Frolic Mills runs Best Of SL Magazine and is important because, well, we don’t know why he’s important. What we do know is that he surely is gossiped about a lot. Mostly, he’s gossiped about for being an asshole. Like, the time he screwed his Miss Virtual World out of her prize money. Or how about the time he got Linden Lab and himself almost sued for using Donald Trump’s intellectual property? And, in one of my favorite Dbag moves tried to acquire a magazine he neither had a stake in nor paid for.
The “CEO” *plop plop fizz fizz* apparently contacted the staff of RUNWAY magazine when their owners left rather unexpectedly yesterday. I’ll give him this: dude does not waste any time. Apparently he had convinced the staff that they now worked for him and that he had taken control of their servers and subscriber kiosks. He immediately made new new groups for them to join, saying he was going to publish the mag under the Best Of SL network.
This sounds like your average company transfer, except company transfers usually involve someone BUYING the company that is folding, which Frolic never did. The RUNWAY owners had left the magazine to their staff to continue.
When RUNWAY owner Maggie Mahoney heard about what Frolic did, she shuttered the magazine for good, saying:
Any action of BOSL&CO acting on behalf of RUNWAY should be considered fraudulent and without the express consent of myself, Ocean Bates, RUNWAY, RUNWAY SL, RUNWAY Magazine or RUNWAY Productions.
I will retain the rights to the RUNWAY logo, branding, trademark and use of them will be in violation of DMCA. Mr. Mills and BOSL&CO, or any subsidiary thereof, do not have permission to use the RUNWAY name, logo, brand, trademark or any likeness thereof. It is unfortunate that Mr. Mills and BOSL&CO took advantage of the RUNWAY staff at a shocking time for them within hours of the announcement that Ocean and I had decided to leave SL.
I think that’s all there is to say about it. Good job maintaining your image as a corpse-picking vulture, Frolic!

UPDATE: Apparently BOSL even put out a ‘press release’ yesterday. Here it is:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Re: Runway Magazine
Maggie Mahoney and Ocean Bates have left Second Life for personal reasons and we wish them the best of luck. She has left the magazine in the capable hands of their staff.
It is the wish of RUNWAY staff members to incorporate ouselves with the BOSL & CO group and continue to offer the very best of the modeling and fashion industry.
“I have always supported Runway Magazine and I will continue to support it for as long as I stay in SL” said Frolic Mills, new Publisher of Runway Magazine.
Expect the same concept but exiting new improvements as we quickly reorganize the quarters of Runway Magazine!
RUNWAY WILL CONTINUE ITS PUBLICATION AS ALWAYS !
