#2 Amen to that, every single time I scroll the feed and have to see these huge pictures I get so upset, I mean at least hide them under the cut, or make them smaller and easier to load the rest of the feed.

#5 Don’t worry, you’re not missing out on much, ever since Seven moved to the new sim no one even bothers to go. New management must suck the big one.

#8 I keep wondering the same thing, how can someone who models, designs or works in the fashion industry in RL have the time to spend so many hours on SL? It’s simply impossible, anyone who works in the fashion industry can attest to it being crazy, hectic and time consuming. People just need to stop lying to make themselves look important.

#6: If you are being serious, please, please please take a step back and call someone. Anorexia is (as quoted from my college Psychology teacher) one of, if not the, deadliest mental disorder. There are many people in the world that want to help so you don’t have to be alone. Here are some connections:

    http://www.anorexiahelp.net/
    Mirasol.net

Your local doctor’s office, drop-in clinic, or hospital will also be happy to talk to you in person or over the phone.

Nunya, things like eatting disorders, self-imposed isolation, and devotion to a hurtful person may seem “stupid”. Rightly, they don’t make sense to society and go against the norm in a harmful way. However, it’s not so simple as people consciously decided that they were going to have these challenges. Excluding the fakers and drama-lamas (which, depending to what degree they seek attention, have problems of their own), there’s usually an underlying factor that makes someone susceptible to these things, ranging from biological and evolutionary to social. I’d go into more depth, but I’m taking whole classes on these subjects.

Essentially, it is understandable and easy to think of these things as “stupid”. However, that’s a very dangerous attitude to take.

funny-this includes “secrets” on cyber-bullies, yet #2 is just plain rude. keep scrolling and get a grip.

nunya-for calling someone with a disease (which is what an eating disorder is) “stupid” is just plain horrible. you should be ashamed of yourself.

and to 5-i feel the same. i came back to SL to try to improve my social skills, but still get paralyzed by fear. IM me (Tiffer GossipGirl) and we’ll go to Seven together

    Nov 23rd, 2008

#5, I’ll go with you to Seven as well. I was apprehensive but Iris put a glock to my head (no, not really) and tp’ed me. I’ll meet up with Tiffer and you and we’ll go. k?

#6: I hope you find help. Seriously. Good luck and IM me if you need a shoulder to lean on.

#5 I feel the exact same way. There is nothing more frustrating than feeling that way. My biggest worry is people laughing at the way I look.

#5 Being “elite” or “popular” in a pixelated game is something I always thought was a moronic concept and I detest people who either play at it or accuse others of wanting to be like that. Just remember the ones who want it the most are likely making up for lost time in high school and arm yourself with the confidence and knowledge that you don’t need their approval to be great. Good luck.

I had an eating disorder – and its not stupid its an illness.
Please get help – I agree its easy to get sucked intot he sl look – i struggle to at times, even made my AV to look like how i wanted to be .
this is a game – a place to escape the rl stress and have fun,so if its not fun – turn the thing of .If its making problems worse – SIGN OUT and get help – please

anyone thinking this is a stupid illness or stupid shaping an AV like that well they are stupid for not being more understanding

#5– I go to Seven every now and then. From a build standpoint, it really is a swanky place to hang out. I don’t know too many folks there, but I go anyway (LOL). Feel free to IM me if you want to go sometime.

#6– I am all about RL acceptance and portrayl in Second Life. Please do not starve yourself for some fantasy ideal composed in a video game. Life is so much more and you are a living breathing being.. not a pixelated person that doesnt need food to survive. I am so sad to see this and I truly hope this person logs out of SL and plugs into RL.

#8– This was hilarious and true!! Touche!!!

#10– OMG, if I see one more Christmas hunt I am gonna lodge some sort of complaint (just j/k). For real folks, its nice to offer hunts and dollarbies, gifts, etc., but cmon. Can we at least get through Thanksgiving and get into the month of December?

Cuts do not work correctly on feeds. Ana Lutetia mentioned something that may help but it’s only for wordpress installations that you control. I’m going to test it real soon on my blog and it works for Ana- her posts are cut on the feed I manage.

I wish they did though, or that people wouldn’t make their images so big they make my browser create a horizontal scrollbar.

Re #2: You see I love those photos she creates. I think they’re beautiful. So again, people see things differently don’t they? I sometimes take photo’s in a kimono which I’m probably wearing incorrectly and not authentic to the Japanese look but does that mean I can’t enjoy playing around with the fashion in SL? How easy it is to critique people doing their thing which in all reality, is not hurting anyone. Keep up the photo’s hun…there’s always scroll. I think you capture SL beautifully.

  15. Stella

    2. Maybe there is a tribe where they hunt on the beach in high heels on*blink* *blink*.

    3. Cyber bullying? We’re all adults on SL so I doubt we fall into any soon to be created cyber bullying laws. If you mean hacking or stalking that’s something different.

    4. I didn’t know Hitler had a SL group. I get the point but the extremity of Hitler shouldn’t be used for every little thing.

    5. Just go. It’ll probably be the same social setting as any other club. Maybe one or two people will be nice and say hello. Everyone else will stick to their group and since you’re shy you probably won’t say anything and be pissed cause they speak to you.

    6. If you can be so influenced by your avi maybe SL isn’t for you. Many of us learned how to distinguish reality from imagination a long time ago. If you truly have a problem then get off SL and talk to someone who can help you.

    12. Some of the new “veteran” stuff still looks like they made it in 2004. Just because they’re a veteran I’m not going to wear what looks like BIAB stuff. For those veterans that continue to creat fashions that change with the times I commend you. To the ones that continue to sell to those who want their fashions and don’t complain I commend you. To the ones who still make the same stuff and complain about new designers grow up.

    13. lol you should have made her face green like Incredible Haulk.

#3 I don’t know who your cyber bullies are but there are groups out there that attack people in game and out. I hope you can find peace in your situation and don’t have to recreate after being in game for 4 years because of this type of behavior. Good luck!

#5, I popped into 7 a while back (yeah, I was nervous, so had a couple of glasses of wine first!) – and spotted a few folk from the fashfeeds there. People were friendly enough once I started chatting, and I’d probably go back some time. Can’t say there was anything particularly ’special’ about it though. Bit of an anti-climax really, especially cos I saw a male avi who I’d always thought looked gorgeous on the feeds, but who was somewhat freakish up close. Oh well :) Also saw a well known fashionista who must have been having an off day.

    #10 – Happy Easter :)

    1. Why blog if it’s not to let us have an insight to what you are and think?

    2. I think if you can’t figure out how cuts work on the feed, don’t post till you do. Master all facets of your craft.

    4. People like that make me wish I knew alot of languages ..just so I can talk about them in numerous ways.

    5. awww, you know, I’m not with any “in” crowd either, but I’ve been there a couple of times and have had a really good time, it’s a nice and funny crowd. I don’t contribute much to the conversation, but I don’t usually in RL either, cause I’m rather shy. Sl is where we can steps out of our norm…go, try it!

    6. Have you seen the feed lately? know that you are not alone, and do reach out to someone for some guidance.

    8. hahahah I have thought that of so many!!! agreed!

    12. That’s like saying we all have to drive fords because he was our first.
People will buy from you if you continue to grow with them. If you see that people are buying up the stuff thats on the feed, then perhaps it’s time for you to incorporate some of those ideas into your design.
If you only design for you and not the buyers, don’t be surprised if you are the only one that wears it. Sure, keep you in your design, but keep an ear to what the buyers want.
Ginny was a Master at changing and growing, that’s why the success.

I didn’t mean that having an eating disorder is stupid, I was referring to the secret developing an eating disorder trying to look like your avatar. THAT is stupidity. I agree with Stella. If this is happening to you then SL isnt the place for you.

  20. 'Kota

    Nov 23rd, 2008

“for calling someone with a disease (which is what an eating disorder is)”

Actually it’s a mental disorder, not a disease. Just a heads up.

Sasy did a great post on tips to thwart the glitch that undermines cuts. http://scarboroughflairbysasyscarborough.wordpress.com/2008/11/19/insolence-barbaradutch-touch-indie-19th-nov-2008/

I think #3 is right, there are ways to prosecute (a quick search turned up a number of results and various laws, UK I think, and yeah we ARE adults it’s too bad people don’t act like it…guess its cause its like omg a game…so why act responsibility, oh yeah that’s right they might be like that all the time too. I forgot Springer has a following. And just cause its not a crime yet in some places doesn’t make it right either.

I liked Seven, I went with a group of friends, knew people there, didn’t know people there, acquainted on a name only basis with others. But I did what I do at clubs, hang with my friends, dance and have a good time. Maybe meet new people. Worth a shot rather then not.

    Nov 23rd, 2008

Ok, let me do some comments too again *lol*

#1 wow..beautiful picture, tastefully done, this is IMO what SL secret should be about

#2 I get more and more frustrated to see people getting bullied and slammed, this is no secret, everyone can clearly see who this is about. This is public slandering in my opinion. That being done in an anonymous way i find it coward. Oh and btw, i happen to like the pics on that blog

#4 omg….was that nessecary to use hitler and that sign for that? :/

#5 Drop me an IM any time, lets check out Seven together? Never been there either :)

    #8 LOL!!! true HAHAHA

#12 Hmmm i’ve said this earlier in another discussion about this, but again i think every blogger should blog what he/she feels like for whatever reason he/she wants too. With all the respect for the veterans designers, the amount of time someone spent in SL doesn’t tell me much about the quality of their designs. There’s awesomely talented new designers popping up, and veterans dont’nessicarily make awesome items right? ;)

  24. Cinthia Eckersley

#5 I’ll join you and SySy!. Hey, why not make a big group here and check it out together! =)

#10 LOLZ, Well it’s the same story IRL, everyone (more so businesses) is basically getting in the christmas mood from the beginning of the ‘ber’ months. I feel your pain though since it’s not even december and because I’m Jewish.

#8 – So true!!! I DO work in RL fashion – sort of – and in the last 2 weeks I have had exactly 6 hours on SL! Thats 336 hours, 6 in SL, and maybe 70 asleep – the rest at work, LOL. Well, what do they say, no fun for the wicked.

  29. Genna Gray

    Nov 24th, 2008

#2 Must not have made much of a difference because that person posted another huge pic on the feed today. I think she has good composition, but not sure why it can’t be medium sized with a link to the larger size on Flickr.

#4 I think I’m in one or two groups like that, but I still like the product, so I ignore their bad behavior. And really, it’s their group, so I guess they can do what they want with it.

#5 I’ve never got around to going, but I know the people behind it, and they are actually very nice. I think this is a case of a few bad eggs making the rest of the group look bad. I’m sure it would be fun. I know they have awesome dj’s.

#6 SL is a place you can be anything you want, and people get to know you mostly through the conversations you have. Plus, we’re really essentially a bunch of sophisticated cartoons and how can you possibly live up to something that isn’t real?

#8 All I got to say is you hit the nail on the head. I think that all the time.

#12 I’d say you’re still around for a reason. People still shop in your store because you obviously have talent. But it’s human nature to get excited about new things. So I agree with others who say that maybe it’s good to try new designs and also find out what people want and pair that with what you enjoy doing.

  30. Flutter Memel

    Nov 24th, 2008

    #1 so true, too true

  31. Lysana McMillan

    Nov 24th, 2008

#1 – There’s a definite difference between “self-expression via blog” and “letting it all hang out via blog.” Hold on to your comfort levels and the others can go hang.

#2 – Agreed on the lack of respect for First Nations folks. I may own the Apache hairstyle from Bewitched, but I’m damned if I’m going to pair it with buckskin and stilettos.

#7 – We’re people. They told the same jokes in ancient Greece that we tell now. You can find drama queen comments in ancient Roman graffiti. Yep, SL is SSDD. No secret.

    #8 – /me stifles a giggle.

#12 – It is interesting how it’s the newer designers who get more of the attention, isn’t it? How often is Silent Sparrow the focus of anything other than the freebie blogs? But Hyasynth’s been at it for some time now, and she’s gotten better and better with every outfit.

  32. Elizabeth Hallstrom

    Nov 24th, 2008

#6 Coming from a family of three generations of eating disorders I can assure you help is out there and you can recover. Please feel free to IM me in world if you would like to talk.

  33. nunya

    Nov 24th, 2008

ok i give up who is #2? It looks like Bewitched hair so is that the answer?

  34. SySy

    Nov 24th, 2008

want to add a little something to #2:

Though i don’t like public slandering like this (which it IS imo) it wouldnt’hurt to make the pics a little smaller with a link to click them bigger or something. However i think it takes much more of a man/woman to actually tell the pic poster that to her face instead of anonymously on a blog ;) But i guess thats what the SL secret is for… :/

  35. Somerled McAlpine

    Nov 24th, 2008

@1 So you excrete rainbows in private?

@2 This cyber-bullying? Mere criticism actually.

@4 What skin and hair is that guy wearing? Me wants! Seriously though I would love to know the name of this group so that I could join and smile benevolently at the arse-licking.

@5 Remember the witticism of Oscar Wilde that there is only one thing worse than being talked about…

I’m 99% of the time on my own in sl through shyness so I can understand – being male makes it doubly difficult to make friends.

@8 Dearie me, don’t be so silly! They are only on sl 20 hours a day, which means 4 hours left for quality ligging in the rl fashion world!

  36. Chantal

    Nov 24th, 2008

about #2…I’d rather have those photos (yes, they’re a bit big) than a ‘oooooooo look at my new release’ post showing every single colour of something – like twelve pictures, often with lousy resolution.

As for ‘insulting’ somebody on that outfit, with the amount of ‘costumes’ available in SL, are we going to hear from ’serious’ nurses, nuns, military, other ethnic groups etc. all twitching because an SL outfit is not a ‘faithful reflection?’ I somehow doubt it, but who knows.

I wear Victorian dress at times – maybe I should be glad I’ve not (yet) had people jump on me and say I’ve got it wrong. OK, the period is over so it’s slightly different, but there *are* experts who could argue about it anything from bodices to bustles, but usually – in my corner of the world – they’re not taking themselves too seriously.

To me, that comment was just an extra thrown in to make it all the more vicious.

  37. Miffed

    Nov 24th, 2008

@ the person who wrote #2. The photographer you have slapped here is a sweet girl, and maybe if you spent a bit of time getting to know her you wouldn’t find it so easy to be so nasty.

    Meh.

#12 Who are tho old veteran designers?

  39. Concern

Speaking from experience, when you have a mental disorder, it’s *not* easy to separate fantasy from reality and actually *doing it* once you’re caught in a cycle is not easy.

  42. Sitting Bullshit

    Nov 24th, 2008

I really like #2. Fabulous. Fantastic composition, brilliant color, real feeling. I think your comments about bullying are misplaced and should be turned around 180 degrees.
I’m just flabbergasted at your comments on “native Americans”. Are all Americans as insular as you? I hope not. Not everybody shares your little hobby horses. But then you rule the world and we must all kowtow accordingly.

  43. Dusky Jewell

    Nov 24th, 2008

#2. You must be an internet noob.

#5. Never commented on the Seven “secrets”, but I will now. I am totally amused by the apprehension people have about going to this club. I am a biker. People rarely go out of their way to befriend me because either they think I will bite their head off, or just judge me by how I look, just like people do in RL. That’s life, used to it, no complaints.

Seven gives me an excuse to wear some of the 40,000+ stuff in my inventory. It also helps that I am basically quiet, and when someone does talk to me I freeze up anyway, so if people snub me it spares me awkward moments. heh.

I went to Seven when it first surfaced in the secrets as a snob hangout. This made me want to go there. I was basically expecting to be ignored, and feel unwelcome there, and did I care? NO. The opposite happened, so I returned with my partner several times. The staff at Seven Ultra Lounge are nice people. I didn’t engage in lengthy conversation there, was too busy yapping in voice with my partner, but I wasn’t ignored. I am not wowed by the music selection, but I like the build, the lack of campers, and no voting contests.

If you go, go with someone because the place is not packed all of the time.

  44. Meng Deigan

    Nov 24th, 2008

In regards to #2, I think that they are playing the Native American card to avoid coming right out and saying the real issue. Those pictures are terrible. Seriously terrible. They make anyone with even a smidgen of Photoshop experience absolutely CRINGE. I’m sure she’s very sweet, but that isn’t relevant here. If you put something out on the web, you had better be ready to get critiqued on it. Secret #2 isn’t constructive criticism, so let me try.

While the composition may be good, I am telling that person that A) she needs to make her pictures smaller (for the love of all that is holy) and B) PLEASE learn about photo manipulation. There is so much good information on the internet. Google is your friend. A simple search for photoshop techniques brings up a plethora of good links. Don’t use PS? Google “gimp techniques”. Learning is a good thing. Improve your skills so people don’t laugh behind your back. At least I am telling you to your face with my name out there.

  45. Tenshi Vielle

    Nov 24th, 2008

So, what the eff happened this week that they’re all of a sudden so… artistic?

  46. SySy

    Nov 24th, 2008

^^ Meng, THAT is what i find guts. I applaud you for that. Though i dont’agree with you LMAO..i find her pictures different then the usual, they are unique and thats why i probably like them so much…BECAUSE they are not like what we always see, you know what i mean? But ofcousre everyone can find what they want from them.

  47. Dusky Jewell

    Nov 24th, 2008

Correction, my comment to #2 was meant for #3…and the cyberbullies BS. I have no comment for #2, could care less about who makes good or shitty photos for another *yawn* SL fashion blog.

  48. Chalice Carling

    Nov 24th, 2008

Can someone tell me what the Fashion Feed is for? I thought it was an avenue for people who enjoy blogging about fashion and SL in general to share their stories, ideas, pictures in a common place. Bloody hell…I was contemplating joining the feed but not on your life. I’ll keep my 9 readers and share my thoughts in relative privacy.

I really like her pictures as I’ve said already. If it’s the size that is an issue then surely someone could just send her a message explaining it takes ages to upload as they are and suggest they be reduced a bit.

I’m not laughing behind her back as I genuinely like the pics she takes so don’t generalise Meng. Yet another ‘outing’ in this weeks feed. Last week my name was mentioned in Laural and Hardy’s ‘GofugyourSL” blog as was my friend who was viciously attacked. People can just say anything with no consequence and it doesn’t have to have a shread of truth to it.

I swear some people are put on this earth just to be a pain in the arse.

  49. Ashlen Harchester

    Nov 24th, 2008

    5) You’re far from alone. If you’d like to hang out sometime, message me. I keep to myself most of the time but would love to make new friends :)

  50. Meng Deigan

    Nov 24th, 2008

I am not generalizing Chalice. To say ~everyone~ is laughing behind her back would be a generalization. What I said is a fact because I have heard many comments from many people on those particular pictures.

Thanks Sysy. We are all of course entitled to our opinion. While I would agree with you that there is an abundance of “sameness” on the feed, I would respectfully submit that there is a difference between being different or experimenting and using a tool ineptly. But I am happy to agree to disagree. :)

  51. blahblahblahwhatever

    Nov 24th, 2008

    @ Harris

When I think of “veteran designers” I think of Chip Midnight. Not sure who #12 is talking about but when I think of Chip Midnight what comes to mind is someone who offers resources for the betterment of SL content, I dont really see him as someone being blogged about. Then again hes much better than some of the things that i have seen blogged. But in their defense, SCD is the only blog I can say I read.

Maybe #12 should start their own blog and bring people the justice s/he thinks they deserve. T-Hee.

  52. tivo

    Nov 24th, 2008

    1. Blog all you want and keep your bizness to yourself.

    2. I couldn’t agree with you more.

    3. Get over it already.

    4. Comparing Hitler to some tard with a group negates the horrific events he perpetrated. Show some respect to the people whom Hitler REALLY affected.

    5. Seven isn’t the problem. It’s the people that go there and try to be supersmooth.

    6. I have an eating disorder too. It makes me eat salt and vinegar chips until my mouth bleeds and huff down munchkins by the coffinfull. 9 days sounds hot.

    7. Blah.

    8. Of course I’m a model and my avatar looks JUST like me in RL. Oh and I’m a billionaire.

    9. Get dat money!

    10. I’ve felt this way about xmas in RL my whole life and I think I’m going to avoid the fash feed until after the holidays.

    11. Some of my fave creators have been here for ages and I always buy everything they release. I also buy stuff from the fresh designers too.

  53. moogani

    Nov 24th, 2008

    i don’t know my about seven… but i do like alt7…

indie clubs usually suck in that way too, where they are mostly all snobby and stick to themselves..
thank god for alt7 though.. one of the only places i can hang without feeling like an outcast.

  54. Marianne Little

    Nov 25th, 2008

#2 is an amazing SL photographer. That’s just my opinion. With over 200 000 views on her flickr stream, I don’t think I’m the only one who like her work.

This “secret” is so stupid. The only sickness here, is jealousy.

However, you can’t expect all to like your work. That’s just impossible. For those, the big pictures will be irritating and make them grind their teeth while they scroll over.

So yes… Make a cut and show only 1 pic. And post a smaller size on feed.

  55. Good Grief!!

    Nov 25th, 2008

All the comments about Seven made me realize just how common low self esteem is. It’s a virtual club, you get to hide behind an avatar and dress a doll up. I should also add that you can attend this swanky place while you yourself sit in a stained sweat pants eating ice cream and no one would know or care. If a virtual club with avatars scare you, it makes some wonder if some of you ever come out of your house at all or have ever seen the inside of a real club.

You’re right Tivo, Seven isn’t the problem. The problem is people projecting the way they feel about themselves onto Seven. So what if people go there and think they are cool, what is wrong with feeling good about yourself. Bottom line is if you don’t feel good about yourself, no one is able to feel it for you. Instead of worrying about freaking avatars in a fake club, worry about interacting face to face with people in real life.

All that being said, Seven is nice place to hang out. You can talk if you want, dance if you want or just shut up and listen to the music. Why is everyone making a big fuss about the place, Everyone of you have complained about clubs in sl, and so someone creates one and all you ever do is bitch about who goes there. No one is calling themselves elite there, look at who is describing the people who attend events there, yes the very ones who has never set foot in there.

Its a club made of pixels people.

    Hey,
    Could you add:
img{max-width:600px;} to your css file for the planet feeds?

Most of the time people have wysiwyg editors that ad inline styles to images, but sometimes they don’t. This would just stop the layout from being overblown.

    Just a suggestion. Thanks!

So, using Hitler as a metaphor is unacceptable, yet joking about a killer mental disorder is, Tivo?

If Stalin was used, I doubt it would receive as much attention, even though he did similarly horrible acts. America just happened to work with the SSR during WWII to fight Hitler, so all the primary educational system shows is the dirt on Nazi Germany. At least, that was my experience.

In regards to anorexia, there are people out there that starve themselves to the point where they can be physically compared to Holocaust prisoners. I think I may have seem some webpages idolizing those images.

So again, it’s not ok to use a deranged, vegetarian painter-dictator in any non-tragedy, but it’s ok to make fun of someone who’s paraplegic and whacking at themselves with a hatchet to try and make themselves a quadriplegic?

It’s unfortunate that classes like psychology are not regularly part of primary school curricula or are taught inadequately. House and ER certainly don’t appear to be showing the correct picture.

Bottomline is , there are many lonely ass people in SL. Even in those so called ” slebrity clubs”, a bunch of fashion slaves, standing there, with the ubercool ao, latest threads and then what? You have some boy/girl toy on your arm, and some fashion trendy friends, but we all know, in reality, you may sit in front of your pc in your pj’s, not to glamourous and play a make a belief.
Nothing wrong with that, per say, but seriously, some of you need to stop faking the funk. Whom are you trying to impress? Yourself?
Because time has flown by and you are a middle aged Wafflehouse waitress and you trying to regain your youth in a virtual world? But you go to bed alone and face reality, once you look at yourself in the morning into the mirror, facing reality bites.

Again nothing wrong with being a waffle house waitress, its a job, but pretending to be some high maintance ass in sl, while you the total opposite in rl, and have the attitude of a gutter bitch… think about it. Revamp yourself and keep yourself real in a virtual reality.
Makes sense?! Maybe not to much, but I just find a horde mass behaviour to be with the IN crowd pathetic.

    Think about it,
    Noor~

Noor, it is pathetic to you. For some people sl is all about fantasy recreating stuff they don’t have irl. Who are you to judge their fantasy by calling it pathetic? Look around you, I am sure you know avatars who wear tails and ears, if you saw someone with cat ears and a tail irl (assuming its not part of a costume) you would run screaming in the opposite direction, it is THEIR fantasy not yours. You point and judge irl so you chose to point and judge in sl, that is your choice, if someone wants to live in a mansion in sl and have 14563 cars that is their choice also. You are in no position to judge any one’s fantasy or what they chose to pretend to be.

Why do we buy clothes and hair in sl, why do so many people wish they had their sl wardrobes? Why bother to recreate real life builds in sl. It is no different than going to a swanky hang out? I am pretty sure absolutely no one gets dressed up to play sl.

Everyone has a right to make sl their own. You don’t like to hang out with “ubercool” people so be it. No one is pointing at you saying “aww that must be the kid who was laughed at in high school” Just leave people to have and make their own fantasies in sl. Even if they go to bed alone at least they had some joy for a couple hours a day in sl.

Why is there all this craziness surrounding, Seven?

Since its launch, there’s been a lot of bad talk about the place, on a lot of different levels. The crowd that goes, the “type of people” that hang out there, the fact that you have to pay to get in, etc etc… I kind of feel like, if you’ve never gone to Seven, and you don’t know a lot of content creators/models/well known folk in SL, that basing the experience you MIGHT have on the alleged snobbery of “SL’s Elite,” is kind of judgmental and really unwarranted.

Sure, there’s a chunk of folks that let their heads get too big, consider themselves rather high and mighty, have holier-than-thou attitudes, and would sooner tell you to piss off than give you the time of day… but those people are pretty few and far between amongst the creators and “well knowns” that I’ve met in my time on the Grid. Many content creators I know are pretty hermit-y and rather enjoy keeping to themselves. And when they do find the time to come out of their shells, they are always a pleasure to be around… because they are actually some of the wittiest and most fun people I’ve met.

The same goes for models or well known DJs or anyone in the SL fashion industry that I’ve ever encountered… While I have, of course, met the odd, “Do you know who I AM?” people, I’ve also found that most of them are actually quite friendly, talkative, and willing to hold a conversation with you.

The stigma that “SL’s elite” get is a pretty harsh one, and rather unjustified. While every society has its unpleasant, bigoted people, there is no reason to think that a few bad apples will spoil the whole bushel.

If you’ve never gone to Seven, and your primary reason of not going is because you don’t know anyone, or you’re afraid that people just will not talk to you because you’re not “ubercool”… go. At the end of the day, we’re all just people. We all crave interaction. Honestly — what is the worst that could happen? And is the worst worth risking the best?

I just find it funny that after I had that unfortunate lapse of judgement regarding The Loft and how much that snotty crowd despises me for what I did…that Colleen Desmoulin would go ahead and name a whole club after me a month after our little incident :) I really do appreciate the gesture, but having a club that boasts arrogance and worthier-than-thou attitudes kinda disgusts me.

  63. Iris Seale

    Nov 26th, 2008

I have a feeling that if you guys went to Seven you’d see that it’s not at all what you think it is. It’s really just people having a good time and they’ve got some really great dj’s. I’ve not noticed any elitism at all; everyone is chatting together and having fun, it seemed.

And Seven Farella…I think they named it Seven because there are seven people involved in the project…but way to be a self-centered C-word! Aren’t you banned? Lemme fix that for you.

I never comment on these things anymore, but I really feel the need to say something today.
I’m going to work ass-backwards on replies, sorry.

First off, Seven was named after Colleen’s SON. So, sorry to burst your bubble there farella, but hes a lot older than your avi & you don’t get to take credit for him either. That’s all I have to say to you :)

As far as reading secrets each week and constantly seeing posts about Seven, all I need to say is get over it already? SUL has proven to be a nice place to hang, controlled spamming, great music, and the only ppl that walk in their with snubbed noses are those that have previously bashed the place. I don’t think anyone needs to sit here and defend the lounge anymore, it’s defended itself.
    um, ya thats all.

  65. Colleen Desmoulins

    Nov 26th, 2008

Seven Farella, this must be the funniest thing I have seen all week. You must be out of your cotton-picking mind to think that I would name something I worked hard on after you. (btw what you did was not a lapse in judgment, your an adult and knew exactly what it was you were doing).
Not that I ever feel the need to explain anything, I will tell you and anyone that wants to know that Seven is the name of my son. The number Seven is supposed to be God’s number and means completeness.

I am not sure where you see Seven boasting the attitudes you described, but I am not here to argue with you about that, whether you like Seven or not everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that, most of all I am pretty sure I have no interest in what disgusts you.

My avie is clearly Black and nothing near a SLebrity. I am always greeted, talked to, and bid a farewell when I go to Seven. I can’t say that about many other places. I never got the feeling that people were talking about me behind my back or any other absurd misconception that people have come up with. Visit the place, converse with the crowd, then judge.

I have never been to ” seven”. Hence I hardly go to any club, but we decided to pay a ” visit”.
I found myself there with a few friends in a red fenced area, cramped up, and you have to pay what 165L to get in there or a monthly VIP, 1200 some L’s some fee?!
If you want to keep noobs out, yes thats a good way, contest cheaters, good way too, but it seems there are shops there and then some and YOU have to pay to go IN?! Wow.. people , just wow. Shakes head and moves along.

  71. Colleen Desmoulins

Noor take a good look again, or at least wait until you have rezzed. There are absolutely no shops at Seven.

I really do not get what the big fuss is about seven. If you dont like it, then dont go. I know, I know, such a phrase is so stupid and over-used, but its true. Its ONE club, in secondlife.. Whats the big deal? So what if you have to pay….um..do you think their tier for whatever land they are on is free? Hello!

Its not like they can sell beverages to make some cash.

I dont think i will ever go there for various reasons, but before trying to “review” something and talk shit about it maybe you should ATLEAST visit it first, go under an alt if you need to.

I feel bad for secret #5. Im sure if she or he could see what the people behind the avatars look like in RL, they would probably laugh at themselves for feeling that way. T-hEe

The reason for all of the seven hype is because bad publicity is still good publicity. You cant tell me that the owner(s)? of the place hate that its being talked about here. I’m sure its driving new people in that they’ve never had.
After hearing what some have to say I wont be one of them that go. Not that anyone cares lawl

Maybe Shopping Cart Disco should do an event at Seven Ultra Lounge and then we can all have a reason to check it out as a group. (I keep meaning to go, it looks like a gorgeous build, but I’m always too busy when I’m actually in world :( )

Dear Miss #5: Seven Ultra Lounge caters who anyone who is willing to pay the fee to join the music and the amenities, and abide by our short list of House Rules. As a staff member @ the lounge, I personally invite you to 7UL to check it out for yourself.

Here @ the SUL we are currently stomping it out in an industrial underground room with laid back and kind company. With 4 rooms, multi genre DJ’s, we don’t cater to anyone specific…we cater to all. If you have ever been concerned that Seven is an uptight club where only the in crowd hangs out we invite you to come and take a look ;o) You will be delighted and surprised ;o)

#5 Its easy to get the wrong impression especially where 3rd party info is concerned….but I went there and have been going for some time now and I dont consider myself “elite” in the slightest.

However, i honestly haven’t been given anything but a warm welcome from the people at Seven.
Of course, just like any other club there are people who will converse with you and people who are quiet. doesn’t prevent me from trying it out and getting the chance to meet the ones who will.

just my $2L worth but ya never know for sure til you try:)

  83. Bianca Darling

    Nov 28th, 2008

Seven is located next to caLLie’s 3 islands because I am a co- owner of SUL and caLLie is my SL daughter and RL best friend. For that reason, one of those sims, the one Seven is on, has been given to me. It just seemed to be a better idea to have us on a class 5 sim, so we moved. Nothing more cryptic than that ;o) Now come boogie! Rawr!
