Dear #2: Nothing wrong with Ms. Cyrus’s music. I saw the Ramones, Bad Religion, Beastie Boys,White Zombie, and Misfits (amongst other pop bands) and I have Lindsey Lohan’s album on my ipod as well and I actually like it (along with soundtracks to movies like 13 going on 30.)
Anywho, everyone does it.

If #7 is about an outfit in SL inspired by RL who cares?

Yeah whoever wrote these is dumb. I know tons of people that specifically love one type of music, and always love that, but they have other genres or singers they like that are totally different and they don’t hide it or anything. These days it’s cool to show you have an open mind. Who’s writing this stuff, some either under 20 or over 50 year old? I work in the music business and we have hardcore metal or punk or goth people who will say they love Katy Perry for example. Easily admit it. I’ve never known anyone to close off their interests or not defend something when others put it down. Maybe it’s a trait of certain types of SL cowards but even my SL friends are outspoken. These things get lamer and lamer. Initially a fun thing to read, but it’s getting stale and old now. Come up with something new and different if you have the imagination to.

4. I sometimes think the same thing. Some of the outfits I see on some blogs look like they came from Freebie Dungeon. That’s not bad if the site is targeting fresh noobs but I’ve seen some that are supposed to be “high fashion”. Who has a link for this?

Number 7 amuses me because it’s so utterly anonymous. I have the feeling we may see more secrets with just random pictures, just because people want to drive the commentators nuts. Perhaps its an outfit that was reproduced in SL; perhaps it refers to the numerous emo/punk/goth kids that play SL to compensate for their social lives; perhaps it has to do with Sour Skittles, based on that facial expression.
The world may never know.
3 makes me happy because of the image and the added mustache. I think the caption enhanced the marketability of that hair style and the clothes.
10 looks like Lucy’s going to blow chunks, so I’m guessing that he’s dumping her ass for your personality.
Honestly, if she’s a high-horsed bitch, I hope she makes that face, too, before falling down back to earth.
I think we should have left comments perpetually on or have left them off- some of the comments are really dumbed down. “They all suck because yada-yada is totally wrong” has reached the end of its originality, don’t cha’ think?

#4: YES IT IS FUNNY. That crap has no place on the fashion feeds. It’s either identikit slutwear you can find in literally hundreds of clubmall outlets, or stuff by people who are still learning and in a year’s time will be cringing that they ever released their amateur productions for public consumption. Whatever it is, it ain’t fashion.

Is it bad I like the idea of a huge sweater collar that could swallow my head whole? I’m not particularly fond of the sweater presented in #4, but the idea has potential. Or that could be the insane fashion-artist-psycho side of me talking.

#2 – I can relate. I mainly listen to classic rock, punk, blues and metal. I used to hide my Kate Bush obsession from my friends.
#4 – Ha! I am glad that SL residents are mostly positive and supportive of creativity, but wish there was a very forward fashion critic in SL.
#5 – Before SL existed I used to participate in HTML chat room Gor. I guess nothing has changed.
#9 – I would like to watch. Heh.
#12 – I totally agree, there are some amazing visual artists on SL.

Professions of love or thanks may be ’secret’ if a.) the one that is loved doesn’t know, b.) the professor of love wishes to remain hidden [#12], c.) an aspect of the love is hidden from one or more people [#1 and 9], or d.) some combination of the above or ‘other’ perspective. I suggest checking out ‘Post Secrets’ for more examples, as many are in the this line of thought.

Well, consider how much of SL Fashion imitates what we actually see in real life- sure, it’s original, but the major labels and businesses sell (primarily) formal or casual attire. We do not often see robotic space suits or witch cloaks in the feeds (except for Halloween). Likewise, there are primarily hetero- or homosexual human couples on SL. Strange relationships may seem more prominent because that’s what makes the news and catches the eye. It follows in the same line of “It bleeds, it leads”.

Can you, in a throwaway gmail, email the secret to Iris then email me your EXACT steps- if that is true, that creating a simple jpg image makes it too big for upload here- that’s a BUG in gimp and needs to be reported. I’d be happy to do the replication and bug report.
I’d normally not worry, but the gimp devs totally helped me out 7 years ago with a true type font bug in gimp over IRC. I’ve been indebt since.

when I say exact steps I mean how you were creating the image, then saving it (number of layers etc) so I can replicate bug.

I could have written the same exact letter word for word with just the pronouns reversed. I met my soulmate in SL when I didn’t even believe there was such a thing as soulmates. It’s been 8 months now since he ended everything, and we were together for 15 months in SL and 4 months in RL. It still hurts, and I fight back the tears every single day.
