“Icing†Donates Fashion Creations
for Charity Auction
Benefiting Project Children
West of Ireland, Second Life – The Second Life charity estate West of Ireland (WOI) is pleased to announce the generous donation of thirteen creations by SL fashion designer Miko Omegamu, creator of the “Icing†fashion line. Twelve designer gowns, including one wedding gown, plus one set of pearl jewelry will go up for auction May 1 on the patio of the West of Ireland Gallery with bidding concluding on Sunday, May 3 with a celebration party.
Â
Ms. Omegamu creates classic gowns based in part on the clean lines of the 1940s and early 1950. Her work is simple and elegant with emphasis on flowing forms, rich color, and fluid motion. In addition to excellent designs, a perusal of the Icing online blog reveals a spirit of helpfulness through a series of tutorials that explain how clothing can be altered and fitted to avatars without sending the item back to the designer. It is a short step from helpfulness to philanthropy as Icing creations has a history of supporting charitable causes, having recently participated in the “Heart of Love†fundraising effort, as well as Relay for Life. “Her gowns are so lovely, and this is such a generous donation by Miko and Icing that will support Project Children in a very special way,†said West of Ireland CEO Sioban McMahon. “I am pleased to be able to support events and causes that connect people, both in second life and first life,†replied designer Omegamu.
Â
The fashion creations being offered in this charity auction will be on display at the West of Ireland Gallery Patio in a preview beginning April 27. Bidding will commence Friday, May 1 at 4:00pm slt and will continue through the weekend. A special celebration will begin on Sunday, May 3 at 4:00pm slt featuring West of Ireland CEO Sioban McMahon as DJ. The event will culminate in the closing of bidding and the announcement of the winning bids at 6pm slt. All auction proceeds will benefit Project Children.
Â
Project Children is an international organization that takes children from Northern Ireland on summer trips to stay with host families in the United States. Catholic and Protestant children are brought together in a calm and multi-cultural environment in an effort to overcome the stronghold of prejudices that have burdened Northern Ireland for so long. The South Texas Celtic Music Association (STCMA) raises funds for Project Children at its annual Celtic Music Festival and through the Second Life West of Ireland charity estate to pay the transportation costs for children participating in Project Children.Â
