#1 – Trajan IS epic and Papyrus IS exotic. The others I agree with.
#3&#4, I'm sorry for your losses. I hope time will heal your wounds.
    And BRAVO to #9

    Wow, deep "secret" No. 1.

No. 3 is sad – my sympathies. *hugs*

No. 4 is sad for a different reason – but I can somewhat relate. *hugs*

    No. 6 lols

No. 8 please refer to secret No. 1 – despite the complain that some of that text is less than exciting, it sure as hell makes it easier to read!

    1) And you put me to sleep font/layer effect Nazi
    2) Listen to the wise number 1 and get a font I can read
    3) Quit smoking pot. You only think it makes you sound wise.
    4) Move on bitch.
    5) You I like
    6) True dat
    7) True dat 8) I cannot read this and I will not try. You choice of font and color is worse than your choice of a double cheeseburger and Slimfast shake cause it will so cancel that 600 calories out you fat fucking cow
    9) Thanks for your opinion, now STFU.

No. 3 is about a blogger who died this week so I think that comment is a little misplaced?

      The rest, agree.

#2 is another frustrated designer who doesn't get to play with the cool kids. Focus more on doing good stuff rather than waisting your energy with envy-ing around.
#6,7,8 and yet some more frustrated guys
#9 i thought it was about drama in the first place, now you say it was about content theft????

6, 7, 9… Eh, I was expecting this. No, I was expecting worse! My reaction is that it's silly to kick someone when they're already down, and that #9 clearly didn't read any of the uplifting, thoughtful, interesting things that people had to say on all sides of the issue. Now I'm moving on to happier things, like promoting good content. ♥

#9 seems like the most reasonable and likely thing I've read on secrets in a while.

#1: add to that MATISSE IS NOT READABLE, and send a copy to #8.

#9: I agree. I can't believe anyone seriously thought anything was going to have an effect on content theft. If people CAN steal stuff they WILL steal stuff. There is no point appealing to their better nature because if they had one they wouldn't be stealing or distributing stolen stuff in the first place. I am so over all these little protests and protests against protests and protests against protests against protests. It makes for very boring reading. The only people who can do anything about the situation are the Lindens and guess what, they don't give a crap.

COULD PEOPLE PLEASE USE READABLE FONTS!!! or could SCD make a *larger when you click on them* option? GAH!

    1. As a fellow fontwhore, sure I can sort of agree – but you can't control how people are, that might be their way of being creative. And don't you dare diss Trajan. Trajan will kick your ass in a bar fight and he'll even get Comic Sans to giggle maniacally and beat you to death with a hyphen.
    2. You can't force someone to be your friend, and you can't get pissy if they don't want to be your friend. You're coming across as a m,onumental whiner right now, so I'm guessing maybe thats why? You're entitlement issues are showing, you might wanna get some cover-up.
    3. She will be missed by those that knew her, and loved her.
    4. Moving on is one of the best things you can do right now – then you'll never need to remember the pain. You should find some new friends, people you can trust and move on with your life.
    5. The more you SLSecret about not caring, the more I know you care really, you're just being a twat about it.
    6. People read stuff like SCD for the drama, SLSecrets and drama/news posts get more comments and hits than any other. Pretending you don't read SCD for the drama is like saying you only read Playboy for the riveting articles on climate change.
    7. You can't be honest with the person you're directing that at? Maybe you are also poorly informed – you're certainly not honest.
    8. You win the awards for worst background, worst font choice and most use of the word 'sycophant'.
    9. You are right – it is up to us to work together – to be unified and to make sure we don't let our personal opinions and belief affect our relationships.

I'm sooooo happy that someone has finally pointed out the design rules about fonts, now I'll know when I break the rules.

It is not true that people who steal will steal no matter what. The incidence of theft fluctuates in real life based on cultural and economic factors and it makes sense that those factors would play a role in Second Life as well.

Certainly, there are a small percentage of people who are criminal at heart and will always steal. They can only be affected by actions by Linden Lab and improved technological methods to protect against theft.

Many however use stolen content out of ignorance – not knowing it is stolen in the first place. Educating them about theft and about when to suspect theft can reduce their usage of stolen items. Another group of people are the thoughtless ones who think of Second Life as an anarchist paradise. Connecting theft to the real consequences for ordinary people can reshape their worldview.

It is sad that disagreement about tactics could not be discussed without resorting to extreme exaggerations. It is not true that those who opposed the tactics are pro-theft. It is also not true that viable SL stores would be destroyed by the tactics. Those sort of extreme declarations leave no room for discussion or reasonable disagreement – which can lead to future compromise and consensus.

1 – so what would you the God(dess) of All Things Font recommend, just so we can bow down to your incredible wisdom?
4 – try to move on, yes?
7 – you've lost me around ' maybe your list was true with your store'
8 – the font is fail. Total fail. Message lost.
    9 – couldn't agree more

#4 I was in your shoes for a day too long and yes I too dropped mutual friends but guess what – I am now very happy (and still single too, haha) . Overtime some of the friends came back and now I know what true friends they are. Hugs to you and I believe the day will come that you will say also "meh" if you run into he or she or him or her, eeeek grammar errors.

    1. I think we have bigger fish to fry in SL right now.

    2. I like 50L clothes. I don't know what your issue is.

    4. Why care if they're happy or not?

    5. You care, if you really want to show you don't care try muting them.

    6. It's all entertainment.

    7. You know the best way to get your point to someone in SL is still an IM.

    8. You lost me at the middle I'm not trying to reat that sycophant nonsense that I can't see.

    9. If people really saw who was invovled in the stealing and then spreading SL would flip upside down. Hard to fight if you don't know what you're fighting.

Oh Haii number 1 – are you teaching at ACC now or what? I thought designing also involved your own ideas and thoughts – I didn't know there were "rules". LOL

  20. Lucilla Beaumont

    Nov 8th, 2009

#1: as far as I learned in college, "design rules" are things like composition, "don't use lime green font over bright yellow background" and other things like avoiding everything that was done in #8. All in all, things that shouldn't go together so as to avoid hurting eyes and making things unreadable – not black on white rules like "this font is forbidden. For EVERYTHING."
Really, let me see your graphic design degree, gotta tell people to avoid that university that you attended to. (or perhaps you don't have a degree – gee, thinking too high of yourself much?)

#1 Everyone is entitled to their opinion but these things have no hard and fast rules. Get over yourself.
#2 Spend as much time designing something as you did designing that whiny secret and maybe you'd sell more stuff.

You know, it DOES say "Jap Crap" if you cross your eyes and stand on your head in order to read the font. :(

Translation of number 8 – including all spelling and grammatical errors. XD

You and your sycophant pals insulting the entire community wanting to restrict the right to running a business to you and your sycophant pals is old and tired and filled with fail.
Your stolen from internet pics on prims and jap crap suxks ass. That is why your "business" sucks. Why don't you just quit and delete all that crap so we don't have to track the ip owners down so they can sue your scummy ass to oblivion.

The more I read it, the more sense it doesn't make – but at least it doesn't hurt my eyes now :D

  31. Just quietly...

    Nov 12th, 2009

I think it’s interesting for all the wrong reasons that a secret about fonts draws so many comments, when a loving tribute to a young lady we all knew that died this week goes barely noticed.

    Enjoy your priorities people.
