What Mesh Standard Size Do You Most Commonly Wear?

I am using the sizes from this package on Marketplace. I believe if a store commits to ‘standard sizing’ they are using this package or something similar. If I am incorrect please correct  in the comments.

If you are aware of other standard sizing packages – please put that info in the comments.

If there is a brand that has XL and XXL sizes that you like – please put those brands in the comments if you wish.

You are allowed 4 answers – one for upper, one for lower, one for fullbody, and one for good luck ;-) (Some wear S or XS for upper or something)

I will ask about Men when the men’s standard sizing is settled (and if it is then you’ll see a poll soon about it)

Poll ends 4/25/2012

  1. Ooh I was the first vote. xD Anyway, I wear a small in everything but my boobies, even though they aren’t very big, so I most often go with the medium. If I shrink my bust in a bit I can fit a small pretty much perfectly so I have a different shape for that but most often I forget about it and just wear the medium. :P

  2. Tend to use s/xs. Small for upper, XS for lower and the only thing I generally have to fix is my bust. Tyr has a whopping 60 size bust, and for mesh I usually go to 45/50 depending on the maker. I dont really ever have to change my lower body unless it’s boots because I have tyr a bit knock kneed, helps with wide hips to bring in the whole hour glass shape. Since Boots are made with 50/100 in mind for the knock kneed deal, have to adjust or it clips.

I love standard because I rarely have to change much of anything. It wont ever be perfect but unless deformers magically become less buggy, and are picked up by LL, mesh will always be compromise. But honestly? i’d rather wear mesh than most other things, and mesh looks a million times better than sculpt. Happy fix my bust andwear a mesh shirt, instead of an ill fitting/doesnt move right with my AO sculpt top attachment to chest/spine.

The standard sizes don’t always seem very standard to me. I can be anywhere from a XXS – S. However I do have one dress where the smallest size is even a little chunky looking. I find in general it’s not always easy to look slim in mesh. The assumption seems to be that we’re all curvy and I have tried on styles that look surprisingly matronly. Looking forward to the day when mesh can be modded to actually fit.

  4. Deoridhe Quandry says:

I am usually a large, but when I can get an extralarge top, I do, so I don’t have to make my breasts smaller. I actually upped my fat recently to fit a pair of mesh feet, though, which made me giggle.

  5. It’s not always about whether or not it fits me but if the item is in proportion to the parts visible around the mesh. So if a bottom in an s or xs look bulky or odd with my torso, ill shrink myself down to the xxs ‐should it be available‐for the best overall look…. if that makes sense. So for myself small sizes are very appreciated.

  6. I don’t fully understand how ‘standard sizing’ was developed. XS comes closest to my shape, but if i try to make my shape fully fit to XS i looks ridiculous: too thin arm, too pressed together boobs, too small waist in relation to the hips … in other words, just cartoonish distorted. The same happens if i try to ‘enlarge’ my shape to fit S. I know its hard to find an average standard, but why does it has to be a complete unproportional one. I thought its all about looking as real as it can get, not as dollish as it can get.

  7. Ugh. I haven’t bought any mesh clothing yet because it sounds like it’s an absolute pain in the ass to get it to fit properly. And I like my shape just as it is, and am reticent to have to an inventory full of tweaked and adjusted shapes to fit the different creators clothing.

Completely agreed; I have quite a bit of mesh, but I won’t buy anyone’s mesh without a demo(hinthintcoughcoughbeansterpotatoplzmakedemosiloveyourstuff) and I imagine it will be much more useful once the “deformer” bit works. I tend to wear L-XL… and I don’t even have a big avatar, she’s just not buff. In items that are one size for top and bottom I am generally screwed, because if they fit my butt they’re always huge around the boobs… as if to have any ass at all once must want to have giant boxy tits. I find the shapes people seem to be making mesh for unfortunate-looking… and that’s being kind.

  8. Usually my avi fits into xxs or xs, without me having to fiddle with my shape. Sometimes though, I need to choose s for uppers, mostly because of how an item is “cut”. And sometimes it seems that the way how something is rigged influences the overall fit, too. (I’m no expert, so I might be wrong assuming this).

  9. I can’t wear standard sizing well because I’m very tall and curvy. It alters my shape too much to modify my body to fit it in most cases. I could wear a large if the chest width wasn’t so wide, but in everything I’ve tried I had to have very low body fat to be able to fit in the arms and legs of the clothing. There’s a wide gap between medium and large in SS that could be filled in with an alternate large, then adding possibly an XL and XXL I think that would cover most avatars. That’s what I’m doing with my sizes anyways.
