The blog borg of RUNWAY has changed, with the deletion of a few blogs, including SCD, that rose a stink. It’s still double posting formats, but of blogs like Rezzable, SLex in the City, Brinksie, Juicybomb, Shayariels World of SL and Sways Creations. Anyone who claimed previously that they have nothing to do with RUNWAY on their blog post seems to have been removed.
The RUNWAY of SL blog now has a little blip on the righthand side, which claims:
“This blog is no longer monitored. Syndicated posts link to original content provider and are not the responsibility, creation or property of RUNWAY SL. Syndicated feeds are published by fashion category from the originating source. Our Twitter feed will be closing and will no longer be active. Our Plurk feed will be closing as well. RUNWAY SL has officially closed and is no longer accepting advertising. RUNWAY Productions has officially closed and is no longer accepting production contracts. The RUNWAY SL website and blog will remain intact to provide access to the magazine archives and show archives only through expiration of the domain in 2010.”
Thanks, but you’re still a bunch of assholes. There are still syndications being done without the knowledge of the original content provider, and that’s STILL plagiarism despite the brand-spankin’ new disclaimer on your site.
The URL for the blog itself has changed to be nothing but Flash slide shows of RUNWAY in the past. The Fashion Planet of SL is still aggregating the RUNWAY blog, featuring double posts of the aforementioned writers, one post attributed to the original writer, the other post attributed to RUNWAYofSL.
As I claimed before, someone is still behind the scenes pulling the strings and watching. This change proves it. Since the RUNWAYofSL.com domain is up for sale, our best bet as a blogosphere would be to complain directly to the host, at http://helpdesk.bluehost.com/index.php/contact under the “Terms of Service/Abuse Complaints†option.

your tag made me laugh . thks for the update ! will definetly complain
And people wonder why I no longer want any part of this whole ‘model’ scene? lolol
Here is a heading of one of many recent blog posts on SL Fash Feed.
“RUNWAY Magazine: I’m still alive
”
How apt. It’s like a zombie….it just keeps coming at you.
Blabla they say its closed, then CLOSE the damn blog site all together!! This is soooo annoying
Or at least turn off the damn syndication…which, as I understand it, no one asked to be part of anyway.
Tenshi, Did you have to choose that cover to put up??? I had nothing to do with any of this, I was just an employee. And I am shocked and saddened by all the news like everyone else. If there was something I could do to end this mess, believe me I would have by now.
Well, it was kinda what I had in stock, so… *shrug*
Believe me, no one’s attributed this mess to you.
the image doesn’t even load for me wtf
This is the best magazine cover in the history of the world. It proves LSD gives you flashbacks years later. And Payton? Believe it or not, not everything is about you.
Oh yeh! Almost forgot. Not everyone was shocked and saddened. I was happy to see the curtain rise on the ‘man behind the curtain’.
I remember doing a combined show with the Runway models and the Miss Virtual World contestants as part of the lead up to the pageant. As a member of the Runway team, Payton was so professional and one could see that she was a dedicated, hard working person who held it all together during the rehearsals and the show. I can see how hard the Runway debacle would have been for you and your colleagues knowing the countless hours you would have dedicated to making the agency a success. It was by virtue of the loyalty and skill of Maggie’s staff that made Runway what it was.
I can’t imagine anyone thinking badly of you and so I say, that photo of you on the cover is beautiful and enjoy the fact it’s had an airing again. You guys are as much victims as those who lost money, actually more so.
No one wants you Jonny anyway.
“Tenshi, Did you have to choose that cover to put up??? I had nothing to do with any of this, I was just an employee.”
Straight from Miss Heron herself…that she was an EMPLOYEE. Yet she won Model of the Year together with Jonny -who nobody wants- Tobias.
hmmm, fishy….
Hmmm… Did anyone else read this blog?
http://brokeandnotorioussl.wordpress.com/2009/04/09/loots-thoughts-on-bosl/
I thought this comment was interesting:
“So far one party has escaped this scandal unscathed – a member of the RUNWAY editorial staff with close ties to members of a rival magazine of RUNWAY, who had already planned to leave before Maggie’s sudden departure. This staffer was present at the merger meeting and appeared to support the original decision. Suddenly, it appears that staffers from a rival magazine were involved in spreading a false version of these events to key people and to several blogs (screen shots of the chats exist and have been circulating) before the ink was even dry on the arrangement, which was reached in good faith between BOSL and the RUNWAY staff. I wonder if that story will ever see the light of day? One hint – this ex-RUNWAY staffer has already accepted a Magazine position elsewhere.
Ask yourself – whose interests would be served by killing off RUNWAY and stopping a merger which COULD have saved it? Follow the trail.”
- Payton:
“If there was something I could do to end this mess, believe me I would have by now.”
- Jonny:
“And people wonder why I no longer want any part of this whole ‘model’ scene?”
Payton, there is something you could do. As a “well known SL top fashion model and marketing guru” you could tell us designers something about RUNWAY’s 75K and BOSL’s 100K. If you know what I mean.
Jonny, do you think that you, as an Ex BOSL model manager, could help her with that?
Hmmm Sxy2nd – Vain – Avenue – BOSL. Lots of the Runway staff worked for other mags by looking at the credits given.
Where are these fabulous chat logs that are “circulating”.
One key staffer who left was EmmZ Tzara – she went to Sxy2nd. Wonder if she had that in the hopper before Runway announced.
Vera Canning was a Runway photographer – she worked for Avenue – was it her? I have also seen her pics in Prim Perfect.
Kay Fairey – BOSL and Vain.
Maybe it was Molly Dench – she was ‘retiring’ from Runway – a couple of issues back, she mentioned that in her column. She also wrote for Prim Perfect.
My money is on Vera or EmmZ. Avenue and Sxy2nd would have the most to benefit with Runway out of the way.
In response to questions asked ……I was part of the RUNWAY model group beginning in April 2008. I became an employee to develop RUNWAY Productions in October 2008. I had nothing to do with the magazine outside of modeling and never had anything to do with finances…just event production and editorial photo shoots. If you want to know about magazine issues, M0lly Dench abd EmmZ Tzarra are the ones who might know more.
Both Maggie and Ocean were the only ones with financial information.
“My money is on Vera or EmmZ. Avenue and Sxy2nd would have the most to benefit with Runway out of the way.”
Michelo – SXY2ND is in no way a direct competitor of RUNWAY Magazine (or BOSL, Avenue & Vain for that matter), we do not focus on Modeling or the Fashion Industry at large, but instead on the sexier side of everything SL has to offer.
I am very pleased that EmmZ Tzara has joined us as the Fashion Editor for SXY2ND, I did not however, in any way approach her prior to the ruckus at RUNWAY and the subsequent failed merger with BOSL Magazine had been played out.
I really don’t understand the need to perpetuate multiple dramas surrounding the RUNWAY fiasco. I think we all agree that Maggie and Ocean’s behavior toward their staff, and to those who trusted them with money was irresponsible and the recent RL revelations about Maggie very disturbing. The nonsense with Runway’s Blog ‘Machine’ and the problems it is causing is something none of us are happy about, and needs to be resolved.
… now can we move on?
I had nothing to do with any of the finance side of things just management, which entailed really getting shafted financially (and in the wake of reading these figures I now know to what extent) for the time I sank into whatever projects I was working on. However if you really want to know what I know about figures that were discussed with me, what payments were to each involved party etc. please send me an IM and I will be glad to let you know all about what I know. If I knew that those kind of figures were being bandied about I might rethink my statement I made above and get back into it all, lol.
So yeah if any designer really wants to know anything about what these kind of places have to offer in regards to marketing and effectiveness I will gladly give you an insight into the information I acquired during my stint within the industry. I am an open book, even though these people I now know have this much to lose on any given deal will try to discredit me at any given opportunity, but really, in light of these things, who would you listen to? Just flick me an IM and I will let you know the score and you may be surprised at the way things work.
As for Anessa’s comment of trying to avert any attention to these dramas, I really think that she is being naive to just think that this situation hasn’t left a big cloud over the whole model scene in general. The fact that the feeds are screwed is a daily reminder of it, so there really is no just moving on. I think the fact that too many people have been so blind as to just overlook things such as the Miss Universe non-payment scandal in the past has culminated in this fiasco, and really in future, there has to be alot more research done by any designer before they sink their hard earned $ into any marketing scheme presented to them within the SL universe, so as to not come out tainted, or ripped off as has happened in this instance.
As for the use of THAT cover, well I had my own issues with it myself when it was taken and I will be glad to elaborate further on that if you IM me lol. However in this circumstance, I think it is rather fitting that the most scandalous cover in SL history graces these pages, and it honestly makes me laugh and chuckle when I see it and when I think of what could have been…..
Hey Emmz and Payton and Anessa ROCK so hands off. LOLLLL
gawd the drama.
I cannot believe this is still going on …. Log off SL for 10 days, come back and the runway drama is still going on . Can we find another controversial drama to read about ?
I think all this targetting of individuals inot directly involved in this so called saga is outta order. Its a form of bullying and this is how people’s names get tarnished for no good reason. The only people responsible are Maggie and Ocean and they are not here to answer questions .
Just to add to above … everyone reads stuff, then whispers start, then everything as usual gets out of control. Most of our avatars are professional people in RL 30 years +. You would have thought half the sagas ( new word for drama as it gets on my nerves hearing the word ) are started by kids, the way everyone carries on.
Ok rant over, enjoy the weekend people x
It is sad that some of the staff and cover girls will just move to the next liar without learning anything from what RUNWAY did to the fashion and designer community with their lies.
I’m sure we’ll enjoy another “Meet Anessa Stine”, soon. On BOSL.
I just wonder if she really believes that the cover will be seen by 100K residents delivered through 17.000 kiosks. LOOLLL
“The only people responsible are Maggie and Ocean and they are not here to answer questions .”
Wholeheartedly agreed
I know the internet is serious business and all but people lose their jobs in the real world every single day because of all sorts of reasons beyond their control and I think there’s a little perspective needed here.
So a magazine folded and people who had put in hard work during the time it was open lost a job. That blows, yes, but at the time you were doing that hard work you were compensated and flattered and the whole sl world kissed your butt so cmon now, it’s not like it was some thankless task you were forced to do. You did it because you enjoyed it and you can go do it elsewhere too, with some big names and fantastic networking contacts that you wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for this experience.
The people who are out of money owed to them or for advertising space paid – that’s shitty, no one’s gonna argue that.
With all this said, I do love it when Tenshi puts on her detectives hat. I don’t mean to be overly critical of SCD and hope it doesn’t read that way, I love this blog. But my tolerance level for internets dramuhz and general waaah is pretty low.
“Never, “for the sake of peace and quiet,” deny your own experience or convictions†– Dag Hammarskjold
We’re talking about sharing opinions and thoughts here. Have we become such a group of sheep that we believe because someone has a cover to their name or a title that they should be held to a different level of accountability? I’ve seen people in this “beautiful” industry that are respected and revered behave in cruel and unspeakably unkind ways.
Because we have anonymity with our avatars doesn’t make it ok.
Nicely said, @Want to Scream.
Very well said @Want to Scream.
The phrase “beating a dead horse” comes to mind whenever Runway is mentioned.
@ Jula – I couldn’t agree more dear.
@ Michelo – *Gasps* Maybe it was the guy doing the magazine layout too!! Seriously?.
“So far one party has escaped this scandal unscathed”
Bullcrap. The main people who have apparently escaped the scandal THEY created, are Maggie and Ocean. Ocean high-tailed it out of SL a few days before April 8th (the day Maggie posted the blog of them leaving). Maggie was supposedly only online to wrap up business, finances and to pay her dumped staff and advertisers.
In her “final response” blog, she stated that the sim was sold, funds were transferred to her and she would be paying the advertisers and staff. Note, this blog was posted on the 12th of April. It’s now May 3rd. And, last I checked…Maggie Mahoney’s name is still coming up in people search.
Personally I think she’s not going to pay anyone back and that’s fine with me now. I just want to see her name gone and I certainly want this Runway saga to close.
Poor dead horse.
Fug Cover is Fug.
