    I don’t know, I married an American! ;P

But seriously, I don’t know, I think that most Italian men associate the internet with sex, which is bad.
But let me tell you, they’re not ALL like that, trust me! :)

#2 – I know what you mean, but I choose not to be popular because I don’t care to make second life my first life

#5 I noticed the same thing, but once I just told some that I was annoyed, I know have a few male Italian friends that I think are the nicest people in the world.

#8 and 9, I assume are talking about the same thing, the Flickr stream that was removed a few days ago. I personally think people are making too big of a deal out of it, the person behind the stream was making fun of pixels made to look like clothing, not the person behind the screen. Maybe the people who were jabbed at will see there is room for improvement and improve, no harm done.

@1 – Awww that made my heart melt!
@2 – You aren’t alone! I’ve felt exactly the same way before <3
    @3 – Don’t lose hope!
@5 – I’m Italian, and unfortunately I’ve had the same experiences… So, on the behalf of Italy, Sono spiacente!
@6 – I LOLed so hard OJ came out of my nose (the beverage, not the man) :)
@7 – You’ll find her when you least expect it :)

Oh snap! Jazz clubs! Another place I can go be alone in a crowd.

#2 – I know exactly what you mean – wtf? It’s funny. I noticed when I first joined SL that whenever I took my beautiful blonde avatar out for a stroll, no one talked to me. I didn’t start meeting people until I changed into a very “girl next door,” cute, but not beautiful avatar. I guess men in SL are just like men in RL – intimidated by beautiful women. LOL Now that I’m a crazy goth/neko eclectic mix bee-atch, *no one* talks to me! But I have on occasion, dressed up like a fashion plate and gone to the jazz clubs. Yep – not one “bite.” What’s a girl to do? Drag out the old “girl next door” noob avatar I guess. LOL

#2: Guys at jazz clubs only EVER approach you if you look like a noob. I think they have some sort of creepy ‘I wanna be the guy who takes your SL virginity’ fetish. If you seriously want them to approach you, make an alt and put her in full-perms freebies. Blondeness may help. You’ll soon discover they’re not worth talking to.

#8: she asked for it by making that crazy post about people stealing her ideas. If you don’t puff yourself up then they won’t feel the same need to pull you down.

#9: I don’t care who was behind it. I would just like to thank them for the lulz.

    #1 Best secret EVER!

  11. Stella

    Nov 16th, 2008

    1. Awww that’s so sweet.

    2. I don’t do jazz clubs but this is something that happens at every club. There’s a couple reasons. 1. Some people are intimidated by great looking avi’s so they feel they’d have a better chance with noobs. 2. Noobs sometimes have no fear, I get IMed to dance by them but not as much by vet SLers. 3. Some people actually create alts to dance with them at clubs. You need to ask and stop waiting to be asked.

    3. I wish SL would go back to the beginning when this stuff was just for fun. Tired of people stabbing others in the back for L’s and fame. I realize that’s not coming. Waiting to see how OpenLife works out.

    4. I live by it.

    5. I’m American I notice it more from Americans than any other group.

    8. I think we’re all adults here. When celebs where designers clothes to awards shows critics pan their outfits. I’ve never heard of a designer getting pissed and threatening a show or channel to not mention their outfit on a fashion recap show. Some of the people featured on the photostream were good sports about it. (and no it wasn’t my photostream).

    9. Huh?

  12. Isara Beaumont

    Nov 16th, 2008

@Desiree – yes, I had similar problems.. dress fashionably, and the guys will run away. But maybe you overlook an important point: in RL, it’s often/usually the woman who makes the first step.. be it a smile, or some other unobtrusive hint. I guess many/most men would like to be assured that they’re welcome.. and thinking about that, it’s maybe not a bad thing :)

The problem as I see it is that this ‘giving a hint’ thing doesn’t work that well in SL… so “girl next door” probably makes it easier for men because they think it’s less likely they will be turned down.

  13. Stella

    Nov 16th, 2008

    2. Oh I forgot another one: Noobs will dance with people without asking. I’ve gone to clubs and turned on my dance hud but started reading blogs. Not paying attention to the screen I look up and a noobs dancing with me and holding a 1 sided conversation.

    Thanx!

  15. Just Me

    Nov 16th, 2008

    1. That is very sweet.
    2. Noobs will dance, partner, chat, etc with anyone.
    3. Good luck with that.
    4. Integrity and the internet go together like oil and water. Isn’t that what SL taught us?
    5. Last week its Brasil. This week Italy. I wonder what country we will pick on next week.
    6. Nothing wrong with that. People calling things like the see them is important for those with inflated egos.
    7. Great picture of “blue skies”.
    8. This could be about 2 things: the flickr or crazy lady’s accusation. Either way, I agree with it.
    9. I was lead to believe I was the only one who thought she was. I guess it goes to show you that she was not as careful as she thought. I am surprised this was let in given the whole “no name” thing but I guess the subtly was lost on them.
    10. Talk about egos. I have no clue if this is about Truth or not but to think so is a tad egotistical. The word truth can apply to many situations in SL that have nothing to do with the person named Truth.

The Truth will set you free. (No, this does not mean Truth will show up and set you free because it has nothing to do with him.)

I have no idea. I even tried to see if there was a code.

@Stella, it is coded but I got it. Maybe that is because I thought the same thing myself so it jumped out easier at me.

  20. blahblahblahwhatever

    Nov 16th, 2008

#1 is so cute. But it scares me when ppl refer to SL partnership as marriage.. Unless its Rl marriage, then this is one exception where i think it was OK to not do it in person. that was so sweet if it is. how cute!

#3 I have noticed the same thing! Regarding more action dressed as a noob. I honestly think some ppl are intimidated by well dressed ppl. It would explain why a very very shitty low prim furniture store makes about 3k USD a year (so they say) while other, BETTER, furniture stores, make not even close to that. Same self esteem concept, you buy or approach what you feel fits you. If I knew who you were in world, id send you an IM.

    #6. lol

#8. Do you mean the creator of those clothing should feel bad, or the SCD author who posted it? If the creator should feel bad for all the tomatoes she has thrown at american designers, I agree with your entry. if you mean the SCD author should feel bad..nope! That girl has a loud mouth and trashed other designers, shes getting back what she opened her doors to imo.

#10 if this is about truth again, as much as we all fucking hate him for the shit he has done..and continues to do. Why bring up a subject that has caused everyone to get very riled up and aid in the closing of comments? I hate the guy and hope he fucking never logs on again, so do many other people, but lets stop giving him so much attention.

  37. Sad but true ...

    Nov 16th, 2008

Elsyium Eilde is many things. I know her as the photographer who took a large deposit from me for a photoshoot, didn’t keep the appointment, then muted me when I asked for a refund. God only knows what else she’s done.

  38. Stella

    Nov 16th, 2008

Have no idea who the Ely… person is so when I coded it, the word seemed like a jumble.

I read the blog post. Several people defended the flickr page saying that it was from the fash feeds. I didn’t catch the last day so I don’t know what evolved on that day. Would be interesting to see how it would be viewed if the photostream owner created his own pics. Would their be less complaints? There needs to be a medium, not so much nasty but without kid gloves.

  39. elysium

    Nov 16th, 2008

perhaps the real person behind that flickr feed will stand up and be a man so I don’t have to take the rap for this anymore?

perhaps the person who sent in #9 should feel like an idiot for purposely finding a way around the SCD rules, which are put in place specifically so this kind of drama does not take place… who is abusing a public forum now?

I’m glad that most people here had no idea what #9 was referring to, and it’s pretty pathetic that you can’t let it go.

about #9 and somewhat at nunya – thats alot of work just to call someone out! I was part of that flickr but for some reason mine was taken down (I didnt ask for it to be) and I wish I had that kind of time on my hands to create a word puzzle like that. I personally didnt care that I was posted but I know of others who’s feelings were very much hurt. Since I dont personally know Elysium, I do want to say I hope she is being truthful in denying her involvement. And based on her openess in her comments while the Flickr group was active, I tend think she would be one to say “hey mfers, I am behind this flickr – bite me if you dont like it”. In other words, I believe Elysium.

  45. Polero

    Nov 17th, 2008

About #9 – I’m not particularly bothered about the actual content of it, but the format – I have to agree that the presentation was good – love the puzzle aspect, and hope that more of the SL Secrets will follow suit. I don’t mean that people should slag others off in a puzzle format, but it was fun deciphering it (would have been easier if I’d realised that Elysium thingie was a name! Never heard of her, myself, until now – sorry, Elysium!).

Thanks from me too for turning comments back on again. And yes, Iris, if you’re watching IP addresses at all, am now in a different country than I was – I get about a bit :) Not that I think I’m siginificant enough for anyone to check up on, just saying in case I look like I’m impersonating myself…

    1) Aw! That is so sweet!

    2) Preach it, sister. But you know what? What I’ve lacked in quantity of come-ons, I’ve made up for in quality of partners (in the aggregate… two out of three is damn good). Granted, I chatted them up more specifically at first, but I went for it. Find a better club and go for it!

    5) When I was still getting come-ons on a semi-regular basis, I found Italian men to be the most polite. The rudest men I ever dealt with were American or Dutch (still bemused by the Dutchman… he said I was tall, to which I could only agree, then he decided I was a bitch… this was the guy who had perfected the art of “walk right up to me and stick his face in my breasts” calling me a bitch… I laughed and TPed out of the mall).

    6) I’ll buy that it’s him when I see someone talk about rubbing falafel on an av in the shower.

3 and 7) Here’s to better times for you both.

  47. Dun Dun Dunnnnn

#9 is not definitely NOT Elysium so leave her alone.

I don’t personally know Elysium, but I DO know who was responsible for the Worst Crap Flickr Stream and I’m not telling. You all think you are so clever, but it’s someone who you would never expect ;)

    Those Porca Puttana Merda

Wow, Noor Loam, you’ve managed to sound extremely rude and to write something completely wrong (grammatically speaking) in the same sentence, congrats!

That said, I sadly have to agree on #5 in most cases -______-

#9 drama of the moment: So to be clear, it’s OK to support sites dedicated to mocking people who make poor in-world fashion choices, as long as no one questions the selling and promotion of said fashions? Noted.

*hugs Ely, who is blunt and opinionated, but never hides her views. If the site would have been hers, she would have promoted the heck out of it, and included her own pics, lol.

  52. Rouge Darcy

    Nov 21st, 2008

Well, that’s an exclamation (a pretty vulgar one), it doesn’t really make sense with “those” before it, unless you meant something I haven’t grasped correctly… :/

  53. elysium

    Nov 21st, 2008

lol ok, i was trying so hard to pretend i was no longer checking these comments but Feles is too good to me for me not to pounce on her publicly and shower her with kisses.

So, while I am here, I’d also like to thank Elizabeth Hallstrom for believing me and Dun Dun Dunnnnn, who, even though won’t mention the real person behind it, is at least willing to say it wasn’t me.

*sticks up the middle finger to anyone who had the nerve to blame me based on opinion with no facts to back it up… then does the happy dance because she knows her friends love her* come on Feles, you know the dance, dance with me!
