@9. I don’t get why people get so pissed off over receiving multiple notices in one day? I am in a group for music and there are probably 30 a day. When I get tired of it I turn notices off in the group or let them go to my alt so I can see them in email. Is simply clicking decline really that big a deal?
the big deal is that enough is enough, ppl hate spam. It’s a good way to have ppl leave your group. and for the record, I’ve left a lot of music groups for the same reason.
i couldn’t agree more with #9, i’m close to leaving said group any day now.

I feel the exact same way for number 1- But no you are not a sucker-nor a doormat-you are just one of the rare type of residents in SL that are not completely selfish. I would suggest maybe investing your time in a non-profit organization to help others out-but remember don’t expect someone to help you when you volunteer your time.
Volunteering is a act that is supposed to be uncompensated.
If a group irritates you, it’s completely in your control to either turn off notices or quit the group. If you have not, obviously you get something out of the group that is more valuable to you than the irritation the spam creates.
I know right? OR maybe they should talk to the group owner? Let them know the concerns. Communication is a powerful tool.

3. Yea I alt sometimes and I get IMs from people “are you an alt?”. Even though I never spoke to them in local chat or IM and don’t know them on my main. I don’t alt to take advantage of people or spy. I don’t re-friend and not tell people who I am. If I’m not messing with you don’t worry about it.

9. Maybe you should leave the group. I’ve found that I’m bothered by spam from the stores I don’t shop that often but look the other way when my favorite stores do it.

#9 I know right! I turned notices off and check them once in a while for the free stuff. It’s made my SL a lot quieter.
About #9 , everyone is saying leave the group but they have a SOM which does the same thing. I do think the group owners should care they they are annoying customers.
it’s kinda a pain in the ass to spend $250 to join an update group and have to leave because they can’t stop spamming. If it were free to join i’d agree but i resent paying for spam.
1) I had the same problem when I first started in SL… then I learned how easy it is to tell poisonous friends to just go to hell, and make some really great friends on SL. I love my friends now ♥

@ #9 : Use the Emerald viewer and turn off the notices then the groupchats are also disabled…you will just miss some cool infos when you don’t check back regularly..i speak from experience

#9 I had to unsubscribe from their SOM for this same reason…it was driving me nuts and not too much in sl gets on my nerves like that…it’s unfortunate because you can’t turn off notices and I have no space for that group…the owners should know that this is driving people away

Did it ever occur to you that he was playing with you and your friendship with your friend to get what he wants? Or is he so wonderful that he would never manipulate anybody to get a few minutes of cheap xxx with a gullible girl on the internet?
So you had a moment of fun with this guy. But, when he goes back to his girlfriend, which he probably will, though you’ll have the knowledge that you cybered him (big whoop) – but when they are together, sharing special times (albeit virtual) and secrets – you’ll just be the tramp out in the cold.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to bitch, complain and be rude about things like groups and subscribos. You volunteer to join them, you’re not forced. Sure some groups you actually have to pay to join, but again, thats YOUR choice. No-one forced you to pay out your lindens to join a group that gives out group gifts pretty much every other week that I bet you don’t bitch about!
Turn off your notices, close the chat window or group notice and carry on with your SL.
Or are you so petty you need something to complain about?

Ah, yes, the old “it’s not your real name” argument. Here’s the thing, my personality is the same as “Sileny’s” personality. Many people who know “Sileny” know who I am in RL. So when I comment as Sileny I am commenting as ME. You can’t even bring up enough guts to say your “pseudo” name because you are scared that some online people will bring backlash against you. My second life is not so important that I can’t respond to a few classless trolls without anonymity.

#9 soooo spot on. I think a lot of people in the group and SOM feel the same way, it’s surprising that the owners don’t give a shit. And all the people who keep saying ‘oh you can leave the group, oh you can turn off notices’ blah blah blah. Stfu owners should pay attention to wtf they’re doing and stop pissing off people who would be potential customers.
#9- Fact of the matter being, you join(pay$250L) a store group because you like the product, not because you’re interested in buying their old stuff, full perms, for $800USD. Which you are then notified of multiple times a week. And their giftcard sales. And their something else sales. And oh! I didn’t log on today and I capped because of 10 notices concerning the SAME sale/current excitement/something goodness. Yes, you can turn off notices, but if I were to do that, with group chat disabled, what would be the point of staying in the group? Linden knows, I forget to check my notices on the groups I have them disabled for.
And *really*, isn’t the point of having a group to benefit your store? If you’re driving away customers (and it’s quite apparent they are)- why continue the spammage?
I can totally sympathise with #7, my friend did that to me too but karma’s a bitch cause her new friends are total backstabbers

#9 – A-freakin’-Men! I’m loving you right now. I have no problems getting notices about new skins available and sales but the full perm stuff? Yeah, can do without that. They should create a separate group for that sort of stuff, the average SL user isn’t going to be interested in spending $800 USD for full perm skins and we certainly don’t want to hear about them two to three times daily since most of us are at our max 25 group capacity and would like to not cap in the first hour of logging off. They should take a lesson from Ivey of Snatch – she manages her group perfectly. To be fair, the group in question has decided to change their policies so perhaps any of you who left might try contacting one of the owners about being invited back to the group. People need to make mistakes to learn. =)
1. None of the above, just know them a bit more first, and expend energy according to how long you know them or how well. Then all your pearls won’t go before swine. Nicer people usually hesitate to take an inappropriate amount of money, time or energy from someone they just met. If it’s your long time friends doing this to you, then maybe seek counseling to find out why you are choosing such jerks.
