Oh and one more thing- to be covered under the Â§ 512(c) of DMCA (Safe Harbour Status) one must â€œnot receive a financial benefit directly attributable to the infringing activityâ€. Now ‘in A&M Records, Inc. v. Napster, Inc., [11] the court held that copyrighted material on Napsterâ€™s system created a â€œdrawâ€ for customers which resulted in a direct financial benefit because Napsterâ€™s future revenue was directly dependent on increases in user-base.’ (yeah wikipedia quote just stay with me).

Basically if LL charges 30 percent commission on all sales I think they will receive direct financial compensation from infringing material. Hrm: replace Linden Lab with that sentence: Linden Lab’s future revenue was directly dependent on increase in user-base” If that is the case then LL can lose their Safe Harbour status.

Will there never be infringing material if we have the content creator registry? I doubt it.

Myth #4: In option #4, Linden Lab is proposing a Mall. Boy, do I wish weâ€™d chosen a different word, now that we better understand the connotation of it in world. Yes after 6 years we still don’t get what happens inworld and are trying to understand things like these so called “malls”. A bunch of stores in the same location, what a concept! As I read on the ‘offical new forums that are really just threaded blog comments’ say goodbye to the Second Life we once knew.

This will never happen, it’ll more likely be they raise tier fees again and THEN want up to 30 percent sales commission. I’m not stupid, see the ‘pattern of non-listening’ if LL needs to wonder why I have this ‘pattern of negativity’ when it comes to LL announcements.
