As of October 22nd, 2009, ninety-five Transgendered people were murdered for simply living as who they were. Today, til 11:59 PM SLT, there is a Transgender Day of Remembrance. The next vigil will be at 7PM SLT.
This is the day that the world sets aside to remember the victims of violence and hatred simply because they were transgendered. The gathering will take place at The Transgendered Suicide Memorial.

The Second Life TDOR is significant for several reasons; it affords any person the ability to participate and contribute to the TG community regardless of presentation or transition status or fear of outing, it is inherently international spanning continents and time zones and it has the capacity to reach a large and influential audience worldwide. At the in-world location there is a board to click on for more information, and a white candle for the vigils.

I wish I’d been warned before the event actually happened; I would have attended.
