I wouldn't have given a refund either.
I would fix things, at times I will be approached by customers and if they explain their problems I solve them to the best of my ability.
But for no transfer I wouldn't give a refund unless it was a double purchase, and then I'd have to see the transaction history.

Many designers are approached by people who lie for free things.
If you get that all the time you may just have lost your patience with people.

Danny, I don't know why you would be reading this trash, but am in support of you. These people are at least what you said, hostile and aggessive and childlike in their behaviours. From the very first word.

its a cheat on the costumer to make a wrong 'demo' or preview or to show a retouched image of the product! it MUST be refunded.

Hello all! Hate to re-liven this topic, but I couldn't help but continue reading. I saw the picture in the original post and was about to TP in and check it out, but found this instead.

Whether or not it had problems, there's no excuse for the poor customer service. If he had taken the time to talk to her about the problem, come see what she was referring to and be professional about it, there wouldn't have been this blog post.

Furthermore, I beg house creators, please show your houses/skyboxes empty! Please! I love to see how creative you all can be when you are placing furniture in a house, but it is so much nicer when I can see the quality of your work, or in this case the lack there of.

On that same note, going back a bit, I can see where he was coming from regarding being "attacked." Yes, Kenzie could have been less hasty with her questions/comments, but at the same time it does not excuse him from being polite. She was upset at paying so much for a home that turns out to be nothing like the product she was under the impression of buying.

If your product has a demo, make sure it's what's in the box. If there is a problem, fix it. Any and every creator I've ever met has had a flaw in their work at some point - it's inevitable. That's why we have updates and fixes that are released. I am pretty sure that Kenzie would have been pleased to know that he was working on an update for the product and that it would be released soon. Again, poor customer service skills. But to ban someone? Honestly, now.

I agree completely with the comment above (excuse me for not searching for a name or direct quote) that LL should be involved in being able to transfer something back to the creator. It would solve a lot of problems, this being a prime example. Also, the need for a guide/handbook would be lovely! I'm a webdesigner and I believe I can work on a website, though I feel it would be so much better to incorporate it inside of SL. Perhaps a "rate my product/service" that is placed inside of SL that communicates outside. It would be able to provide instant feedback/ratings, such as XStreetSL does. I will post a comment when I have worked on this some.

I'm stopping now, but I do hope that none of what I have said is seen as a stab at anyone - just trying to show how things went wrong and ways to improve them in the future.

Jori is just fine. And I didn't say anything about the SLU admin's RL info, and yet, I was banned.

Christine, this topic has long been dormant and pushed off the front page and yet you keep commenting. Do you have some other agenda you would like to share with the class?

newsflash JoriWatler it IS drama, it IS gossip, don't see how you can deny that

my understanding for the ban was because of comments regarding RL info about SLU admin. Good cause to cope a ban IMO!

Because there weren't any 3D web based games 15 years ago. Maybe he meant he worked on computer graphics for game programs to play on a PC but he hasn't been doing these types of web based builds for 15 years.

Colleen? Wrong.

And avoiding a reply isn't particularly helpful (even if you got the lulz).

I asked a question. I'm not on either 'side' in this. Neither Danny nor Kenzi exactly come out as reasonable, and I don't know either of them.

But if this is how you answer your customers who ask you questions, I'm not going to do that 'creators like to buy other creators' stuff' with yours any time soon (no great loss, I agree).

I prefer a couple of sloppy seams that I can fix to being condescended to. Again, I think the C word was a major mistake, although you don't need to swear to get people's backs up.

I ask myself if the names were changed and no one knew the parties invovled would the reaction be different?

Truthfully ask yourself this.

I'm not saying this to knock the builder because everyone is on different levels of building. I wouldn't pay 7500L for this if it was 100% perfect. This build just seemed really basic.

@Christine

Why for the sake of llama would Tenshi NOT post something?

People seem to see things that are not there. I.E. your snarky comment. THAT is the drama I see.

So let's muzzle your comments? No, Tenshi might not kiss anyone's ass, but she posts everything til people get ignorant *you're not quite there yet*

Perhaps you find out what you're rattling off about, before running your mouth, eh?

So let’s muzzle your comments? No, Tenshi might not kiss anyone’s ass, but she posts everything til people get ignorant *you’re not quite there yet*

Perhaps you find out what you’re rattling off about, before running your mouth, eh?

What a douche this guy is? 15 years? Yeah right bull-shit. We all know he probably threw that shack up in like 5 minutes. He should have more common sense to just give Kenzie the refund- and i agree F- in customer service. This man had no right in calling colleen a cunt either. She is the nicest person , and offered advice, he should just stop wasting his time, and have more common sense than that.

And if that happened in real life, i would of totally asked for a refund, seriously when will some people get some common sense? Kenzie you deserve a refund that was unfair hands down.

and Ps. who-ever this guy is; learn from this and know that you will not get any repeat Business from this.. If you keep treating customers like this.... and for that matter, take your crappy shit and shove it up your ass.

Actually Christine, sometimes we like to wear/use things other than things we make ourselves. We get tired of looking at the same prim alignment over and over and textures over and over. It gets old.

And yes, I did get a ban from SLU along with Dancien and Viv. Unfortunately the ban was due to something I plurked on my private timeline regarding the forum admin's lack of actions. Apparently, my opinion earns me a ban. Let this be a lesson.

Why would a person who makes beautiful builds inworld and has an ongoing business in SL, buy someone elses prefab loft, when she herself makes prefabs. I don't get it, she is the person who owns the Loft isn't she?

FYI: To all of the conspiracy theorists here.

Please note, Colleen and Kenzie didn't even buy the exact same skybox. Kenzie wanted her $7500L back whereas Colleen's purchase was $9500L. Do really think if Kenzie had talked to Colleen about her experience that Colleen would knowingly waste $7500L, let alone $9500L? The amount of money a person has is irrelevant, it's just common sense.

It would be easier to believe you if Colleen had come to me saying, "Buy this messed up skybox and try to get some customer service then forward the results to Tenshi lol." But, no. She simply said do NOT buy a skybox from this person and then shared her experience with me after which *I* suggested she contact Tenshi, not her. Furthermore, this post was written and ready to be published without Colleen's account, hence the addendum. Which brings me back to what I said before, coincidence and good timing.

Really, the only constant between the two stories is a shoddy product and poor customer service. 'A' for effort in trying to deflect the issue.

P.S. Danny, I get it if customer service isn't your thing or you feel that you are not online to serve people. But, if you want our money with a no exceptions no refund policy my suggestion would be to use some of your income to hire a customer service rep or two who *are* online to serve people. I'd fix the build first though or you're likely to have a pretty high turnover rate.

oh for all that is holy and a llama -

Danny clearly knows the issues. I, myself, ME, bought said prefab 2 months ago. It had HUGE errors - NOT the demo, the actual BOXED version. Pointed out prim counts, misalignments, as well as the model did NOT match the rezzed item, and was met with the same crap that Kenzie and Colleen was.

So not sure what "dumbass" tree some of you have been sitting under, and for the sake of the almighty llama find some common sense.

In responce to the rubbish that is now being made up in the comments (because Kenzie never actually said furniture was covering stuff)

Refering to the pictures... the top of the window is a seam yes... but what piece of furnitre was covering this in the demo? lol floating chair?
The bottom of the window is a windowsil haha. The seam that is the railing is a seam yes, not a huge one worth a 7500L$ refund. Its also hardly visible. But if youre picking for an argument, yes you could use that.
The seam on the brickwork is on the slope of the stairs. Again what bit of furniture was covering there,in the middle of the stairs lol? There are 3 seams in total Kenzie pointed out to Danny and i think 3 seams are not " Beyond repair " as Kenzie said. As for the textures being misaligned, not many are off, again not beyond repair or worth a 7500L$ refund.

Danny brings out new versions and sends them out to previous buyers. As Kenzie said she didnt want the build there is no real point in him sending an update, ESPECIALLY after all this drama she has caused.

@ Kenzie: In no way am in inclined to believe you meant, "reply to comments" when you said " stir up this little post". Not buying that either.

@ Cajsa Lilliehook: I agree, this isnt journalism. It's a friend trying to back up another friend when she got buyers remorse.
This has been completly gone about in the wrong way and i see why Danny ended the conversation on terms of it being near harrasment.

@ Meh..: Yes this is in no way productive to the inworld community. this blog reminds me of "that group of girls" we all had while at school.

@ Colleen's last post: This is off topic, unproductive and irrelivent. Starting to lose your moral highground also it seems.

@ Ari: I agree, the fact Colleen 'happened' to buy the loft at that time too and 'happened' to talk to her friend about it... especially as its reasonable to believe Colleen has money to burn on a prefab only to look it over. However this is not a known fact, only a suspicion. Also, if the build was so bad, surely Colleen would have noticed this before buying and decided against it. Again, the reason behind Colleen purchasing the build is not for known to anyone and therefore not a debating point.

I think this post should be removed from the blog on the basis the " investigation " was not conducted proffesionally or in any way the approach of a true journalist. Also for the reason that it is completly one sided. Having 2 people "debate" over half a story is not a debate. How could it ever be with only one side of the story? Not only one side... the side of a close friend.

In my opinion this is a really poor example of blogging.
I will no longer be reading SCD or replying after this, my final comment.

@ Chiyo

They don't consider these things, because drama-bloggers seldom know about building, putting builds in vendors and rez boxes... or anything about the process of creating content and actually contributing to life "inworld" at all. Drama-blogging merely serves, for some, to throw a thin veil over this fact; To create the illusion, for they who must resort to it, of personal relevance.

Colleen: "I did not JUMP in. I spent my money there 9500l to be exact. Not even knowing that Kenzi had contacted Danny or had an issue with him"

So you just happened to buy this house, right after Kenzi did? Did you see her blog? Do you know Kenzi?

All this is not clear to me.

See, what it looks like is that Kenzi is fortunate to know a well-known, influential builder who has enough money to buy something just to rezz it and pick it to pieces and then just (by chance?) joins in a fun witch hunt.

If it WAS a coincidence that a well-known builder just happened to buy a 'controversial' build (something I'm prepared to believe at a pinch) at that particular moment, then I can *still* understand Danny felt he was being backed into a corner, particularly as Kenzi was threatening exposure (and succeeded remarkably).

No, nothing excuses the C word. But when the guy apologises even that wasn't good enough. It's fine for the SCD crew to throw insults around, but not Danny. Right.

I see Kenzi has 'repaired' it herself. And sure, Danny didn't go do it - why? Because Kenzi's initial contact with him was so, so clearly 'I don't like the style, give me my money back'. It was only when she couldn't have an immediate refund (without waiting for an update) that she started on the quality and the threats.

Would Kenzi have deleted it if she got her money back? Well, I believe she would. But how was Danny supposed to believe that of a customer who threatens to 'expose' him?

I don't think Kenzi deserves her money back, although if I'd been Danny I'd have given it to her, and even if *her* approach could sound suspiciously like blackmail, as in 'give me my money or else'.

After looking at the place closely i also wanted to add that I did not see any seams. The one seam in the above picture was a window sill. And i definately do not see them on the walls. Im pretty happy with it! <3 I love all your work. The LOft, *Phi*, Rebourne...you all are very talented!

And after writing my other comments and talking to his fiance, I have to say that they've been completely nice to me and helped me with my skybox. I'm not excusing his behavior and I'm really sorry he's been negative to some of you, but he's been nothing but kind to me.

I disagree. I think the best "resolution" is that of a learning experience for both parties.

Kenzie has learned that she will need to look more closely at demos and think very long and hard as to whether or not a prefab is really worth the money.

Danny will have to learn that calling someone a "cunt" is a good way to get put under the microscope FAST; oh, and responding with, "I'm sorry, the item is no transfer and therefore nonrefundable, however, may I come look at and possibly fix the problem for you?" will be MUCH better for business.

One more thing - this line:
Danny Bourne: I am not online to serve you, so please have a little patience

...was the first snap, in my book. Sure, Kenzie could've approached him differently, but he was the one that got snarky first. Just my personal opinion.

Best resolution? Danny refunds Kenzie (hey, it's less than $30, right?), Kenzie acknowledges that she might have made a better approach to Danny and takes more care when shopping in future. Colleen accepts Danny's apology. Danny gracefully accepts Colleen's advice about texture alignment etc. SCD staff remain silent on the matter, and everyone learns whatever lesson they care to take from the affair. Group hugs follow.

Chances of the above happening? I'll give you 4:1 odds :)
