SLsecret is going live!

When we were planning for the big move to new servers, we all had ideas about new things we wanted to do. SLsecret was my idea.
The idea is that I wanted to put together a program like PostSecret, where people send their secrets in on postcards and those cards are published on the web and in books. Many of the things people send in are heartbreaking, uplifting and works of art in their own right. Basically, I wanted to issue the same challenge to the SL community.
There were some hurdles to overcome; we had to figure out how we could keep the secrets on-topic while still providing a forum for discussion, as well as how to keep users completely anonymous when they uploaded their secrets.
What we came up with was a basic set of rules and a protected upload site that logs no info, not even a user’s IP. You can thank Kess for that one! Rules first:
1.) Images must be 600×450 and under 2MB and must be a jpeg image (e.g. filename.jpg)
2.) Must concern Second Life or illustrating a secret using Second Life.
3.) It’s ok to be an asshole, but be a smart asshole.
4.) This is anonymous. Do not sign your name on your secrets.
5.) Respect the intellectual property rights of others. I’m not going to natnanny the pictures you use, but remember that the people who took the pictures own the copyrights on them.
You will upload your secrets here: http://shoppingcartdisco.com/upload/
Like I said earlier, all secrets are kept here on SCD servers and none of your data is stored when you upload.
Here’s an example secret, made by me:

I’ll be posting the secrets every Sunday, just like on the PostSecret site. ALL secrets will be published, as long as they follow the rules (ie: not too big, not signed, etc.) Comments will always be left open for discussion of the week’s secrets.
This gives you a week, kiddos. Jump into your favorite image editing program and show us what you can do!
