Hey Kylie, I’mma Let You Finish…

honeywegetit

Okay. I have a major problem with today’s post on Vain Inc.

One – it’s quite possible, entirely, wrong. Kylie Wulluf over at Vain is freaking out because a Linden name appears on a stolen item. Skins.

It’s a known process that you can take a Library skin and throw the new textures on it, thus retaining the original Linden creator name. I doubt a Linden actually ripped off this content and is dumb enough to be passing it around.

[8:10]  Tenshi Vielle: So do you mean last owner?
[8:10]  Second Life: User not online – message will be stored and delivered later.
[8:13]  Kylie Wulluf: pardon?
[8:14]  Tenshi Vielle: Where did the Linden name appear, what’s the Linden name on the stolen skins
[8:16]  Tenshi Vielle: Is the Linden creator? Last owner? What’s the name?
[8:16]  Kylie Wulluf: okay, Gostoso Bernard was the guy who passed the folders out to random people…when looking at the folders through properties the owner name was still in his name..like the armidi clothing, cake hair, etc…and then when i got a folder of abyss skins, they were in the owners name of newbie_template liden
[8:17]  Tenshi Vielle: That’s the Linden name?
[8:17]  Kylie Wulluf: so im guessing to hide their name, they stole a lidens template, attached the name onto it, so it appeared as a liden
[8:17]  Kylie Wulluf: yes

I encourage any of you that may be new to learning about content theft to join one of the several content theft groups out there to ask your questions to and have them answered… somewhat privately.

I kind of can’t get over how insane that post is. Did she just kind of fire off that post without thinking and leave it up? It’s embarrassing.

      BIG DEAL? WHO CARES TENSHI!!!!!!!!!!!

SHE WAS TRYING TO WARN PEOPLE? SHE MESSED UP! WHO CARES??????????????

OMG. and THAT is good times. I just nearly shot coffee out of my nose.
LOOK OUT WOODWARD! There’s a crack investigative journalist on the loose!

You’d be surprised how many people don’t know specific ‘generally knowns’ about Second Life. I’ve encountered store owners that can’t figure out how to box an item. I’ve also encountered store owners who can’t place a script in a vendor or can figure out how scripted vendors work. Advanced texturers who can’t place a texture on a single prim face. I could go on and on. I’m not saying I know everything but if I am unsure I ask a resident who is older/smarter than me or ask the wiki.

oh wow what a drama …

Gostoso Bernard’s account gone. Went to add him to estate ban list…

  7. ohwow says:

Gostoso Bernard’s account has been removed. Went to add him too to the ban list. On the positive side, she did let designers know about him and thats a good thing! I believe you knew what she was trying to say and you did this post for your own satisifaction of humor, which it’s not funny.

    • admin says:

I don’t find her post funny either. Many people were already taking it as gospel and screaming, “THE SKY IS FALLING!” when really Kylie’s post wasn’t written in a clear, concise manner and anyone could have interpreted it any number of ways.

  8. StellaWasTaken says:

I doubt she asked anyone before going forward. Puts an extra level of panic when you add a Lidens name to fraud. Kind of like yelling fire in a crowded room. How many people will be disuaded from creating if they think Lindens are theives. Although I don’t believe Lidens to be saints…but that’s another topic.

Anyone else puzzling at the hypocriscy of that statement?

  10. Baily says:

oh that’s a bit shameful LMAO and that folder has been around for yonks, didn’t she even know that much!

    • Tiasha says:

And now let’s tear down a blogger who just wanted to inform people of what they thought was legitimate content theft. No different than what is done in this blog on a regular bases. Pat your hypocritical backs. Gotta love it.

  12. Raine says:

That Kylie girl is a horrible blogger. Posting things like “OMG U GUYS NEW STUFF!!”. She really needs to learn how to write better and get better resources before she blogs as we have seen here. I guess Vain Inc. is hiring anyone these days….

    • Sam says:

HAHA Raine! Actually shes very sweet and good blogger, i think you guys are cruel pathetic people, get off your ass and blog lol, and i think she might have messed up but yet she was trying to warn people, i dont see a mistake with that? And as far as im concerned, vain inc is doing just fine with bloggers and the magazine..UM role magazine…umm yeah Tenshi explain? Haha think theres more problems in sl then this, and i think you guys are being alittle too dramatic over this issue, including sdc readers! And Raine, your an idiot!

    • Nakko says:

I agree! This was a minor incident and really blown out of proportion. Raine needs to do her research Sam [:

  13. Raine says:

Okay “Sam” if you had an ounce of formal education you would know that she is not a good blogger in the first place. UM Role Magazine at least does their research whenever they do their topics. If you are going to blog something, at least be educated about it instead of posting something that you have don’t any background about. That Kylie girl is an idiot and so by the way, are you.

    • Sam says:

Oh really, you dont even know who i am, and i think you would be surprised. also, what the hell do u do in sl? im very curious, your probably another heartless person thats brown noseing Tenshi’s SCD ass lol, and btw Vain is still successful at the end of the day, You this incident is going to affect it?..like Really Think Dear..and next, Role Magazine made plenty of mistakes idiot, you need to do more research! At the end of the day, the girl messed up, im so glad your ass is perfect!

  14. Raine Dagger says:

“You this incident is going to affect it?”. Please read over your typing before you submit please. You’re almost as stupid as this Kylie girl. I wouldn’t be surprised really if you were her. Also, why does it matter what I do in SL? That is not the topic at hand.

  15. O Dear says:

    needs to stop… stupid!!!

  16. needs to stop… stupid!!!

    x2

  17. Lei says:

Sam needs a grammar and spell checker…

    This post is hilarious :D
Part of being a blogger/reporter is checking your facts :p
    She amuses me.

  18. Monolock says:

LOL, how stupid is that!!! to start bashing people now who speak out about content theft instead of suporting them “somewhat privately”. Who will ever talk to you again now if one has to always fear to end up on the ‘wall of shame’ for not being so “informed” as you are???

  19. Alabama says:

Bashing posts like this leaves me with a bad taste, and sadly it´s been quite a few here lately…
Ok, maybe thats the intention with this whole blog.
    Hope you enjoy yourself Tenshi.

  20. Darkley says:

Just to put it in context….

The Kyllie blog appeared and suddenly plurk was up in arms in paranoia and people were taking the ‘fact’ that LINDENS ARE STEALING OUR WORK as gospel

Tenshi wrote this to appear in the feeds to try and calm everyone down and for people to do a little critical thinking and remember about library skins

  21. Life From The Other Side says:

people its a damn blog its second life WHO GIVES A SHIT!?

  22. Stella says:

FYI, it’s written “you’re” as in “you are”.

  23. Naoki Ninetails says:

Look, I’m sure she’s a nice girl and everything. And I’m sure she meant well.

But it was irresponsible journalism and it had a lot of people in a panic over nothing.

She doesn’t deserve to be raked over the coals for it, but that’s no one’s true intention. It’s just important that a lesson be learned here that if you have an audience, you need to be CERTAIN before you spread information that it is not misinformation. Otherwise, you don’t deserve the position.

  24. Jamie says:

Hey – whats up. Thanks for the info. I’ve been digging around for info, but there is so much out there. Yahoo lead me here – good for you i guess! Keep up the great information. I will be coming back over here in a few days to see if there is any more info.
