I would, and I’ve been there out of character once to visit a dear friend, but I’m a fierce roleplayer – and a fierce feminist, so things there would just make me terribly angry. Oh well.

I am a Gorean roleplayer, I know the difference between being in character, and when I need to be out of character and I dress accordingly. Just like I wouldn’t wear my lobster costume to a funeral, I wouldn’t walk around ETD with my ladygarden hanging out. Time and a place and all that.

Yup, I’m all for freedom for expression, but pixelated or not, some people are fed up of seeing fannys and men’s todgers hanging out over the grid. Prudes? Maybe… but I for one wouldn’t want my greengrocer to have his dirty spuds hanging over my fruit and veg? (Off the point slightly but I just like the term “dirty spuds” and was looking for an excuse to use it)

I guess some people are tired of shopping in stores where they have to mute most people to block bling or their gestures, adjust light settings to get rid of facelight glare and turn down sound to mute collars which have more bells than Santa’s sleigh. Yes, I’m probably one of the grumpy ones, so stores, take note of online shopping a la armidi – keep us grumbly ones in our skyboxes so we cannot spread our hatred through the metaverse.

Armidi, LeLutka, Muism, Seven Ultra Lounge – all the beautiful sims and stores, I see them as roleplaying a lifestyle aspiration. Some people want to feel famous, beautiful and fabulous dahrlings – that is what they come to SL for. But sooner or later, someone with a huge watermelon arse, or a person in nadu will come into view, shattering that illusion. Yes, it’s bloody elitist, but it’s part of their chosen SL lifestyle. These people don’t go into Gor, they aren’t allowed in most sims anyway because of what they wear and not being “Gorean” so why do they have to accept half naked women and men being in places where they like to hang out in? (IMHO, more people should explore Gor because some of the builds are bloody beautiful). Fuck it, if Goreans want to extend their roleplay into non-Gorean stores and clubs, then non-Goreans should be able to ride around Midgaard or wherever on the back of flying geese and not fear the angry IM’s and land bannings. Tolerance – it’s what it all comes down to. You can’t expect people to be tolerant of your ideals whilst not respecting others.

I try and move on, most people don’t have a fucking clue about the whole BDSM scene and mix it up with Gor and some other nonsense they pulled off the grid anyway. Ponygirls in silks, men being white silk to their wives??? I roll my eyes and TP away, back to the safety of Grump H.Q in the sky, chanting over and over in my head “tolerance, understanding, peace”.

I have that blog on my google reader but I have not seen it on a feed anywhere. Always thought it was my secret news source. It is where I found my favorite proxy server to use before then I never commented on blogs. You are probably right about the name thing. I thought she was one of them based on the shortened name. Only 1 person on that really bugged me and I don’t shop at their store anyways.

What makes me scratch my head at this point is not any issue of freebies, but issue with the content creators in that group. Theyre dellusional. 99.9% of them own shops that may or may not have been good stores back in 2006. It is 2009 now, they need to look around and realize all of the new BETTER brands in SL, making BETTER content, and THAT is why their sales are down – New and better stores to spend your $L at boyyyy.

I think that is a problem with humanity, we all tend to live in our own little subgroups thinking we are IT and theres no other way of life. Just look at how America acts.

In defence to some freebie takers who may come across as rude. Most SL shoppers do not scan the blogs so they don’t know SL shopping etiquette. Then you have people who have no idea who owns the shop to say “Hey thanks” if the owner is in the store. Even then I know that I’ve gone to shops while the owner was building something and didn’t want to destract them. Some of them have stopped what they’re doing to thank me. I thought in the beggining that this was possibly done by a store owner but after hearing about the chat log I’m leaning more towards that theory.

Why you gotta be such a playah hater? If looking like the way they look makes them happy then that’s absolutely fantastic! They are not there to please you, they are there to shop and I salute them for not caring about what others might think. It’s their SLife, and they’re just expressing themselves the same way you are with your avatar’s looks, if you don’t like what you see then turn away or attach a mega prim on your left hip and adjust it so it blocks them from your view.

I say as long as they aren’t breaking any sim/parcel rules, not harassing anyone, and just doing their thing then you let them be. It’s ok to make fun of them amongst your friends, but its not ok to tell them to change their ways (that and you’re not their MASTER).

Also, what if somebody really doesn’t have dignity and class? why bother pretending?

As for the people who insist on wearing the subby AOs in non-play or non-Gorean space, I find it stupid. I also find prim boobs, avs with the saddlebag slider set to 100, and bling that goes out past the av’s body stupid. It’s not a perfect world. Today, I saw a couple of women where one was wearing the subby AO and the other was clearly her mistress. In Alphamale and Blacklace. I rolled my eyes, grabbed the Greatest Love box they were next to, and TPed on. Get back to me when the nitwits start having sex on the floor of the store, ‘kay?

I do a lot of the hunts. When I am on the hunt I do tp in grab the freebie and tp out as I want to finish the hunt. After done I unpack the goodies and sort. If I like the freebies I will almost always go back to the store for a second look. I spend a LOT of L’s in sl on clothes and have found some really nice stores due to the hunts. TY to all the designers that give us freebies

Everyone always has to point fingers at something or someone. Freebies are the victim right now. And in moderation, I thought they were a good thing.

There is a huge difference between public nudity and sexual acts, vs a gorean girl in silks on a chain. lol

But of course, it boils down to what someone is and isnt accepting of.

A child seeing a girl giving a BJ to a guy, is devestating. A child seeing a girl in silks on the floor would make them think “mommy what is she doing?” Theres just a huge difference.

In SL, it also depends whether the sim is mature or pg. If i were on a mature sim and i saw someone doing what you described id just be like “wtf luls look at those 2 idiots!” and move on.

If goreans are THAT upsetting to you, you need to come to a place within yourself where you just do not care anymore. its a peaceful place to be

Okay I’m weary of the freebie bashing. This is my Modest Proposal.
Let’s have a scripter write a script that requires them to say something either self deprecating about their need/want of freebies OR in High Praise of the Mighty Creator Who Is bringing them this might gift, in CHAT. Make them SHOUT IT – and ONLY THEN will they get their logo tee/dress/shoes/lingerie/skin/poke in the eye with a sharp stick. This should satisify the rage/ego of the designer who feels the need to be so put off by giving gifts.

Now, may we please have something else to bash?

All this girl seems to be doing is the submissive kneeling and crawling bit. So what? What if she was kneeling and crawling because she was playing at being a puppy in full puppy gear or as a Neko? So what? Was the store in a mature sim? Yes. Was she naked? No. Was she engaged in a sex act? No. I say again: So What?

Plenty of people run around in their roleplay gear regardless of what they roleplay. So what?

Bottom line: No one is making you do it. No one is making you dress in a camisk and locking a collar around your neck. No one is making your kneel and crawl. What do you care if this is the way this person enjoys their Second Life?

I’m fully aware that submissives need hair/skin/clothes/shoes too. I’m not suggesting that they can’t go to mainstream stores to shop. I *am* suggesting that they remember where they are, and dress appropriately. Then after they tp out, they can go back to crawling around on the floor half naked.
