I’m also a 30K+ inventory carrier and tried to blog but still can’t seem to keep it up. My bad. Maybe I can now that my whirlwind SL romances have either bit the dust or been suspended due to a criticial case of RL on the other party’s part.

On that topic, #4 is evincing part of what I see as the problem with how people take SL romances. “I can’t go back; it’s keeping me too close to the one I lost!” The answer is, change to a new set of sims. Change avs and do the same. But if SL became nothing to you but a means of connecting to this one person, you played it wrong. I speak as someone who came damn close to taking things too seriously herself in that arena but pulled back from the brink.

And the issue of “too much like someone else” is both what’s holding me back from launching a business and making me want to. I can’t possibly ape what someone else is doing that perfectly. I’m not them. I just have to buck up and DO.

I would like to point out that this statement is not totally true. ALOT of people I know have huge inventories and don’t blog a thing. Some people just like to shop, me included. You may not know of us, but it doesn’t mean we don’t exist.

I’m still wondering what secret #7 refers to…… her skin? i don’t get it, any guess? I think she looks cute.

I have no intentions of outright copying anyone but seriously how many different coffee table styles can there be? How many 1 prim rugs with a texture slapped on them? How many pairs of jeans or white tank tops do we see in SL that all look the same? How many black pairs of buckled boots do we see in SL? How about legwarmers? Why do some people think it is so rare that 2 or more people could possibly have the same ideas of creation?

I have been to many places and seen something for sale that I had been thinking of making myself. What if I had a store and had made that similar item? Would I be called out as a copier scammer? I think some people need to get over themselves and realize that not everyone is out to ‘get them’ or copy them because it’s giving people like Post Secret #9 and others like me who would love to just see if people would buy their items that they took care to create.

Considering you’ve never been to Seven, you’ve certainly overanalyzed what it *might* be like.

I typically wouldn’t claim someone’s perception to be wrong, but my experience differs greatly from the one you’ve described above. That being said, the only thing that would convince you otherwise would be for you to experience it for yourself.

I guess the thing I find so amusing about all of this conjecture is that you (you encompasses many people that have responded negatively) feel that Seven is about mocking people, egos, judgment, and self-professed elitism. Yet here you sit emulating those very things in a public forum, conveniently shrouded by a pseudonym no less. If your perception of Seven is correct (I obviously have an opposing perception) you shouldn’t be disuaded at all as you would fit right in.

Though, I suppose you could point to the fact that in an environment where you can ‘be’ anything, they all choose to replicate whatever they see as beautiful in the plain old real world. Suggests a distinct lack of imagination in my view, so maybe Ann has a point!

All thumbs up if DJ Azu was turned down. I think that’s worth another 5K donation for better DJs which definatly are out there and who love the music and not their own voice.

And its not only the spam hell. They also destroy EVERY song with blathering all their vaporing blah blah blah. Yea that’s right.

If someone who knows the House Rules and that one point of it is that gestures are not allowed would ask me to allow gestures because he means to be THE DJ I would kick his soggy ass out of my club.

The fans of DJ Kromus and companies produce more gesture and noise spam than a million newbies could ever produce in their first year in second life plus a DJ that sounds like a soggy frie on speed.

As for the bashing of “celebrities” that frequent the lounge, c’mon you guys, we’re all a bunch of people sitting behind a computer, wearing pj’s and underwear. Everybody is approachable, if you leave your own insecurities at the door.

I think people’s issue is with the elitist marketing of Seven. In combination with the cover charge, VIP pass price, and related fashionista blog (which I do agree doesn’t seem to belong per se on the fashionplanet feed) it probably makes people feel the regular patrons/organizers consider themselves “above” other clubs or other clubgoers. But how is that different from how RL clubs market themselves? You pay more to go to a 25+ martini lounge with world class DJs, in RL, than you do to go out drinking at a pub with a jukebox. Both are fun in different ways. The martini lounge will market itself as a venue for sleek people in cocktail dresses who hire limos. The pub will market itself as a good time with beer specials and pay per view sports on TV. If you’re not Seven’s target market, the sleek cocktail-dress-wearing crowd… don’t go. Being offended by its marketing is silly. Hang out at a different venue instead.

I recognize a few of the “elitist” names who visit Seven and they’re not intimidating, mean, or snobby at ALL. Being scared of them is just silly.

I havent been to the one in Sl.. or the one in rl for that matter…lol.

One of those secrets has me scratching my head too – not mentioning which one.
