip walk and some really interesting sits.

I really like this shape. I’d never seen my AV so, erm, busty before and it’s certainly growing on me. I think I’ll use this shape again and that’s high praise coming from me. I haven’t changed my avatar shape since early 07 and can’t usually wear other shapes for long.

The boots are sculpted, baked and also pretty. There’s really no reason you’d wear these only with the costume. I love the folded top and buckles. They go great with all the Fall stuff I’ve bought so far, too. They’re no-mod, but include a resize script. It actually took about five minutes to fit them to my shins correctly, but then they worked perfectly.

Concord Clothing

Noelle Hathaway, formerly of Elle, Inc. sent me this outfit from her new brand Concord Clothing that I just had to show you.

I love pairing red and navy; it’s a classic combination that always looks tasteful. The top comes on multiple layers, as does the included tank top. The jeans come with classic, sculpted skinny or prim flare legs.

I really like the texturing on these. It’s not hyper-realistic or simple, but has found a clean middle-ground in the hand-drawn texturing landscape. I like the simple details of the collar on the shirt and waistband on the jeans. I love the shading; I adore when things are lit well enough to be interesting but not overdoing it.

One of the best things? The clothes are beyond cheap. The most expensive thing in the store are the jeans at $L100. This would be a great place to shop if you’re on a budget but still want to look clean and classy.

All in all, Concord Clothing gives me the feeling of American Apparel mixed with Macy’s. You get versitile, classic pieces with clean lines that you can mix and match.

Moonshine Fine Clothing

I was standing about in Victorian underwear, as you do, and pondering my failure to write about clothes for at least a whole week, when I got a FashCon notice from Moonshine Fine Clothing. Being conscientious, I read it and discovered that I quite liked the dress in the pictures. Yes, I’m edgy, I know. It’s just something one gets born to.

As you can see, the Silhouette dress is a cute black’n'grey number that comes with four exciting colours of leggings. Though I have only taken pics of three of them, so as to maintain the element of surprise should you decide to visit the store. I’d been meaning to drop by since I picked up a freebie at the Hair Fair, but I never got round to it because… err… I had to feed my giraffe?

I’ve paired the frock with some huge bastard boots from Lassitude & Ennui, and some hair from ETD. Skin is the one I always wear, which is from Sin. I need to explore more skin options so as to keep abreast (see what I did there?) of fashion and style and those other things.

Fishy Strawberry and Bare Rose

Hi, I have tried to follow advice on how to get my pictures to look slightly better. Hopefully this will make SL look better than SL looks to me!

First up is this dress from Fishy Strawberry, which comes with an optional bra in case you don’t want to show off the sides of your beautiful pixel breasts. Otherwise you can show off your glamourous curves, which to be honest I have mostly been doing. Fishy Strawberry is full of cute hand-drawn things and I would have bought more but I’m saving up to buy a slave to do boring tasks for me. The floor of the shop has a heartwarming tale about a lonely fish who makes friends with a strawberry. The Lonely Cod indeed. This dress shows enough that you won’t be lonely anymore, instead you’ll have a lot of new male friends in white t-shirts with no Payment Info On File. Though perhaps not, as it’s modest by SL standards. It contains no bling either, which may put some men off.

The next New As In New To SL thing I bought was “White Mist” from Bare Rose, which was under 150Ls like most of the things there. I don’t quite know what I’d call this look. Hmm. Elegant Hotpants Aristocrat? And you say “Chav, you haven’t changed hair for this!” and that’s because it’s my latest hair purchase, from Abyss and it was 250L per colour so I wanted to get my money’s worth from it. It was, shockingly, my first trip there, and I was rewarded with the sight of a naked man trying on skin. I’m sure he could have been mine, if only I hadn’t gone over to stare at him rudely. In any case, this outfit is full of delicious detail and sensual sculpties, certain to make it look like you spent way more on it than you actually did.

Next up is another bit of Bare Rose, in the form of this sculptie-laden top. I mixed things up a bit here with some new Pixeldolls jeans rather than the ones it came with, because I’m just that daring. I’m not entirely sure about the sleeves myself, and have been mostly wearing it without them because it looked a wee bit like I had wings. They’re seemingly supposed to not quite meet the rest of the top, which displayed more innerÂ shoulder than I was happy with. (The shoulders being by far the most pornographic area of the body.)

Shoes in all are from Shiny Things, because I only just found the Reduced section and filled my inventory with various black heels. Skin is from Sin, because I rarely change my skin because I’m like “What happened to my faaaaaace?!” That’s a special psychological condition also known as failing at Second Life fashion.

New Hotness

Like most fashion bloggers, I tend to prance off to the “hot new thing” (HNT) when someone opens a shop or releases something that looks especially impressive. So, true to form, I trotted over to Kari, a new installation by Menno Ophelia. Word on the feed says we’ve been waiting ages for Kari to open, but I have to admit ignorance on that point. But–needless to say–I was impressed. and wanted to show a little love to this great new shop.

As for the particulars:
Jeans – Completely casual, these jeans make me want crack open a bottle of beer, prop my feet up, and listen to the crickets get it on from my porch. The textures are deep and dramatic–completely touchable. I admit, I shy away from clothing that has obvious labels (these jeans have “Kari” on the right pocket and on the right hip), but now that I’m wearing them and enjoying the look, I’ll just ignore it.

Hat: The last time I bought a hat, it was attached to hair (so I knew it would fit). And even then, I wasn’t completely satisfied. Menno’s hats (four different styles to choose from) don’t have demos available, so I took the plunge after seeing the stellar sculpt shape. I am not disappointed! I moved three strands of hair to make this fit, and that’s nearly a miracle as far as SL hats are concerned. Now I’m listening to songs from the musical Newsies and being a complete dork. Oh, did I mention the hats are color-change? Woot!

Top: MAiiKI was another HNT, providing more amazing textures and sculpt work. Possibly because the two designers are already SLebrities, the prices were some of the most inflated I’ve seen on grid. But of course, it’s a HNT, so we must buy it anyway! This top is from the “Streep” outfit, and thankfully lends itself fairly well to mix-and-match. I absolutely adore the color combination and neckline.

Shoes: While Kari sells similar high tops, I am absolutely loyal to the AKEYO Chucks. I almost (almost!) feel guilty about wearing such blatant virtual versions of the Converse All Stars. But in my view, no shoes on SL come close to the 3D realism and the abundant options for color customization.
