If you’ve been around for the past month, you’ve probably noticed that SL Daily Deals has returned after a brief hiatus. You’ve also noticed that its had a bit of a makeover. In its previous form, there was one item offered in limited quantity for a low price. One of the draw backs was that, if you were at work, sleeping, or enjoying first life and missed the deal you were SOL. This time around that issue has been taken care of, however SL Daily Deals is no longer free.

I admit when I first saw the new plan for SL Daily Deals I was not convinced. In the current model, you pay a fee to become a member. The maximum is 2 months (56 days) : 350L. Each day a designer offers one item for 50 percent off that only members can purchase at the discounted price. In addition each designer for that month offers a few items for a discounted price between 10 and 25 percent off. Sounds good on paper, but I had a few concerns. If I purchased a 2 month membership how do I know which designers will be offered? How do I know that the item that will be offered will be of good quality and worth the membership? How do I know for that 2 month period that I will want to buy anything? Will I just be throwing 350L down the tubes in a gamble?

Express, the Master Mind behind the scenes and Luna Jubilee, in charge of marketing and coordination for SL Daily Deals and the Shopaholic Feed, have taken care of most of my concerns. At the same time, they have taken away the feeling of joining as a member being a big gamble. The Designers for the month are clearly listed on the SL Daily Deals website. Not only that, there is a calender so that you can see the day which each designer will offer their Daily Deal.

Within 2 daily deal purchases (not counting discount items purchased) I saved more then I paid for the membership fee. So far its been a win win situation. Can you tell? I’m totally happy with my purchases.

I’m not going to spend money to get a discount. Sorry. Of course the first version is going to be ‘good’ because of the way it’s set up. Draw you in with good deals, and you’re sucked in.
This appears to be another excuse to line the pockets of two people who set it up and taking advantages of designers to do so.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Hmm let me see. 2 month membership 350L. Example Zaara swimsuit fatpack 900L 50% off 450L. I saved 450L and I paid 350L for the membership. Hmmm… I think I just kept my pockets lined.
What you save > greater then what you spent. Same logic goes for wholesale club memberships.
I agree no thanks. I was interested when I got the numerous notices about this, but when I found out there was a fee, they can stick it.
after reading the organizer’s rules for this ridiculous idea I am amazed that no one is saying this is payola for blogging.
Designers pay $2500 per two months, and then have to offer some items at a steep discount? Their reward? They get blogged on some random blog.
I remember when encore Mayne got raked over the coals for this. Is this ok because the thinktank behind this is a nice person? They get money for doing what exactly? organizing it? a bit too much of a fee for not much work.
It’s the same thing as payola for blogging, and it’s a bit backwards.
I don’t get some of the comments, someone getting paid for the work they do is not lining their pockets. They are performing a task or providing a service and being recompensed for it.
And if you don’t think the designers involved are making more than membership costs them or people aren’t saving more than joining fee then you’re a fucking idiot.
