Armidi’s new online shop opened today and I think I may have gone a bit overboard. I know it’s cliche, but I have an Armidi weakness. It does not help that I can now indulge that whenever I’m bored and have access to the internet…
You have to register in order to view the site, but it only takes a second. You have to touch an in-world kiosk to complete registration, which I think is a little odd. It’s to prevent spammers, maybe? Once you register you can shop to your heart’s content, view the style blogs, wish lists, and browse.
One of the wonderful features of the site is the recommended items bar at the bottom of the item pages. It shows you what other people bought when they also bought the item you’re looking at. It’s just like RL online shopping and a feature I tend to use when I do that.
You can also send gifts easily, even if the recipient isn’t registered on the Armidi site. I mentioned the Wish List feature above (hey, it’s the season for giving) and it’s another great way to shop for your special someone. If you’re stumped about what the person likes, you can always buy them a gift card from the site, as well.
After you’ve purchased your items you can leave reviews on the product page. I think this is a great feature; I always like to know if something is hard to fit or if it’s the best thing you’ve ever seen.
The best feature hands down? No lag! I no longer have to wade through gesture-tards, script-ridden Goreans, or hear the phrase ‘jajajajajajaja’ when I just want to get what I want and get out.
Thank you, Armidi! You’ve just made my SL a lil’ bit easier.

That site is EVIL. My lindens went poof so fast *tear* I have a weakness for pretties. And woot lag-free shopping ftw!
I love this site and I’m so happy that I can have my old purchases redelivered (some of which i’ve lost)..phew and the new blazers <33
i cant imagine the lengths they went to get some of these features (omg some it is better than an rl shopping web site!) so i for one am very thankful
my friends had some hiccups with registration though
Hell yes to the lack of bling and weird “jajajajajaj” shit. Never been able to work out why Armidi attracts that type of crowd so heavily.
Yet another way for Armidi to give me a headache. I tried registering on the website, and it won’t accept either of my two email accounts because it says they’re not RELIABLE enough.
Yahoo and hotmail? It doesn’t even list what email sources are good enough for it.
Blah.
Armidi is a well-known brand that is associated with class, so the ‘jajas’ try to buy what they seem incapable of actually acting. Taht’s my theory, anyways.
So, if this is how long it took for the website to open, which I believe they’ve been working on for a long time now after they said ti would be working, I don’t expect that other sim of their’s to be functional anytime soon. Then again, I’m not an Armidi-goer.
Power to the people that do enjoy their clothing and find this useful, of course.
Well guess we will all need to build our own web stores now.
Of course some of us.. like me… won’t be needing a high bandwidth web hosting deal.
good job on that website Armidi.
WOW one year after i buy my giftcard! What a performance!
I don’t know – perhaps it is just me
But isn’t this the same design as:
http://www.net-a-porter.com
I know I’m about to draw heavy fire for this, but what’s with this cult around Armidi products? I’ve seen better stuff, I’ve seen worse stuff. I have bought 2 outfits there and I am personally not happy enough with them to go shop there again.
So please, someone enlighten me what the fuss is about, in polite terms, please, since I am aware I’m swimming very much against the stream here.
I’m sure it’s a standard shopping engine customized. That’s probably why you may have found similar ‘designs’. It’s akin to Amazon’s features- this new site which is nice. And as for the time it takes, I’m not knocking them on that- to fully customize a site would take me a while. Granted, little less than a year? All I am glad to do is finally use my giftcard from last year. Period.
FINALLY i can use up the gift card….
Since I am not allowed to shop, I am not even gonna look at the site. I am glad to know that those with gift cards can finally use them.
I am really sad to see that an announcement about a store, that may or may not be of interest to someone on a personal level, turns into another volley of the sort of intolerance and elitism that is becoming all too common in the largely insular and self-feeding fashion community. The “jajajas” and bling crowd seem like a pretty happy bunch to me, and if someone is annoying me with chat spam, I simply mute.
Pardon me for going off on this tangent, but having been away from the feeds and blogging for almost a month, I am a whole lot happier for it and don’t feel the need to have everything I see, or criticize everything that may not be my personal taste. I think at this point I would rather be a “Jaja-ing Blingtard” if it meant I could enjoy SL more and stop feeling like it was my ‘Job’ to be fashionable and productive.

While the websites may look similar it is just a clean black on white layout style. The html doe not at all resemble one another. Doesn’t even look like the same html coder or generator did the work.
I wonder if anyone responsible for the Armidi sim ever noticed the huge transparent prim that blocks you from getting back up the stairs.
I still see logo’s on my outfits from Armidi.
I guess flipping my two cents in again over the ‘jajas’: I’m typically not only chat spammed by these people, but gesture-spammed, noised-spammed, ran over, attacked by at Lucky Chairs, and otherwise given a poor shopping experience. Now, do I blame the store? Hell, no. Do I blame there culture? No still, as not everyone acts that way, and I don’t immediately think of all non-English-speaking users as ‘jajas’. Am I going to blame them as a lumped group? Yes.
If they did this in real life, it would be acceptable to complain and the stores would probably escort them out.
Can’t get into the site for anything. The sim is way to laggy and nothing loads. I can’t even browse to see the clothing they have up there without registering first. To NOT accept Yahoo, MSN or Hotmail wow that’s all I have. Then when you go to Website Help it loops you back to logging in. ?!? Sorry but I think I’m officially giving up on Armidi. What a shame
After coming here to view SLsecret, as i do religiously every sunday (its my church).. I saw this post and decided to try to look at the website. Sorry, im not registering just to browse a site. And upon scrolling through some comments here i read they do not accept any of the most popular email clients… Smart move.
Very weird that Yahoo isn’t good enough. Try a gmail- mine got me in.
SCD is one of those blog sites that I love to read, but always too scared to comment >.< Anyhows, this post was really the straw that broke the camels back- so to speak. The brand of elitism and uppitiness displayed by both the writer of this article as well as some of the commenters here is really quite disturbing. Second Life isnt a place where english speaking fashionista’s can walk around and act like they own the place, its an international community of people all seeking the similar things. Whether that be love, fun, a creative outlet, or a place to just socialize. The Jajaja-ing, blingy, clipclopping individuals are just as much a part of the community as those of you who “ONLY” wear armidi or dress according to what one of your fellow bloggers has deemed cool and hip. I know when I hear your “kind” and your dumbed down english dialogue (Hai! I haz can cheezborger) that it makes me feel sorry for you. Iris, I am pretty sure you arent a bigot, nor a racist…but I am also pretty sure those of us in the european community find your Jajaja comments as rude, insensitive, and elitist.
Now- I am off to go support one of the lesser known brands of fashion, jaja.
I hate living in a world where political correctness has become abused to the point where it is “racist” if one does not tolerate all bullshit under the sun.
Fuck “jajajajajajajajajajajajaja”. I hate reading it. It’s fucking annoying. There I said it. Eat me.
Like anything else in life, 1st or 2nd, anything you do will be annoying to someone. Bling in any form is a personal choice – like clicky heels or gesture speak.
People who like those kinds of things have been out there, are out there and will be out there. No amount of bitching will change their minds. Either a) live with it or b) leave.
We all have our personal thresholds of what is acceptable to us and what isn’t. There is no way in the world to satisfy all those at the same time, so just deal already.
I don’t like neither bling, nor clicky heels, nor gesture speak. Guess what, I’m putting up with it.
I can’t help but think those who do use them seem like much happier people than, say, people who complain about them in blogs.
See them, make fun of them in private if you have to, move on. It has nothing to do with political correctness, it’s being tolerant of another’s personal choice. Try it sometime.
Create ANOTHER e-mail address just to get into Armidi…pft..I think not.
Well, I’ve signed up (found it pretty easy) and even bought something – hoorah for never having to go suffer the lag again – AND you can browse via colour, which is a Good Thing.
its weird that people punish armidi for the occasional attitudes and actions of a few people who shop there..
Whee! That sim always makes me crash, so it’s good to not have to go there. I put in some Ls and bought a dress that comes with an extra buttock, from the looks of things.
So we’ve all got to poop rainbows about situations that we don’t like?
I do use the mute button when I need to, I do leave areas if the spam is to much, and I don’t berate users that do annoy me like I’ve seen others do. Does that mean I have to ‘deal with it’ when discussing the matter, too?
Again, when I think ‘jajas’, I *don’* think of people in general who use gestures, noisy attachments, or speak a foreign language. I think of a group of people in the extreme, who probably annoy the same people that enjoy what they are abusing. People that try to buy-off their annoying features by taking from what the kinder population likes. And I think that those who have complained about the situation see the same way, too.
This isn’t even why I don’t shop at Armidi. Many stores have this issue. I just don’t care for how they handle themselves as a business.
I was able to sign up on the site just fine. One question I had was wondering why I had a balance for $1200.00 on their site. I didn’t deposit any money when I registered so I have no clue how I have money in it. Maybe the shopping Gods took pity on my broke ass lol.
I love Armidi but I hate the fact Yahoo and Hotmail are not reliable enough? I’m not opening another account just for them on some other site that may or may not be reliable either. I think this is a neat idea to browse when you can’t get access to Sl, say at work, but I’m not keen on the registering without browsing (which reminds me of how the internet used to be pre 2000, there is no way to send an email to a help desk either. I hope Armidi put these things in the shops because I won’t be purchasing online, even if it looks appealing to me to do so.
I have tried in vain to register in order to be given the privilege to spend my Lindens at Armidi. I have AOL. Add that to the list of “not good enough to register.” I never even got an email response telling me as much! And I actually like a lot of their stuff!
Foo!
so it sort of functions like SLX. Does anyone know how to set up a kiosk to transfer funds to a website? cause this could be useful for a lot of us!
just be careful about what you’re doing if you go to armidi to fill your balance at their kiosk. someone (who i’ll call avatar A) got her lindens stolen today because another avatar (who i’ll call avatar B) may or may not have been standing in front of the kiosk on purpose and avatar A paid avatar B by accident. avatar B refused to give the money back to avatar A when A explained the error to B. this was discussed today in the fashcon chat. watch out for the scammers!
