Well, it’s not really drama. I mean, it’s legitimate complaints.
Throughout the day today I’ve been hearing people complain about the special Blogger Preview day. Some people didn’t get invited, some people did, some people signed up and couldn’t get in (I was one of those)… it was a mess. I was lucky, and Kia Goodliffe fixed me right up. She did, however, sound extremely stressed. Autumn Hykova and Washu Zebrastripe said they increased the “blogger cap” twice in order to accommodate all the last minute blogger requests.
As the day wore on we (myself and the people I was hanging with) watched people coming in and out of the Hair Fair sim for Blogger day. I was lucky to meet a few and make contacts with some I had never met before – in our blogroll you’ll find a new Spanish language SL fashion blog you should really check out.
However, we did notice a lot of non-bloggers running around. Several, in fact, and when I stopped in tonight I saw one of SCD’s more infamously blogged folk running around. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have a fashion forum to promote these Hair Fair designers.
I guess, in the end, it’s just all politics. If you’re friends with the right people, you get in. If you’re not, you have less of a chance. Some people, from what I understand, were outright banned from Hair Fair last year for harassing the organizers. This year, some very legitimate bloggers got left out from Blogger Preview Day. Some creators even boycotted it -Â one (I’ve forgotten which) has a sign up saying that their vendors will be put up for sale on Saturday at 12am SLT, and not a minute before. Bloggers have responded to that and say they will not, under any circumstances, be blogging that particular creator.
And then there was the drama with a certain blogger taking pictures (again, I didn’t get a name) of Hair Fair and the booths and posting them to Flickr LAST WEEK. Way to brag.
Look for more positive Hair Fair posts in the upcoming week. Good lord. Politics instead of charity? Come on, guys.

Today’s preview wasn’t just for bloggers, the hair designers were allowed one guest also. Everyone allowed in was either supposed to be a blogger or a designer guest.
Today’s preview is meant as a relaxing day for the designer’s and their guests to enjoy the work that they have put into it. Bloggers are invited as a courtesy, and we let in quite a few, going forward I’m sure there are things we will change, and handle differently, but you make mistakes so that you can grow and learn from them.
Sh*t happens.
Moo Money suggested that if Hair Fair does a opt-in for bloggers again next year, that this service might be of use:
https://examples.wufoo.com/forms/workshop-registration/
Wufoo is a great site. You can make up to 3 custom forms and get up to 100 responses in a month for free. Otherwise you can pay 10 bucks for like 500 responses. I wish I had an awesome use for the site because it’s hot.
It sorts the responses by name, email, etc. It even tracks IP so you would know if people registered multiple times under alts.
Stay tuned for the next exciting daytime edition of As The Grid Groans.
It is a hair fair. In the mean time head on over to the Fantasy Fair that raised $4000 for RFL before the first day was done.
Interesting… really…
Till reading this entry I never heared of the last and this years drama.
I don’t care about dramas. SL is not reality, SL is a game.
After reading the first time I thought how naive I must be believing that there are no SL-people who behave like kids.
What the hell is sp important in blogging about new hair-releases yesterday, tomorrow or next week?
I asked Autumn for access to the sims yesterday. She did’nt respond, but I really don’t care cause there are much more important things in life – in a bloggers life too – than that. It was a try. Nothing more.
Someone was banned because of photographing the booths? Unbelievable. If that really is true, that one who banned has not only a problem with separating important things in life from unimportant.

(Excuses for mistakes in my english)
I think it’s lame people get in to “demo” (free stuff) before everyone else. I think most of these bloggers are losers anyway and it just makes me resent creators for not just keeping it fair. I don’t buy hair cause of some blog post, i demo it and if i like it, i buy it. TO hell with all the bloggers. They are no one special or of any authority in SL. They are only as good as people will let them be, and when it comes to SL, most people judging are worthless.
Define “legitimate blogger”. I am sure all who got in, and those who missed out, would like to think of themselves as “legitimate” bloggers. The way some of those who missed out have carried on, you would suspect they believe themselves to be more important than those who did get in. With the number of people calling themselves fashion bloggers these days, it is completely unreasonable to expect that the organisers should let them all in.
Well given Washu’s comments on plurk I think next year they’ll give more thought to the process and if they are going to have a blogger review day then it probably deserves the thought. At the least you should be required to name the blog(s) you write for and whether or not you blog actual fashion. This is a minor blip on the hair fair though and will blow over fairly quickly.
I didn’t even know there was a blogger preview day. Not a big thing since I’m not even going to the hair fair until the lag dies down.
Isn’t there like 4000 people now that take pics of themselves and write about what they are wearing these days?
I am not waiting in anticipation for the hair fair, but I love to read about drama. Hopefully there be some over-the-top bitching about how many prims were used at one display booth, with some mega diva bullshit thrown in like last year.
Given the fact that I wasn’t blogging last year, I was not even aware that there was a blogger preview day. As it is, I won’t be making that mistake next year. On the other hand, I might find myself blogging something completely different this week…..and give everyone a break from the plethora of hair blogs right now…which I guess is one of the benefits of being..unofficial.
Everybody want’s his/her 15 minutes of fame, wants to feel important, to be on exclusive preview lists, blogging something first before everybody else, creats or reports about stupid incidences and calls it ‘drama’.
The publicity machinery is running on full steam, there were so many previews that I don’t even want to go there anymore, it seems we all have seen it all already, some docent creators are confronted with hundreds of bloggers, everyone is important, everyone is famous, everyone spends a lot of money, eveyone is cool, everyone is trendy, welcome to RL.
I love how you posted the infamously blogged folk link
really gives it some flair!
and by the way… its (people) not folk
lol, all i can do is laugh ! Becuase this is getting absurd, take my name off this damn LIST i have put up with this bullshit for so long its not even funny, Im a grown ass paid member of second life who spends ALL of my time blogging,or afk!and may i add that I was also stalked but this idiotic little girl,…. for you to add my name to this list giving me negative attention when you haven’t a bit of evidence is or am leg to stand on is slander and completely childish and rude! But at least deliver the people who read this Crap and believe it facts! and the facts have proven and will KEEP proving that i am not this Mega (ALT) i am very proud of my name, my account and what i do in secondlife with MY time. and have no reason to stalk or harass random people! This is making it hard for me to deal with the game and it comes from NOTHING.
Why don’t you people do your own research this lady is just someone sitting at home in her computer desk typing away. YES part of this is right, there was a child who came into sl stalking and harassing the fashion industry within the game, NO i was not HER!’

This tenshi is now you harassing me
get your facts together before you put names on a list!
meaning mine!
Pathetic…..
XD
Tell me something. What good is an expo if nobody can go because the limits are so low on the number of people allowed in the regions?
Hint: You need 9 regions for an expo. Spread the exhibits out. Hopefully next year there will be enough designers willing to pay enough for a 9 region mini continent.
BTW I like the hair fair’s charity cause. I am currently growing my hair out to donate to Locks of Love. Soon. Almost long enough to head to the shop that does the Locks of Love cuts free.
This is such an entertaining post but however I’m frazzled as to why someone like “you” happened to enter the hair fair preview, this is the second post you have directed at the individuals name which you conveniently forgotten, The hair fair doesn’t need a gossip blogger to write about personal vendettas that she has with the person who’s name you conveniently forgotten. As to what was misplaced
by this individual that is none of your concern, you apparently forgotten the hair fair is directed for the fashion scene which means your face which is prime example of your journalism career (wash up and battered) was irrelevant to the show as is your post next time you feel the end to open your wide ugly mouth publicly do yourself a favor and present yourself with grace, dress the party and maybe then your presence will
be at the least bit respected, second rate bitch
Anne: “What good is an expo if nobody can go because the limits are so low on the number of people allowed in the regions?”
Interesting question Ann. It’s almost like the grid needs a special “convention center” that is specifically designed to host huge crowds. Cluster of major servers on one extra sized space, quadruple prims, mega script execution capacity, etc. etc.
Hmms to self…
@Dusky Jewell: Actually I was pleasantly surprised to see that last year’s kerfluffle booth (re: HoH) cleaned up their act and had a nice booth.
I didn’t see anyone that really went overboard on prims, sculpty or otherwise. Some vendors decorated their booths with textures – and looked REALLY GOOD.
“next time you feel the end to open your wide ugly mouth publicly do yourself a favor and present yourself with grace…”
Methinks you should try and take your own advice after that vitriolic little post… The hypocrisy abounds!
This is ridiculous. I’ve been trying all damn day to get there, and it’s just been constantly full. I completely appreciate it’s the first day, but come on? why is the sim capacitys so stupidly low? :/
Aw man. I was hoping for some ARC drahmz.
@lola all sl sims only allow cerrain number ll are lil >.> >.< i mean at least 200 pers sim would make more sence but iguess there servers just cant take it.
The booths look good or what was to be expected from some creators. I do wonder how well the sims would perform if the booths were decorated less.
SW sim has been down most of the day. There was a line of people waiting at the sim line and one person said the sim had been down for 5 hours.
There was ARC yelling between people who were suggesting in general to reduce prims and people with 3000 ARC who took it personally.
I do not get why anyone is vain stupid and inconsiderate enough to go to an event like this with an ARC anywhere over 100. Frankly you should be at 1.
I also can’t believe the capacity was so low, given that it took hours to get around and only 50 avs per sim… sigh.
I also personally think that for this sort of thing they need to punt on the primmy theme stuff and keep it bare bones which would hopefully reduce lag. Newflash – no one is going to see lollipops and cupcakes, however well built. Most would far prefer an easier shopping experience at these things.
I was up til 3:40 am getting around most of it, although I have about half a sim left to see… and can’t log in today as apparently SL is broken.
Anastasia what did you expect on the first day >.>.
and no one asked you to stay up till 3am to be honest i tped in and thought gosh ill go back again in week but whie iwas there the few shops isaw looked great i love the build be great if the sims was kept after such a waste of a awosome designs when they poof but we will have 2010:)
I don’t think it is as much vain and stupid as just uninformed or slightly informed and not giving a crap. (which unfortunately many n00bs are)
The majority of users would be moderately new without a clue about ARC, (and for those who don’t believe in ARC, -without a clue as to how thier appearance and scripted attachments and extra flexi prims may affect the sim)
The reason I loosely say “majority” of users is just a rough guess based on the increase in users since this time last year, so don’t bug me.
I can’t imagine that anyone having experience with a Hair Fair could ever not care about how they present, as far as ARC.
I am tryin to log in at home so I can get my jammies on and go barefoot and in my bandana without hair. If I can. If not, I will have to wait a few days, and land in the wee hours.
kismet I was not saying that it was anyone else’s fault I was up til that time.
But with only 50 avs on each sim I think you should be able to get around much more quickly. I was not even lingering much.
It is a lovely build but quite unnecessary and I am sure most would prefer lag reduction to themes.
If you could get around it more quickly it would give more people a chance to get in there and spend some lindens…
And to clarify, I expect lag of course on a hunt or an event of this kind, it just seems that no one does much to help the issue. Although I was glad to see many with an ARC of 1 and many more that were still in the green.
I don’t wear a bandana as they actually have a higher ARC than some hair I own…
Still well worth while although mostly dollarbie demos and “gifts” and some of these “gifts” (dollarbies) were clothing rather than hair which was odd.
Now I have to try on my demos in peace so I can decide what to buy…
Molly Glitter, I spoke the truth about her and her mouth don’t try and patronize me for doing so, as for trying to quote what Ive said. it just shows you clearly don’t know who i am and before trying to respond about what Ive said do your homework molly im the richest socialite in this industry, i say what i like because im not up for fuckery, this article is stupid and pointless don’t worry about what Ive said because you know she wrong for this shit
If anyone wants a box of 1 prim wigs to wear on that baldie then stop by my store and grab a copy. The wig adds 20 to arc so with clothes and the wig, no shoes, no 200 arc eyelashes, etc, you are arc 21.
That’s very considerate of you Ann.
(They’re not the weird cupcake tops like they give away at the fair, right? Lol)
Some skinmakers make skins with hair. There’s a PXL Creations skin with hair, several from Your Skin & Your Shape. I’m not logged in, but from memory those are just two of several that have hair right on the skin.

++++++++++
LOL @ “richest socialite in this industry”. How does anyone know who the richest person is on SL? Your post is pure fuckery but thanks for the laugh.
@somerandomchick – More along the line of what a romulan might have for a haircut.
Anyway I finally got in one of the hair fair sims. 30 minutes later everything was not gray. There were maybe 2 others in the sim respecting the low ARC request. Not that ARC makes a difference since all regions are effectively homesteads now except for allowed prims and more than 20 avatars means sim is dead.
On the opposite end is the fantasy fair that does not seem to exhibit these issues at all.
Oh well. No way to find those hair fair only deals with the way LL grid sims work now.
should have security, ejecting prim whores who refuse to detach stuff tbh next year
