  1. A Nony Mouse says:

    1) I know a lot of people throw around the word “fag” like it’s nothing, or say things like “that’s so gay”. I really find these terms offensive, and I’ll usually say something in private to that person. Usually I’ll get the response “ugh! Lighten up! It’s just a joke!”, but sometimes I’ll change their minds. In any event, they stop using those terms in front of me. At least they respect my opinion enough to stop saying those things when I’m around. Perhaps you need to tell your friend privately to knock it off, and why that term is hurtful to you. If they’re your real friend, they will respect your opinion.

    3) Luckily, most people on the grid don’t care enough about someone’s rezzdate before they buy something from them.

  2. Yurik D. says:

    1) I agree with you Nony Mouse and the person who made the secret…People do not realize that using that word and saying “it’s just a joke” is very hurtful. You are just basically saying someone’s sexuality choice is just a joke. I notice the males usually say “fag” or “man, you are gay” (and other ways) more to police other males who have “stray” from being heterosexual or (like many people like to throw around) “normal”. People need to rethink their stereotypes and think before their bias thoughts will hurt someone or hurt them. :3

    2) Tell her your feelings or just mute. Mute is your friend. *pats*

  3. Shimere Felisimo says:

    1) I couldn’t agree more.

    3) Actually, I’m hesitant to buy from designers who started over two years ago. I’ve noticed that a lot of them haven’t kept up with the technology. Every time I see a beautiful texture with seams that don’t line up, I wonder why that person isn’t using AvPainter…I mean, it costs like USD$11? And ugly prim shoes? I can buy enough sculpt maps to make myself a wardrobe of shoes! I think hair is the worst. There are a few (not all) hair designers who seem to be making the same kind of thing they made in 2007. Awkward styling, bad textures…I can train a monkey to make hair textures with Filter Forge. I have a lot more patience with new designers because I know the learning curve on some things can be steep. But at least I expect improvement!

  4. Stella says:

    1. I hear a lot of people walking around using the “f” and “n” word like it’s a normal part of their regular vocab. I try to steer clear from those people.

    2. I’d confront the person head on. If “we all know” then it shouldn’t be a problem. You should have a drama queen intervention.

    3. I don’t look at rez dates before I buy from anyone.

  5. SRS BSNSS says:

lol @ 3. know of any good deals at freebie dungeon? i hear they have the best pre-06 fashion on the grid!

  6. Dusky Jewell says:

#3. You are patient. I couldn’t tolerate snobbery on that level.

  7. Lauren says:

omg 1) i feel the exact exact exact same way i lost a friend that was gay and even when he was alive i hated hearing anyone saying “thats gay” or fag
    now its even worse!
    i hate that!!!

  8. Chandni says:

@Shimere Felisimo: i do not use AV painter because it does not run on my computer. I cannot afford an update to a newer OS, so i have to keep up with Photoshop and without AV Painter. Does that make me a bad designer? i hope not i just can’t run it :)

  9. jozie says:

I use the word gay to describe things. My family is ok with it and they’re pretty gay themselves. Seriously. No joke. They’re really homosexuals.
