Forget about exhibitions, being featured in some columns or getting glittery awards on flickr for your pics. Enjoy what you do, do it for the sake of taking pics, working on them, putting thoughts and efforts into them. And if you really want the recognition of other people, contact me in world and I’ll invite you to some flickr groups whose members don’t judge your artistic skills or care for stupid awards but actually enjoy sharing techniques, working together on monthly themes and thinking outside of the box aka winning popularity contests.

I disagree with your characterization of my column. In 58 columns I have featured 385 different people – most of them people I don’t know. I make a conscious effort to go outside my personal clique of friends and to wander other people’s faves and contacts in order to avoid the trap of only seeing the “same ole over and over.”

i have so many cool second life pictures i’ve taken over the years on my hard drive and i keep thinking about starting a fashion blog but i know that no one is going to see it anyway and for some reason making a blog or starting a flikr and trying to get it noticed would just stress me out. i just look through them once and a while and give myself a golf clap.

I don’t see everything and could be missing your pictures. I browse several feeds, but one week I might browse two feeds and the next week a different two. I hop through Flickr checking people’s favorites and browse through my contacts. You should definitely add me on Flickr.

10. It’s called jealousy and it looks awful on you. Seriously.

13. Just like RL the internet has bad apples too. They’re just in greater abundance on the internet because it’s easier and usually anonymous. People who are miserable and don’t have the balls in RL become bullies on the internet, it makes them feel better about themselves. Then there are the group that tolerates and eats it up, They blame the platform and not the people who cause the crap.

I’ve been on Plurk for 2.5 years and the second anyone stands out as one of these idjits, they’re gone. I don’t put up with jacka$$es in any life. MY TL is pleasant and full of supportive, drama free people. Those that go on and on about the bad aspects of anything are usually a big part of the problem with their negativity and drama.

Yes, and there’s also the fact that whether or not they copied the idea, the person put in all the work to creating the item. As an SL designer, I can tell you that the amount of time spent working on items is insane for what we sell them for… it’s something you do out of love. Some of us are fortunate enough to make some actual money, others just do it to support SL needs… and some have to put out RL money to keep going, but they do it anyway. Stealing their hard work is dead wrong.

Using a RL design for inspiration is just sensible. It doesn’t make someone a thief, unless, as Fallacy said, they use someone’s trademarked logo or copyright protected images.
