Since I think #5 is about us, I’d like to point out that we never said we didn’t like Drama. We like Drama, she’s cool. We take her out for coffee before work.
But other than that, bring it. I have a feeling Drama will be stopping by soon.
1. They can become annoying but I’ve just started to mute the stomach wearers before I get too ticked about it. The only thing that irks me about the baby roleplaying is having someone TP me to visit a prim baby. I don’t like to fake excitement it can be a bit uncomfortable. The vampire bite hud makes me livid when people send a hud request before even saying a word to you.
2. Don’t send a message. There are two people I assume invovled in this. If it’s meant to happen they will contact you or an opportunity will present itself.
3. Keep working on your designs and try to please yourself. Don’t worry about the “SL fashion community”.
5. I’m curious about how this destruction will happen.
I agree sooo much with number 1.
I have alot of “tummies” on my mute list. lol
To number 3, keep up the work. You’ll get to where you want to be eventually, and never give up even if you think your stuff isn’t top notch. (I still think I suck too!)
I don’t get number 2 or 4… Guess i’m not supposed to.
And number 5.. Sounds like a personal vendetta.. which isn’t healthy. And probably should seek a hobby outside of SL. Just my opinion.

#1. Sometimes parents and their ‘kids’ come to the sim where I work. We roleplay with them. We offer the kids candy and try to lure them away from their parents. All of a sudden the parents don’t want to roleplay anymore. Go figure..
1. Thankfully, I am not around the talking fetuses enough to be irritated by them, but the few times I have been they are very creepy.
3. Unfortunately many clothing makers suck in SL, and there are some very successful designers who are loved on SL, whose products I would never wear. But what else is there to do on SL, other than make stuff to sell? Make your stuff, spread your money around within the industry (shows and advertising), and you’ll be loved and accepted too.
5. I love a good show. Bring it.

1) I do feel you on that one. I don’t mind other people roleplaying, but to force it on others isn’t fair… tummy talkers I can deal with, but I don’t see why other people have to behave for the sake of other peoples sl children when it isn’t their rp.
4) Sounds like a lot of people I know, same thing different day. Just let them destroy themselves if they are this bad.

Amen on #1. I was in a shopping sim the other day when I overhead a woman in public chat say, “Put the necklace on you f*cking bitch.” I thought, hmmm, that’s not very nice. Until I turned around and saw some naked woman on all 4s and a leash and her mistress. Granted, it was a mature shopping sim, but keep that shit in IMs for crissakes. And don’t subject me to looking at your naked nastiness on a chain.

To #3: Don’t design for others. Design for yourself, because you love creating. Don’t worry about the love of the fashion community; they’re fickle lovers anyway and it’ll never last. Would you wear your creations yourself? If so, you’re doing it right! Keep it up!
Aww ty for your comments… and in answer… I love designing, and yes I always wear my own creations, I never really wear other peoples unless its something I haven’t made and want to wear it.
1) How to ward off the damned vamp bite requests? Bloodlines has a free garlic necklace that will stop the requests once and for all. Works for me.

I wonder why SLSecret is more and more about “What I hate about your habits on SL” or even “OMG I hate this girl but am too passive-aggressive to do anything but write about it with an extremely thin veil on someone else’s website” than “What I’m too ashamed/emo/mushy to admit to the public” as the original Post Secret is? Reading these is like staring at a train wreck. I can’t help but read them every week, and most of the time I’m disappointed. -_- Have the submitters ever been to the real Post Secret?

1) Dealing with SL children is an experience I find grating to say the least. I look after enough children in RL as it is, and I’m pretty sure they don’t speak with a ‘w’ in word or continue to suck pacifiers when they’re 6. Also, if someone’s kids suddenly went running up to a stranger and started bothering them, they’d probably tell their kids to knock it off, not spam gestures in encouragement.
@ the person being spoken to in #4. Whatever it is- please do not do it.

#1 i totally agree with. was at a wedding last week and the kid was a holy terror..instantly hated me..vocalised that feeling numerous times..called me names..and pretty much griefed through the whole entire ”wedding” and ”reception”..the mom thought it was funny, oh until she rp’d being abusive “grabbing” the kids hair and yanking her down into the chair..which did nothing, obviously because RP isnt REAL *rolls eyes*. What seriously creeps me out is these SL “KIDS” are adults RPing..so i dont feel as though its right that i have to pretend to find them adorable, when they’re super creepy.
@5: Making threats over the internet is pretty dumb. Real dumb. Like the police can investigate you and make all your coworkers think you are an idiot dumb (yea for comment like that dumb). Next time just leave off that stuff like the last sentence. No matter how much you want to say it there are things that if said can haunt you for a very long time.

I hate sl kids. There is something wrong and unnatural about adults pretending to be children. I feel strongly that this child av’s should be banned because SL is an adult environment. It says so when you sign up. Granted, we’ll never pin down every undersage person on the main grid, but why encourage it with child avs? Please keep your “children” on PG sims. “Protect” them from adult content like your role as a “parent” demands. And save the rest of us from being creeped out.

1- WORD. I was at Awesome Designs once during one of their sales back when lag was really easy to find instead of just moderately easy. I was trying to work my way through the crowd and slightly brushed one woman from behind. She chewed me out for daring to bump into a pregnant woman. Ex-CUSE me, sister, but it’s impossible to tell from behind. I’ve met some fairly not-creepy adults RPing as kids, but man, is it ever an excuse for some people to act out and get away with it. They ought to just create alt accounts and grief sandboxes if they need that much stress relief.

Another thing that really.. I mean..REALLY freaks me out… Are the couples who go into the clinics and give “birth” and are so serious about it, the man is telling her to push and such, and they get really emotional and upload the birth video no youtube. Ok.. That is so scary.

1. The only thing I don’t like about SL Pregnancy is when someone is carrying and never gives birth or like gives it up after few days, yanno like getting knocked up and not going through with it. I think that is sending a negative message, what happened? did you get an abortion? a miscarriage? whattt?!!! Don’t get pregnant if you’re not gonna have actual child avatar play them out when you supposedly give birth.

1. My favorite part about those belly talkers is they always seem to be dancing it up in a nightclub… and I am talking those sexy azz roll on the floor and gyrate kinda dances… for hours, and hours… while the belly chats away about growing and such. I just wanna slap them and get all RP back in their faces, it’s like the RL equivalent of seeing a 7 month preggers woman dancing it up, drink in hand at 2 am… GO HOME and get some rest for your fetus, and my sanity.

I sometimes wear a child avi and she is not slutty in the least. More of a cross between ‘little house on the prairie’ and smokey the bear with her ranger hat and backpack. It feels less laggy plus she can get away with wearing roller skates, on my regular avi it feels silly. I’ve never been bothered by any pervs, and no one has ever called me creepy (at least not to my face) The slutty lookin kids irk me too.
@ Maegen and Noor- if you don’t like the secrets, why don’t you create your own secrets instead of whining about them? SL Secret, to me, is about whatever the secret creator wants it to be about, whether it’s venting, being emo, being vindictive, etc. That’s why it’s called a secret.
Oh and this is SLsecret not Post Secret-get used to it. I for one prefer some variety instead of all emo/mushy stuff. That would get old pretty quick.

Of course 4 yr old girls wear skimpy skirts (usually much more skimpy than the skirts 14 yr old girls wear). And of course they want to play with mom’s make-up. And even though they don’t have any boobs, they proudly wear bikini tops in public swimming pools… while at the same time their mom may forgo the top to avoid the tan lines
@ Isara I’m not sure exactly what you’re saying to James. Everyone raises their 4 year old differently. So I don’t know where you’re living either. I think what James is pointing to is the fear of child avs being for more than just fun family recreation.
On another note…
I don’t see child avatars that often anymore. When they’re around I usually don’t talk to them. Anyone who uses “u” for you or puts a “w” in words that don’t require them usually gets a mental ignore. That means I don’t mute them but I usually forget they’re there.
@ Poster no 3….. gah that is sad…. to make a secret about yourself saying you can’t design and then post below in the same topic thanking people for their reactions…. imagine if all the designers would do that… man SL secret would be boring with all those attention seekers….
If you are really serious about becoming a good designer then instead of wasting your time looking at others and wondering what they think…use that time to learn more and become better or stop designing and find something else to do. Other then that know you can’t please everyone anyway so better stop trying.
On a sidenote, is it me or do the secrets become more and more boring? And if so, is that due to selection or people simply don’t make any nice and funky secrets anymore?

I wouldnt wear your stuff, but good for you for rawkin your own look. It takes guts to venture out into the unknown. I agree with Ano though, dont worry about what others think..But also….Take the time that you’re using making an SL secret and then replying to it to get better at your trade.

If i had acted the way these kids are acting to total strangers my mom would have locked me in the closet. Not joking, my mom was hardcore like that.
I was 4 once..and then i grew up. And i dont think i ever spoke with a lisp and replaced u with a w even when i was little.
I have met a few SL kids who i later met the adults of. for them it worked to have a child avatar because they were designers and such and just needed an ALT to play on. They still acted like adults in their child avatar and didnt grief people. They didnt walk around talking like idiots..and they sure as hell didnt expect people to PG their speech for them, though.. my friend who wanted to “adopt” them…did..which annoyed me like crazy.
I think SL kids should not be allowed on mature sims…i’ve heard of some places that do have this policy..but it would make my SL alot more fun if it was a grid wide ENFORCED rule.

@Ano, Shamrawk et al – I spend plenty of time designing, and have read this blog to break up the 12 or so hours a day I spend staring at photoshop. Sorry that I felt the need to participate for the first time since it’s conception. Yes I feel a little dissilusioned with my designs.

It is an adult environment, meaning for those adults behind the avie…PG sims were not made for kid avies, they were made long before the first kid avatar. That is a huge misconception. Just because they are in a kid shape, does not mean they are underage. It is just their choice of what they chose to be as any other avatar. Just remember, that there are probably avatars out there that find you creepy. Theres enough room for all of us
London, yes I spend between 8 and 12 hours a day in photoshop… my store is a full time hobby for me at the minute.
My stores are full time as well but even I don’t end up working 12 hour days on a daily basis. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever worked a 12 hour day. Too much time spent doing this and you’ll end up burnt out with an inventory filled with the same thing in a different color/pattern. The time you spend away from photoshop is just as important as the time you spend in it.

I was once at an OOC party at an RP sim I played at, and this one girl’s talking belly kept going on every 5 minutes about how her ‘back hurts from the weight of her bump but the baby will be born soon’ or…something of that ilk, and we looked at her, and she wasn’t wearing any kind of pregnant shape at all, so my husband asked her ‘what bump?’ and she said something like ‘i’m pregnant teeheehee!’. And so we looked at her again, and she was wearing this skintight leather catsuit-ish thing, and stiletto boots, and I pointed out that she didn’t /look/ very pregnant, and her reply was ‘Well I couldn’t really wear this with a pregnant shape, could I?’
At which point we gave up even trying to talk to her. If you’re gonna inflict your tummytalker on everyone, letting everyone know that you want to eat saltines and the baby can hear your heartbeat and so on, and hey, ONO, heartburn, at LEAST stick with the RP yourself enough to sacrifice your slutwear and leggy skank shape for a week or two. Those things CAN be turned to silent, you know. -_-

London gives some great advice there though. Stepping back sometimes is not only good for preventing burn-out -which CAN happen, I REALLY need to clean out all the half-finished junk in my invo :/, but you’ll see inspiration everywhere.
@London – I’ll keep that in mind, because i’ll admit i’ve been getting more than a little burnt out recently and had a lack of ideas. I don’t just use photoshop for sl though, I am an artist and use it for that when i don’t want to sketch or paint.

I don’t do the 12 hours in 1 go obviously… as I do have rl to deal with but I am guilty of spending from 6pm-3am almost solidly
I now have this idle fantasy that someone someday will do a pregnancy simulator that includes an AO to make you waddle worse than a newbie, slow your base speed down, restrict you from running, and give you damage in enabled sims for pushing it too far. Never in reality will you see women within days of giving birth who walk like runway models.

#1 reminded me of something, at my blog’s event recently, I was up in the event space with a co-writer, and there were some people of course partaking in freebies, as well they should. We’d gotten a themed cake, just for fun.
There was a woman with a tummy talker there, an it kept talking about how the baby was hungry and that she should eat. My friend, the co-writer, playfully mentioned that the ‘pregnant’ ‘mommy’ should have a slice of cake. Harmless enough right? Oh no.
In IM this woman’s ‘partner’ (who was also a woman, which leads to the question of how she even got knocked up in the first place) starts berating and screaming at my co-writer for even INSINUATING that the woman might need or want a piece of cake and was severely offended by the whole situation. It was hilarious, and sad. And bitches like that? Ya’ll can fuck off.

I thought about having an SL baby once, then decided better of it based on the fact that I would be left with stretch marks and no amount of PS enhancement would get rid of them.
Now Ive always wondered but never asked , are these miracle babies that pop out after a week or is this the full 9 month duration ?
I dont really get the whole rp thing in any context , but each to their own as long as it doesnt encrouch on my happiness.
@ 3 If you enjoy doing it , then carry on. Who cares what people think. I have a shop full of stuff that doesnt sell from one week to the next , but Im happy when I hear the tills and some nice person has purchased something. x

@5 Drama is such an overused word in SL. The word drama should be banned full stop. Drama I can live with as long as it doesnt involve me.
