#7 seriously? you need to learn how to read better, 5100L is for the fatpack of 12 skins, and demo’s are available at the mainstore, nothing wrong with that.
lot’s of creators sell fatpacks of skin on xstreet with no demo. if it as 5100L for one skin and no demo, yeah that would nuts.

Regarding #3, what I don’t understand is why some stores are allowed to get away with this more than once. Even if the organizers adopted a generous “three strikes you’re out” policy, some dead wood would have been cleared out by now. Why don’t the organizers go through the lms on Fridays themselves?

Creating new products on a schedule is unbelievably grueling. Nobody actually “lives” in SL. We all have real lives that interfere with our ability to pariticate in things from time to time. And sometimes the creative spark just isn’t there. I’m honestly very impressed by the people who DO manage to create new things week after week, few that they are.
That having been said, it would be nice if creators who knew they could not keep up with the pace would just bow out, as Marni did. I’m sure there are peeps on a waiting list somewhere who deserve a shot.

Renee I thought that stores could put out an item they already have, just at the sale price of 50L, rather than having to make something new.
According to the notecard sent out every week:
“The item might be something from the store marked down, or maybe an exclusive, special item. Each week the designers and items will rotate.”
At least this is what it is supposed to be.
#7 there is a bitch war going on, new skin shop opens, old skin shops posts copy allegations with skin comparisons that make no sense at all, new skin shop bitches back with even more nonsense arguments, old skin shop posts stupid uninspired secret on SCD, new skin show will spam SCD with even more nonsense once the see it, and so on and so on
yeah, the “New Skin Shop” has been around for a long time. but it is a crazy war. i wish it would stop already

I hope “puts the same old recolored crap out” isn’t a reference to Schadenfreude’s offerings, because Allegory always puts out TWO items, one of which is something different (and usually a color or version exclusive to 50L Friday) and the vests, which have only been available through limited-time events, are a secondary item (so that there is always something unisex available).
But then, I’m disinclined to be annoyed by repetition of items that don’t float my boat, since that just saves me L$50 I can spend on something I like more.

@ 3 I think there is far to many flf type groups/events now, and most of the vendors in flf seem to pop up on these new sale events to. So I would imagine it be tiring to create new exciting things every week for all the myriad of events out there, that they are participating in. However, I also think vendors should not take on more than they can handle, and they would do far better business with folks if they DID create something new every week. After all isn’t that why vendors join these sale things?? If they can’t keep up, then back out. Or perhaps the organizers of these events should limit them, and maybe have them once a month. It’s all over saturated now imo.
re: #7, what’s on Xstreet would seem to be the fatpack. In the listing, it says demos are available in-world and lists the location. At that location, individual skins are available for purchase. Lazy secretmaker FAIL.

I haven’t found 50L Friday worth the trouble the last few weeks. 60L Weekends at least post all of the weekend’s offering on their blog, so you don’t have to teleport to each and every location just to be disappointed with the product after it rezzes.
I think #1 might be a reference to the posh/lamb argument that has been going back and forth in SL Secret for a couple weeks now.
#5, if you think a friend is stealing your style, I can see why you’d be a bit annoyed but if you’re really original, you just keep updating it, changing it up, keeping it fresh-people who don’t have creativity and stylishness of their own will always be one step behind.
I love 50l Friday but all of the other “discount” events crack me up.
I guess that is what happens when you come up with something original and successful – You get a lot of knock offs.

No, sorry. I don’t agree with you. I think every designer has a right to be apart of a discount event as should they have a right to create a discount sale.
When a sale event is run by picky, self-absorbed designers who won’t give smaller stores who are actually GREAT a chance, they can fuck off! There’s so many discounted sales with great stores. I’m personally glad that a lot of shops are stepping up and joining events. This gives all of the residents a perfect opportunity to see that there’s something else out there besides Lamb (barf), Truth (ew.), FD, Atomic and lord knows how many others.

#7 – Total fail for not reading, or comprehending for that matter, the advertisement properly and for failing miserably to mask the content creator, store and item. Thus your entire purpose of a SLsecret is invalid.
Were you really trying to make a point or did you go on a personal hunt for anything that might be blasphemous enough to the SL community so you could be cool and popular and turn it into an SLsecret?
Guess my time posting here is up. For months my comments have said “Awaiting moderation” and then when I come back it is gone. Nothing bad said, nothing against SCD, etc. Thought it was a problem with wordpress but now I dont think so. Oh well. This time, it was a comment to “Richard”.. If he can spout nonsense I should be able to respond. Shrug
Yeah.. I’m totally ‘spouting’ off nonsense. Actually, I find what I said to be true. I don’t think that only the A-lister designers should be apart of a discount event. It is NOT fair. There’s no such thing as a SLeb that most of you seem to get all googlie-eyed about. We’re all real people trying to DO something productive in SL, other than flying around with a prim penis out.
I find it hilarious how these so-called SLebs seem to be able to get away with everything and be able to do anything they want. Why? Is it because they make great PIXEL stuff? Please. They are human beings just like us and they should be held accountable for what they do/say.
The smaller shops are great if you actually open your eyes and explore the smaller events. Give it a couple of months and those of you who don’t agree with me now, WILL eventually start giving the smaller events a try. You’ll thank me later

#2 Plurk is the hotbed of bitching, and comments such as “I had toast for breakfast” gets several replies with smilies and words of congratulations from other plurkers that you didn’t choose the muesli.
#3 You try and make something unique in a week, hold down a full time job, and have a family. (probably, not saying all creators have that, but in general, they do have a life away from the keyboard!)
What takes you one little click of the TP button, takes hours of agonising over photoshop etc and severely frazzled eyes.
Don’t like what’s in the stores? Make your own clothing/hair/skins/whatever. Stop moaning because people won’t put their lives on hold to make L$50 creations for you.

Are you really THAT unique that you have never bought something because you thought it looked good on somebody else?
I know it’s annoying, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery – accept it, and try and keep one step ahead of the pack. Create your own unique stuff which when you grow tired of it, you can flog to the rest of SL.

We all have heard of the organizer of FLF, OMGWTF Barbeque. She owns a store on the Starlust continent and like many store owners on Starlust, they’re part of a stupid cult. They’re all friends with each other and all of their stores look the same. Store owners who aren’t friends with the owners of Starlust, however, get their rental requests ignored. I think FLF works like Starlust which is why I love these new discount events like PT, RF, TT, etc
Sure, Starlust is a cult and we sacrifice a unicorn and/or a virgin every friday.
No, honestly, I am part of starlust too – without being in any clique, without being bestest friend of anyone there or whatever – and without being part of FLF. It’s the nicest and funniest community I ever had a shop in, with talented builders, fair and uncomplicated rental conditions, great events and very very helpful owners. Yes, they have waitinglists – what a surprise. and maybe not everyone gets the store he/she wants – oh well, thats life.
As for FLF – whats wrong with having a great marketing idea and realizing it together with people you like or who’s stuff you like? Customers don’t have a ‘right’ to get their brandnew 50-L-Awesomeness every friday – and designers can’t claim a ‘right’ to be part of it. It’s not a charity event for poor designers or customers, nor was it invented to guarantee equal opportunities for everyone. Yeah, i would love to be part of it too – but not everybody can so i am looking for alternatives.
And though I personally didnt join any knock offs (yet) – whats wrong with adepting an idea. The copies wont ruin the original. But it would ruin the original to accept each and every shop. And the way how FLF is run – even though i might do it differently,- it’s absolutely their business not mine.

Erm. I’m part of Starlust and I’m not in their cult or any clique for that matter, I do my own thing but I appreciate the hard work put into their builds/sims so I’m happy to be there.
These hunt/sales are generally hosted by creators that make pretty much boring things and need some much-needed focus on them. The added bonus is to enjoy a mock feeling of superiority by accepting/dismissing other designers. Some people are d*cks, that’s life, do you own thing with a stupid grin on your face and you’ll be better off.
#7 – Yet another skin where the face is noticeably lighter than the body – fail! And what’s with the trend for oversized heads on the avatars modeling this stuff? lamb and Posh (*yawn*) sale boards also feature these misshapen wretches – I assume someone on Plurk took the notion that SL models are fatheads too literally.

50L Fridays won’t stop the broken search from causing creators to stop wanting to bother. There is a lot going on right now. Try patience. Fact is they don’t have to participate. Nor does anyone have to be in hunts or have any group gifts or anything free for the self entitled.
In fact SL would be much better off if everyone just stopped giving quality stuff away free.

First to address 3. I Understand completely. Hell I feel the pressure that is pressed upon us designers in the FLF circuit. I personally try my best to come out with new things. But there is less and less motivation as time goes on. On top of that I have a very unyielding rl that allows for releasing a new one thing every time I’m up. Not to mention motivation gets eaten now that there are more FLF haters than ever. Yes no one has ever really mentioned my store due to it not being overtly popular. (Which should disprove any anonymous believes that only snooty/cliquey/popular/sameshit stores participate) but there still is hate that I feel. For example I get many MANY people coming through my store after I spent a week working on new eyes to get either a tp/and/dash or someone making a rude comment about how “Ho-hum. All that’s here are just eyes. GAY!â€. In my opinion MANY flf shoppers have become just as diluted as they say us designers have. Dare I say even greedy.
By the way. It’s up to the designer if they wish to put up a brand new made item every time. Or if they care to discount an item like FLF was originally made out to be. (I would know I have been there since day 1)
Also… Starlust has a waiting list. Not a friend list.
Why doesn’t the 50L list ever vary? It seems a lot of pressure to put on the same designers week after week. Also it means a lot of repetitive offerings.
