Hybrid Ansar and Nika Dreamscape alerted the SCD team to the mecca of all stolen content centers at the MIA sim. Owned by Gisele Grizot, stolen items range from Redgrave skins to ETD Hair, Armidi, Soul Skins, Mirai Style, and on and on and on. I’m here right now – it’s disheartening. I honestly feel a little ill looking around.

I encourage you to visit and AR the items you know and recognize as stolen content. Besides Gisele, there are three other names connected with the shop as prim vendor creators – Midas Blazer , Aquavita Oh and julie Freck. Some content creators have already been notified.
ARs are piling up and this is now in the hands of the Lindens. If you feel you may have stolen content up, please click the jump for TPs to the areas.

I went there and some wangster keeps putting security boxes around me. Copybotting?
I’m there now. Tons of people buying up everything. Seems there’s always the market for the unscrupulous and the underhanded.
Are they buying or ARing? They can look like the same action, in SL. *shrug*
It could be either. Its simply easier to believe the worst, especially in these circumstances.
i can not believe the sheer amount of stolen content here.
Am I incorrect in thinking that Dolce Blackflag must be, at some level, complicit in this, as it is the 2nd result in a PixelDolls search?
Can someone give me an example. Skins are skins to me.
I’m the idiot running around in the police uniform screaming “put down the copybot items and come out with your hands up”.
Can’t miss me.
Yeah, I went to see if anything there belonged to my bosses. That place breaks my heart.
I see a lot of Redgrave from what I can recognize. Some others look familiar just can’t place the names.
I can’t believe are so….dishonest. Which shouldn’t surprise me honestly meaning that SL is very like RL in that sense. I do hope that LL does something about that real soon, so unfair!
I remember going there in ’06 or ’07 because they had “Free mondays” where they gave out their newest release for free. It sucked really bad, but was free. Maybe they still can’t design so they steal stuff?
I sent you a message and a landmark about this place in March, Tenshi.
I took the liberty of exploring. There’s another mall up at 565m. It’s mostly garden stuff, fountains, and regular newbie stuff (shy caramelle skins, etc.) but there are some complete full perm av packages, hair, gowns, etc.
Slurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Candy%20II/145/127/524
urge, she bought off me the other day
:S
Male skins, lots of the Abyss Scorpio, I think I recognize FNKY! as well if I remember the abs right. Female skins, definitely RaC/Laqroki on a lot of these, and yeah, Redgrave.
A nony Mouse,
It’s unfair to suggest Dolce Blackflag is “complicit”. The person seems to be a legitimate reseller of PixelDolls items, besides all their illicit activity. I’m sure Dolce would be glad to be made aware of the actions of this person, though.
The hair, what i am the creator at the gisele store, as Noah, Lucrecia, and more, not are stolen, not, Gisele bought them to me.
I saw some Pixel Dolls skins there, but Gisele Grizot is a member of the Pixel Dolls wholesale group, and those are the wholesale skins, so I suspect that those, at least, are legit. Can’t speak for the rest, though some looked familiar I couldn’t place them – will have another look later when I’m not in a rush.
This is gross. Honestly, I lose my faith in people more and more every day.
P.S. Can someone please explain to me what the “Key” at the top of the profile is? I don’t get that on my client.
Sofia: That’s the avatar identifier key, and I get that because I run the Emerald viewer on my laptop.
Winter: It’s entirely possible that I didn’t receive that information at all. I don’t recall it.
Let’s burn this witch!
I definitely think you should IM Neph and let her know that that bitch Dolce Blackflag is stealing her stuffs.
Ok heres what I dont get… Do people like this seem to think they’ll NEVER get caught? Seriously.
Makes me sad… I hate that copybotting is apparently easy and can be done by idiots. I hate that it even exists! I hope they get their asses handed to them.
*sighs*
Now hang on a second. Neph has “licensed” resellers – this girl could be simply a reseller of PD stuff. That doesn’t mean Dolce Blackflag actually took anything – I’ll have to ask Neph.
The rest of this stuff? Stolen.
Tough to prevent, too, when you have content downloaded to a viewer that runs on your local machine over an open, published interface and the viewer is open source.
The only way to prevent it would be to prevent 3rd party viewers from accessing content on the LL grid.
*Insert generic cry of shock and astonishment* What the hell is wrong with people? I mean, seriously, did they think that no-one would notice? It only takes one person to notice…
I was there for a hunt not too terribly long ago, and only saw a handful of skins and no hair, this must be relatively new. And I am not fashion-savvy enough to recognize designers unless I happen to own the item that was copybotted.
ack
So I tped over to one of the places and saw a copybot av of myself…if you’re gonna AR maybe wear a random shape or something unless ya don’t care.
It was really weird to see O.o
You think this is sad? At least you can AR this person and alert the designers. There’s a huge amount of copybotting on the Teen Grid, and we can’t even tell the designers it’s happening because the divide between grids doesn’t allow us to.
There’s gotta be some way of alerting the designers somehow…maybe some kinda copybot reporting repository where members of both grids can send in screenshots and slurls or whatever? I dunno how it would work.
“Tons of people buying up everything.” 20.000 SCD readers are now supplied with LMs to 49L$ redgrave skins. And considering that 50% read SCD because of the drama and give a fuck about stolen content, this blog post will earn this lady a fortune.
PLEASEEEEEEEEE next time don’t give out LMs to such places but pass them on inworld on request to creators only.
SCD has nothing to do with the people purchasing items. I would hope that SCD readers are better educated and are AR’ing the items.
Please don’t rag on my readers like that.
Thanks.
Marc, I am not a designer, but I care about content theft; I don’t want to see my favorite designers run out of SL due to scammers. I am not so good with identifying stolen skins (I only buy from a few places) but I am excellent with identifying stolen hairs. I’ve notified designers in the past when I’ve found stolen content so they can take the appropriate action. I am far from the only person who feels this way about content theft.
It is sickening.. it is sad.
You would think that SL/LL would protect the uuid’s of textures – they do not.
With a bit of programming skills, they are easily acquired.
There is an open database/library available to the general public that gives information on this.
I am not talking about the 10.000 SCD reader who do care and hate such stuff like i do. Geeze …
And i went there too, i think Dendou and an old MMS skin (the circle closes) is there also. And some hair looks like old Truth.
Most skin vendors are created 5th of October 2008. This makes it quite obvious …
Let’s thank Rack Brautigan (From Imagen) who first brought it to our attention through plurk about the skins being ripped at MiaWestWorld. They are in fact def ripped. The Ice Blonde model skins are straight lelutka…I compared the two side by side. It’s a shame. Also, please send AR’s about Superior Skins http://slurl.com/secondlife/Candy%20II/92/83/23. It also has a shit load of ripped skins.
As long as there are those who want haute couture for rock-bottom price, and as long as there are those willing to get rich quick while putting in no or little work, this will be going on. This is why we need the likes of SCD to spread the word and alert people to scammers and content thieves.
Marc – yeah, the circle closes – that’s one designer about whom I shrug and chuckle a little.
If anyone who has read this blog has then gone to this cesspit and bought stuff – shame on you. I hope your toenails fall out and you get yeast infections.
/me feels disappointed. MIA Island was one of the first places I have found in SL and I enjoyed it a lot (back in the days where it was a nice boardwalk)
LOL, I didn’t found it first, Mochi Milena, from Pink Fuel, sent me a note when she saw my skins at that place. This person not only sells ripped skins, she also uses parts from different creators pasted together over Another skin and Splendor bases. Like Redgrave eyes and Curio lips, noses from LAQ, and so on.
Well regardless, i wouldn’t have found out they were ripped if it wasnt for your plurk so hi5!
““Tons of people buying up everything.†20.000 SCD readers are now supplied with LMs to 49L$ redgrave skins. And considering that 50% read SCD because of the drama and give a fuck about stolen content, this blog post will earn this lady a fortune.

Then they’re forgetting that when the store is AR’ed, all those skins and items will be deleted grid wide from inventories.
No point in wasting any L, save it up for the real thing and it’ll always be in your inventory.
@Boogers
Ohhhhhhhh … cool, I didn’t know that.
Will everything be deleted that this av ever sold/produced? Or just the one item the AR was filed for?
What happens with the money the person still has on his/her account? Will it be confiscated by the Lindens when the av is banned?
Do they refund the the rest of the months fee for her island?
Maybe SCD could do a report to show all consequences of a successful AR (also for deterrence reason).
And it would be cool if SCD would announce when this Gisele is finally off the grid. Somehow after i saw this place i really doubt anything will ever happen. Why for instance did MMS never face consequences (because it was stolen from a non-Linden source)?
Do they by now check x-street for same credit-card numbers as in SL accounts for all the copy-bot alts to cash out the money?
This would really be an ideal case to do some education on what actually really happens (as these skins are SO clearly stolen).
Tenshi opening her pie hole before getting the whole story…What’s new right?
And look at all the rest of you just hopping on the drama band wagon! How pathetic.
First off, how do you know if Gizele went and stole these items? I have seen a very large majority of these skin packages on XStreet and in world for sale full perms with TGA’s included! The creators rez dates are quite old and the items look legit. I can see that those creators stole these items, not Gizele. I know her quite well and know she would never intentionally steal someone’s work.
Just like she sells PixelDoll items by Dolce, she thought the other creators were selling her their own lines full perm. These items were on Sale inworld and on Xstreet with TGA’s included. She thought they were legit.
So she doesn’t create her own stuff. Big f^%$^ deal. There is no law in SL that says you have to. Some people have lives and work RL. They don’t have time to spend hours on the computer creating things, but they like to have their own business on SL and there is nothing wrong with that. That is the fun of SL! Half the creators in SL use PSD’s and sculpts that were created by other designers for that purpose. They just add their own textures or textures they bought in SL or somewhere else. How original is that? You think the owner of Macy’s Creates every single piece of clothing and sews it themselves. Do they make their own fabrics? Do they make each piece of makeup, jewelry, appliance they sell? Does Nordstrom carry some of the same items as Macy’s? Can you buy Jimmy Choos anywhere other than Nieman Marcus? Yes, you can buy them at Sak’s 5th Avenue. Can you find a Macy’s or Nordstrom in just about every major city in America? YES! You want to buy from the original creators of these items? You better go to China! Get over the resell thing. It’s no big deal!
She obviously purchased some items from crooks unknowingly. They are the crooks not her!!!
But good old Tenshi just loves to start a scandel. Then she calls it protecting the original creator. Let’s be honest Tensh…you love the drama of it all, but you’ll never admit it lol.
So, poor Gizele is probably dealing with LL over some crooks that sold her stolen stuff. No one could pull her aside and ask her if she knew it was stolen. Instead it was just assumed she did this and then it had to be splashed over your gossip rag of a blog and over Fashion Planet. You had to drag a really sweet, generous person through the mud for your own sick pleasure.
I’m not surpised though…it’s just the content of your character.
Dolce Blackflag is Neph’s alt. Along with a few others.
Yeah, these BIAB designers are really talented…
NOT
I work with Gisele are any of you the creators of the Hair she has purchased? Do any of you have any clue as to what you are talking about ? Do you need a list of creators and receipts for tens of thousands of lindens paid to them for rights . I guess she will need to contact all creators to post to this lie. Geesh . If you are not the creator then go ahead and contact the creator ask before you bash and destroy . I am urging Gisele to file a complaint to this publisher as this is damaging malicious lies . I am contatcting Gisele . The receipts for the rights to sell and the creators name need to be published and the publisher of these lies needs to be banished from SL . This is not information it is harmful lies that need to be punished in a court of law if necesary. False and Malicious claims need to be reported to the lindens . And Dolce are you kidding . Gisele has spent 100 of thousands of lindens and has full rights!
All of you that contribute to lies like this before talking to creator are shamefull . It is possible she has bought rom slexchange something that is not right but fi so why not contact the creator or her first . NET COPS well I do not like them but really hate wanna be ones that are WRONG!
I work with Gisele and Gisele buys from Dolce Blackflag and many other creators that have been in SL for years. Gisele does buy NOT steal from various creators . Gisele and I have purchased many entire businesses after they have quit selling . We have all creators names . If you do not know what you are talking about please stop. Gisele has 2 islands, and will be on the phone to the lindens along with answering and filing claims on any false slander. Come Visit MIA It has been here for 3 years and she or I do not steal anything EVER!! This week we will spend about 80KL on a skin PSD from creator . It will be out soon . It is as good as redgrave mabye better . . Come to MIA this weekend and see for your self. Maybe we invite creator . If we ever buy something from someone who is not creator by accident we want to know . Simple IM This blog seems to be for some kind of drama or perhaps for those who want to blame someone ?? I just do not understand evil people . Or I guess why they do what they do.
We help creators by buying only from them . We try and stop all full perm sellers that are not the creator . We are on your side . Please stop the hurt and think before write
Tenshi Vielle is blog owner We ask lindens to help with this slander .
Tenshi maybe you do not understand do you want the name of the creators to verify and their shops? Gisele will contact lindens by Phoen 1st since she is concierge member then fax if necessary. Slander without facts just is not right.
If anyone want names of creators that items were purchased from ( Many of which have been in SL for years) just ask .
One creator has answered already in this blog . We can ask creators to contact you. Please Ask before make false claims. This hurts good people and we spend much money with creators to date over 10 thousand USD.
If lies continue and DMCA is filed we will have creators write . One has writtten on the blog already . Those that make false claims will be punished.
Below from linden labs for those who may file a false claim.
If Linden Lab believes that a user of Second Life is continually abusing the DMCA process, either with filings that appear to be without basis, or by continually re-posting content that is the subject of valid DMCA notifications, we may exercise our right to terminate the abusing party’s account. Keep in mind though, that Linden Lab’s actions still do not determine the substantive outcome of copyright disputes. Copyright matters are real-world rights, governed by real-world systems
I hope we can gain trust we will be honest with anyone who IM us at MIA or send a notecard . This really hurts people .
i went, the first skin that rezzed for me was a Laq ‘Tasha’ skin, i recognise it, as i have it – as far as i am aware Laq dont resel, and certainly not at 199
the same goes for the hair i saw
Wow! What a serious load of disinformation. Does the writer of this blog use any of the tools of the journalist’s trade? For instance, does she think to ASK the person she is writing about whether any of the stuff she says is true?
If she had bothered to ask me, I would have told her that 1) I do not use copybot; if it even exists I don’t think it would do what is being claimed here 2) I am a reseller, and I purchase hair and skin from creators and from sellers I believe to be legit. I can’t vouchsafe everything I buy wholesale, but I do try to check things out, and I have personal knowledge that some of things people are claiming to be stolen were made by me and by reputable content creators. 3) The skin in my store was purchased either from the creators or from SLX as TGAs, from people who listed themselves as the creators. I own Redgrave skin myself; I paid a lot of Lindens for it, and I don’t have any skin of that quality in my store. I sell inexpensive skin that may have been made by people who were inspired by Redgrave, but I doubt if Redgrave would want to claim it as theirs.
Since this scurrilous attack was made on me and my store, I have heard from my friends (to whom I owe thanks.) I have also heard vague threats about DMCA & Abuse Reports. If I receive notices from the LIndens, I will file counterclaims, and I will then know your name and address–the real one–not just your avatar’s. You will want to be sure you know what you are talking about. Think about it.
Finally, a word about PixelDolls. I am an authorized reseller of PixelDolls. I purchase PixelDolls items wholesale. Despite what some people think, not all content creators hate resellers–some very fine content creators are not anxious to spend all of their time selling their creations, and they prefer to sell wholesale to people like me. I have spent hundreds of thousands of lindens buying wholesale content and thousands of hours putting together stores and mall spaces to sell the items I purchase. I have a good relationship with the content creators I buy from. I don’t really think that my customers or wholesale sources would like to see me kicked out of Second Life, because someone came into my store, saw some stuff they THOUGHT was stolen, and decided to file bogus complaints.
As for all of you blog-reading vigilantes calling me a thief–please be more careful about jumping on bandwagons. Not everyone with a blog and an opinion is correct in what they say. Sometimes they tell lies and spread gossip–kind of like the tabloid newspapers. There is an increasing number of resellers in SL, and you will find that many people are selling things they didn’t make themselves. Resellers are not thieves, they are people who purchase things at a quantity price and sell them at prices you can afford. Kind of like your local boutique or department store. The days of content creators being the only sellers in SL are long over–it’s time people got used to it.
Oh, and Tenshi–next time you want to “tell all”, try finding it out first. It’s just the right thing to do.
To clarify a post I made earlier:
“Male skins, lots of the Abyss Scorpio, I think I recognize FNKY! as well if I remember the abs right. Female skins, definitely RaC/Laqroki on a lot of these, and yeah, Redgrave.”
Those remarks just have to do with the Superior Skins location. I have no idea how they are supposed to be connected to MIA, or if they really are at all. The owner, ab Camel, is not mentioned in the original post as being at all connected with MIA. So how has he gotten mixed up in this?
In any case, Superior Skins is certainly selling ripped skins, many of them very badly frankensteined. All I can say for sure about MIA is that they’re legit resellers of Pixeldolls items; I did not stay around long enough to look at anything else and can’t comment.
Let me add:
Tenshi, you need to figure out whether Superior Skins is part of MIA, and provide proof. If you meant to just link people to a _different_ store, unconnected to Gisele and MIA, that you believe is ripping content, you need to make that clear.
Far as I can tell, everyone else who is complaining about Gisele ripping LAQ and Redgrave is talking about Superior Skins. If there’s some reason to believe ab Camel is part of the MIA group, you need to provide that information, or you need to correct the record.
To clarify:
Superior Skins and MIA are seperate. Tenshi posted both location because both locations are selling ripped skins. I don’t think she was implying that those locations are connected.
If you think that MIA is not selling ripped skins then explain how IMAGEN skins are being sold there. I know for a fact Rack didn’t allow it otherwise why would she file an AR about it.
When I was at superior skins I tped in Nany Merlin who immediately thanked me and filed a report…soooo there goes the business in a box theory.
I can show you pics side by side if you would like to see the ripped and originals. Both places dooped me.
Yeah, Gisele, you’re a licensed reseller – of PIXEL DOLLS. Not of that other stolen content in your store.
I haven’t read every post here but I was the orginal owner of the MIA Island region. I gave it that name because of my clothing name brand. I sold it to Gisele and she choose to keep the name now I have nothing to do with it.
I don’t know what is going on there. I havent’ spoken with Gisele for many many months but please be assured that this has nothing to do with my clothing line.
I am glad that so many seem to have fond memories of going to MIA when I owned it. Reading that here made me feel good.
I hope that this gets worked out. I have not been there to check anything for myself but I hope that this isn’t true.
Ayla Holt
It’s problematic to title a post ‘Queen of Stolen Content Gisele Grizot’ and then, without clarifying that these other sites are unrelated, linking to other places where content is of questionable legitimacy. I wish Tenshi would clarify this in the post, just so that people know she’s not claiming these are the same. As it is, I thought Superior Skins was part of some ring run by Gisele, and the article says nothing to disabuse one from this belief.
I decided to go to MIA and wait for things to rez. I spoke with Gisele and Alanis as well. Looking at the skins there, yes, I think a number of skins draw from dubious sources. I believe Curio and Redgrave and Imagen were among sources used, and I told them so.
However, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when they say that they’re buying full perms items which they believe are legitimate. I think they are entirely too credulous, but I think they mean well and are trying to respond to the issue as best they can. They claim they’re trying to get in touch with all the creators who appear to be affected, to verify these things. They took down one skin that I told them looked very much like LeLutka, for example, and they say they’ll get in touch with them about it.
As always, I think the carrot is often better than the stick. Creators, please talk to them first (especially if they’re contacting you about whether something they have is ripped from you), see if they’ll respond to your grievances before going further with it. It might turn out to be quicker and less painless than DMCAing them.
I hope that if a creator gives them the least cause to believe that yes, that item is ripped, that they’ll promptly get rid of it. The fact is that the full perm business is full of rip-off artists who are happy to fleece credulous people who want to get good content to newer or poorer residents at low prices.
Yes the mother nature skins and the Ice Blonde were definately Lelutka, I purchased the Ice blonde and once i realized what they were I then went to lelutka where I purchased as well and compared the skins side by side.
The Freckled Skins on the bottom right side of the skin wall are Imagen Skins and you can see for yourself here:
http://www.plurk.com/p/19gukk
Here’s what I dont get, if templates look questionable and you think you may know the original creators, how hard is it to send a notecard asking if this is legitimate? Why wouldn’t you go the extra mile to protect your business and reputation?
From what Gisele and Alanis told me, they simply don’t seem to be very familiar with skins in SL. Gisele’s never walked into Laqroki before his stuff started happening, she says.
I told them that if they’re going to continue in this business, they need some system in place to have people who know SL content better than they do take a look at anything they’re thinking of purchasing or offering at their store and let them know if it seems legit or not. Personally, I expect almost every skin they put up before such a system — except for bog-standard Eloh and Sezmra mods — will prove to involve ripping. But still, if they want to try and sell skins that are coming from unverified sources, they need to have some method of weeding out the wheat from the chaff.
re: Yeah, Gisele, you’re a licensed reseller – of PIXEL DOLLS. Not of that other stolen content in your store.
Yes–I believe that is what I said. Oddly, when I spoke to you earlier–as your avatar Marni Grut–you didn’t mention that you were in fact Tenshi Vielle. In fact, you were all backing off on having been critical in your post. So which you am I talking to now? And how many of the comments to your post are other alts of yours?
I have in fact been contacting skin creators to determine the truth of what people are saying in this blog. I have also been contacting people who commented in the blog to try and correct misinformation.
I realize that this blog is all about gossip and drama, so I guess it is too much to ask that it should also be about accuracy. I will file the necessary reports, and do what is necessary to protect my business and my name.
Finally, I will say one last time–the skin and hair in my store were purchased wholesale from either the creators or people claiming to be the creators. When I find out that that is not the case, I remove the offending item. If you think something in my store is stolen–tell me, and I will investigate. If you are not the content creator, and you just THINK something kinda looks like Redgrave skin, I am going to need a little more to go on. I went to Laq, btw, tried on the ‘Tasha’ demo, and don’t see that I have anything in my store like it. So whoever you are, Darkley, a littlel more information would be useful, cuz I just don’t see it.
Drama quotient full up for this day–7/14/09 GG
Ok here is one I was thiking about . Do i ask her if she is a thief ? How do i tell? Can someone say something positive that may lead to some positive developements Here is Link

Now for 70KL Question for creators How can you tell . IF this is a creator and you are warning people then you are hurting her business . Please help . Instead of speculation please look at this link and tell me how to tell if this is creator . Yes I can ask What if she says yes I am.
The last thing I want is to get stolen content . I sell at MIA also. We have contacted creators proactive now and will continue to help . We will cooperate with anyone who will contact us at MIA.
Check this link please

I just have to add one more thing here. I think it is an awful thing to post a blog like this with no proof and without any investigating at all. It seems to me that the blog creator just wanted to get some attention and didn’t even bother to ask anyone any questions before assuming the worst and posting.
Something a 12 year old would. Jr. High school tactics. I don’t know if this is or isn’t true. But having read Gisele’s posts here I tend to believe that if these items were, in fact, stolen she is probably not the one to steal them.
Many creators buy full perm clothing, skin, sculpty textures to assist them in their creations. We trust that the people on xstreet are selling their own creations in full perms.
It wouldn’t have killed this blogger to ask a question or two before ruining the reputation of someone!
I am feeling very sorry for Gisele at this moment. She must be putting out fires all over the place because one person wanted attention bad enough to write without any information or sources.
Ayla Holt
Boy it’s a good thing Marni isn’t here, she’d have at you.
Marni isn’t my alt. Marni is from the UK. I’m in the USA. Big ocean of water between.
And yeah. You totally are hosting stolen content, sorry to be the first to tell you this. You’re also making money off of it.
HMM.
That link you posted, Ive tried those skins on before. They have a skybox with Demos and was really simple to find.
If I can do it….why can’t anyone else? I dont even sell skins.

It seems that you are wanting Tenshi to go above and beyond to make sure that her claims are legitamate yet only until your business is called into question are you willing to take those same steps to ensure that what you sell is legitamate.
Pot calling kettle black to me.
oh darn! you caught me
Yes tenshi is in fact my alt, not wait were joined at the hip.
I’m not in the habbit of making comments to deep into this sort of thing. I run a shop in SL and kinda of just don’t want to be anything to do with stuf like this. Yes that’s awfully vanilla……
And sorry but the people from your store had sent me 4 notecards and a load of IMs and i was busy at the time. I tryed not to be rude but i have nothing to do with the issue so telling me was a tad moot.
Hybrid, no reflection on the skills or integrity of Nany Merlin, but you do realise that before Nany came on board Soul Skins was the biggest seller of ripped and modified skins in SL? It’s how they got their start, and it’s still owned by the guy who ripped skins from Naughty and other well known designers. I find it ironic that they are one of the “victims” in this case. Nany really needs to set up shop on her own and distance herself from Soul – a lot of people won’t buy her work because of her association with them.
That’s a shame and I agree Steph, she should seperate herself if her business partners are involved in that kind of business practice.
Hybrid so you are confiident those skins are ok? see link
Or can anyone help .

Can someone explain
How can we buy from creator . How do we tell . If you say is no way then
that hurts this creator and others who are ever growing to realize they need re sellers in order to make money. A simple question to group — Are these skins ok from the link. IF we buy and put out will I be Queen of stolen content ? I really want to know if anyone has any concrete knowledge . If so speak up.
Are these skins made by creator . I do not want to hurt creators sales by not buying but some one on this board will know better than I.
We pay much money to creators for skins . This group seem knowledgeable so can you answer are the above skins in link good or not.

Gisele Grizot said “The skin in my store was purchased either from the creators or from SLX as TGAs, from people who listed themselves as the creators.”
She must have been born yesterday – uh huh *nods*
… just another thief claiming to be legit *sigh*
Alanis I never said whether or not I thought they were ripped or not. I was stating how easy it would be for you to find out yourself…by doing a little research and trying on demos etcetc.
Alanis, before buying something like skins or clothes templates, check their in world profile. If their profile looks kinda iffy, like they are obviously an alt, just born 6/09 with no groups to speak of or no other identifying things, it would probably be in your best interest not to buy from them. I don’t know whether you bought from a skin ripper or not, but their profile sure has a lot of red flags that would make me steer clear..
…Most BIAB are ripped items…unless it’s a case where a creator is closing shop and selling their license to ONE person…
Please to what everyone is saying to heart, Gisele and Alanis. I think you need to protect yourselves and your business. Do the research, go to all the big skin shops and grab demos and learn how they look, find friends who know skins and hair and so on to ask about full perms item you’re considering, and so on. Be proactive in taking down anything you think is not right.
I do have to add that I think the bit about how a DMCA means you’ll have someone’s RL name and address was not a good thing to point out, Gisele. I think it implies a threat, and I don’t think you want to be doing that if you want to rectify the issue of your having ripped content (which you bought in good faith, as you say) in your store. I hope creators are contacting you and talking with you reasonably about these things, but I’m afraid ‘word to the wise’ is right that almost all BIAB-type content are stolen items.
Personally, I would be worried about buying any full perm skins/hairs etc from SLX to resell. Most of them look like bastardised versions of other people’s creations.
The problem is that we just can’t escape from it now, the SL market is so saturated with this crap it’s so hard to tell, it’s a shame for the talented creators who have worked so hard
Maybe it’s got to the point now where the designers should set up a resell of their own creations in their stores/SLX, like Neph (Pixel Dolls) does. Then people will know if they are buying legitimately.
I have bought things that were stolen unknowingly off of SLX when I was starting my business. My store was empty and i thought it was a legitiment way to help fill it up until I could make more of my own creations. Unfortunately, I was new to the business and did not realize that having these items associated with me would make my name MUD. I have since stayed away from these items, but some people still think I only sell “stolen” or “Resell”items. I have been accused of being alts of other people that I do not know, and told I have stolen people’s items that are not listed as the creators. I once even had a resell shop owner accuse me of stealing one of “his skins” He forgot he had his stores in his profiles. I went to the store and made sure I was not selling anything that was his. I also once bought a full clothing line and was supposed to be the only person to sell this line. The person was “quitting.” Well, you can now see that line at every resell store. So I have lived and learned.
To creators, please be kind when addressing the resell items. Most people are like I was, naive to the resell market. Once I realized what it was, or was contacted, I took it down. I had some people curse me out over it though, which was uncalled for. They could have just said, “I notice you are selling my items which I have never given out FP. Could you please take it down and tell me where you got it from?”
Also, I have had some of my own items stolen. I now keep a close eye at the resell shops and on SLX. I do find me stuff and contact SLX. They will take it down. You just have to make it your place to keep up with what is being sold and stole.
I went to MIA and did not see anything that was not at every resell shop in SL. Do not accuse the people of selling it as being thiefs. Find out who the creator was that stole it. Then go after them.
First, would like to say thank you to Ran, who has been genuinely helpful. And yes, it is correct that I want to hear only from creators if anythign is filed I read some blogs about false reporting and was too stiff with my language . So far, only Midas Blazer has sent me an IM, and she is a creator I buy from regularly. She got her name listed at the top of the blog as one of the people to contact. She makes part of her living designing and selling wholesale to people like me, as do many creators.
I buy from Midas and from Nephilaine Protagonist/Dolce Blackflag, and many other long time content creators. A lot of the skins in that have been mentioned were purchased wholesale by me a long time ago. When Ran identified one of the skins, I contacted the creator and sent a copy to them. They said it was a retired skin of theirs, and agreed that they were aware that it is in thousands of full perm outlets, and said they have given up on trying to do anything about it. Nevertheless, I removed it from my store. So far, the only creator to IM me is the legit creator saying she will help defend any false claims. No other creator has IMed me or sent a notecard.
I have also talked to some legitimate creators who worry that this kind of talk could hurt their sales. There are many who have been reselling for a long time, and although they have created their skins from the basic template up, they deal with frequent accusations of theft.
If just one actual content creator had contacted me to say I was selling content they believe to be theirs, I would have responded promptly. I remove items when I have made an error in purchase, or when the items have been misrepresented to me. Direct requests from creators/designers are much more effective than filing claims.
Those headlines, of course, would not suit this blog owner. Very drab. Gisele makes error buys some skins and some hairs that turn out to be possibly stolen. Then follows useless comments like: OMG, witch, thief, burn this witch! Most commenters don’t even sign a full SL avatar name.
Ran at least has provided me with sound advice and has been helpful, and I certainly intend to cooperate. I believe many designers now are selling full perms to a few select people that they trust will never sell full perms. This can supplement their income. And I hope to buy from more legitimate designers who realize I will protect their work .
I was the first person to get involved with the PixelDolls wholesale group. Since then other designers have approached me. My purchases help support designers, just like Macy’s helps the RL clothing makers. I will try to help with all of your concerns and I am sorry if I offended anyone, but if all that is said in a comment is “oh just a thief”— Well that is not helpful.
The one thing I worry about is that you must not stifle designers that are trying to make a living selling.as in the wholsale group. I want the bad ones off . Wasting money helping theifs takiing down things is not fun . In any large group of people ther is always some who no matter what I say can answer with some short quip . like ” yeah is another thief” Drama is more important than facts to some i guess.
Helping get rid of theifs is good for all of us . But we need get the facts . I have no clue as to what copy bot is or any of the methods mentioned . I purchase and do not have the time to chase down what i no nothing of. Any creators out there reading this please IM or send a note card . I have great respect for your talents and will respect you. You non creators also . Is fine with me you go out find things but please have creator contact me . Exciting headlines may make good read but hurting people before bother to contact will only help the tabloids .
Sorrry for long winded answer I want to help . This is the first time something like this has happened to me. . Thank you all for your help especialy Ran Ayla Midas and others.
I am educating myself and creators will have to supply a lot more proof to me in future before i buy
I sincerely hope we can work together to stop all thiefs .
Aside from the skins, the hairs biggest problem is that some are full perm.
I grabbed a demo to check it against another well known hair creator that was full edit copy trans.
So not only do you have a possibly ripped hair, it’s a full perm ripped hair.
Still an untalented thieving bitch in my book.
Dancien once made a list of blog commentators defining them according to their psychological profiles. This list could also been made according to mental stages of SL ‘players’. Number 1 in this list is definitely the ‘Attention Whore’ who basically tries to substitute his/her inadequacy in RL.
Subspecies of the attention whore are ‘The Victim’ of which we have heard a lot with fake diseases, deaths, and what not.
Another is the ‘Mother Theresa’ who organizes charity in order to stand in the limelight giving a fuck about the actual charity. Here also Giselle would have to be sorted in, building up an empire of freebies and cheapies in order to ‘help’ people but actually giving a fuck about the stuff she gives out or sells. Seeing the carelessness in aesthetics of her sim more or less tells this story. If someone is for so long in SL and still is on a level of noob-country gives a shit and also gives a shit where the stuff comes from with which she shows off as Mother Theresa. I find her defense particularly ignorant when I try to match her words with the vendor-pics of the skins. For her they seem to be just another bargain to slap onto a wall although she must know by now what prices good skins have and that the full-perm skins that she purchased are good. Every single red light must go off in such cases.
Third subspecies is the ‘Drama Queen’ who just loves to cause trouble to bathe in the confusion and pain he/she induced. Intelligent drama queens take a bit of ‘Mother Theresa’ in and cause this drama along a ‘good cause’ like the restless fight against theft and unoriginality. But actually they give a shit about this ‘good cause’. Else it is not understandable why Tenshi doesn’t research her stories, doesn’t try to reveal the identities of the real thieves, doesn’t try to hunt them down with evidence. She basically just launches balloons with hot air, leans back, and watches whether or where they explode. Her nourishment are the comments on her blog who encourage her to tune up the volume more and more. By singling out Giselle, among so many others here, just with hot air doesn’t help fighting theft a freaking bit. Nothing will be achieved by it, nothing will change, nothing that can be read here will have any effect on reducing theft, bad customer service, or fraud as no one will have to face consequences, no proposal was made to change the situation, no background was explained create awareness.
Attention Whores forever !!!!!
I ask to remove my blog’s name, because there is something wrong, this has been resolved. Linden itself into my inventory and found nothing wrong. It is not for you to judge me and keep my name on that blog, because even I got wrong, the problem has been resolved. So, you keep my name on that blog is just doing this for evil.
I never stole anyone! I never had anything with Grisot, which seem to also buy FULL PERMIS in SL. If it is FULL Perm, is allowed to resell. Please remove my name of this text, because I am being execrate nothing to anyone.
Question: For all you witch-hunting types who have readied their pitchforks and vats of boiling tar to punish the ungodly infidels who copybot, and the even more vile heathens who dare ply their whorish trade in copybotted goods/BIAB stores…
…how many of you hypocrites use cracked software to design your botted goods? How many of you double-standards-having witch hunters download MP3s without buying a CD or a digital content license?
How many of you torrent your favorite TV shows, and movies before their scheduled release dates in the theatres… and certainly well before they are available on DVD/BluRay?
Yeah, I thought so.
Just wanted to say your blog is in my favorite blog list on #29.
