I <3 Originals Fair

In the continued effort to combat content theft and to celebrate those designers who are producing original content to make our Second Life all that it can be, the group Artist’s Voice is pleased to announce the I <3 Originals Fair,  February 8 – 14, 2010. The fair is non-profit and exists to promote the fantastic content in Second Life that exists without content theft or copyright infringement. SLURL to the fair

February 11th:  6pm SLT – Reading by New York Times Bestselling author Michael A. Stackpole (see below for details)

February 13th: 2pm SLT – Designers and Content Theft (see below for details)

Note:  The above will be voice events.  For the comfort and convenience of our panelists, all attendees are asked to have voice enabled, and their microphones muted.  Those audience members feeding a live microphone will be ejected.  Repeat offenders will be banned from the fair grounds.

Literature and Copyright – 6pm SLT, February 10th

Panelists:

Michael A. Stackpole (aka Noble Charron)

Mr. Stackpole is a New York Times Bestselling author eight times over, a leader in the VIPub revolution, and a blogger.  With over forty novels published, he has won awards for novel writing, editing, screenwriting, comics writing, game design, computer game design and podcasting. In addition to his own podcasts, Fortress Draconis, and the award-winning Secrets Podcast for Writers, Stackpole co-hosts the wildly popular DragonPage Cover to Cover Podcast.  In Second Life, his avatar founded and owns Third Life Books, and is the co-owner of Wind River Territory.

Robert E. Vardeman (aka Goran Draconis)

Mr. Vardeman is one of the most prolific and versatile living authors with over 300 novels published.  Readers may also know him as Karl Lassiter, an author of western novels.  Vardeman is well-known for Swords of Raemlynn series, co-authored with the late Geo. W. Proctor.  In addition, he has written much original science fiction and fantasy, as well as the Karl Lassiter westerns.  In Second Life, Vardeman is a contributor at Michael A. Stackpole’s office hours, and has been known to grace Second Life residents with readings of his short stories.  It was in Second Life that Mr. Vardeman coined the phrase “VIPub.”

Andrea Howe (aka Penny Kingmaker)

Ms. Howe is a freelance editor and the owner of Blue Falcon Editing.  With a degree from the University of California – Irvine,  she has served as a copy editor for The New University, and has worked as a copy editor and Bowne & Co.

Kghia Gherardi

Co-founder of the Bookstacks group in Second Life, and co-host of the Off the Shelf Podcast in Second Life, Kghia Gherardi is one of the leaders in the Second Life virtual community.  She’s organized many events for writers and readers in the virtual world, and has her finger on the pulse of the literature trends in Second Life.
