She has been copying inworld designers for some time, not enough to be DMCA’d for it, but other designers are aware of her tactics. When confronted with this info, she gives the same pat refrain you heard.

Wasn’t she involved in some other shady issues not too long ago? Under an alt?

I love the store She Wants Revenge, actually. I’ve bought skins there before too.

    Sigh. :(

Can I play devil’s advocate and say that probably Revenge had no clue that these skins were ripped. And yes, there are a lot of people running around foaming at the mouth trying to find ripped items just to give their SLife meaning. Don’t get me wrong – I believe that if you discover something that you think is ripped, you should look into it. But I also know of some fanatics who seem to constantly be on a witch hunt and are often breathlessly talking about their latest “ripped” discoveries. It makes me tired. I imagine creators might have to deal with these types often. That might explain Revenge’s “get away from me” attitude.

Um, ok that was my feeble attempt to cover my eyes and ears in denial. I like that store. I don’t want that designer to be a crook.

Hey, I don’t understand the pictures. It’s the clothes in the pictures that look the same. The skins look nothing alike.

I need to quit trying to read SCD in the morning before caffeine kicks in.

OMFG. So if someone doesn’t have a store in SL you can steal from them? UGH.

Actually a little while back, I noticed this store was selling PXL skins too. Either this person needs to really be more careful about the full permission stuff they’re buying, or they’re ripping people off and trying to play innocent.

    Necro-shit-stirring.

So a year ago, someone put on their skin superhero cape, and went after the “evil” Revenge, to save the work a famous digital artist I never heard of.

I don’t support third party initiated witchunt bullshit, especially when the accuser is anonymous.

Anyway, the only time I support the original artist, is if they are the ones making the complaint, otherwise it is hearsay.

This crap, is not going to persuade me not to shop at SWR, although SWR clothes are not my style.

The accuser name was removed because it was not necessary information, really – unless you want to witch-hunt them in response.

Revenge Gears is selling stolen content from another virtual world, admittedly. What more proof do you need Dusky?

(And this comes up today because this person is still in SL selling items of this nature)

Oh come on Tenshi, you can do better than this – I am struggling to understand what point you’re trying to make here. A year ago someone had this conversation with Revenge. What was the outcome? Was a DMCA filed? Was it ever proven that Revenge was knowingly selling stolen skins? What about the person who claimed to be the creator and sold them to Revenge? Any follow up there?

Now, a year later, because you got a notecard, you show us pics of DE Designs and Revenge..erm…’homages’ to them. Are these recent releases? Has Doc Eldritch been told about this? Is this news? Is this any different from Minnu ‘educating’ us about fashion by copying runway styles? There are valid questions to be asked here, perhaps in connection with LL’s announcement about brand integrity.

As this piece stands, it appears to me to be an attempt to target one individual through gossip and rumour. I was surprised when I saw the byline was yours, tbh, Tenshi. I expect better of you.

DE Designs, do people actually still shop there?

  10. Knowing

    Aug 12th, 2009

Aprendiz Aya aka Marcela Zabelin aka Crystall Mathy aka Revenge Gears aka Wendy Diesel and who knows how many other alts at this point. No one will ever stop her or take her down. LL has closed her accounts over and over and she keeps coming back. You like the clothes so you don’t mind her stealing or selling stolen BIAB stuff. That’s just great. Glad you all love her store. Try googling some of those names and you’ll get some interesting results, but if you don’t care cause the clothes are cute, it doesn’t matter does it? One of the most infamous thieves in SL history and it’s ok cause she sells nice stuff, perfect!

Dusky: you may not be familiar with Bergkvist’s work but a lot of people in the Sims 2 community would recognise an Enayla skin in a heartbeat. I’m not at all surprised they’re getting ripped.

    Tenshi -

I am old school, I am not a proponent of middle men meddling in shit. Go straight to the source, if “you” (in general) feel the source is being ripped. Let the source handle it, let the source point the finger through the media.

I don’t know Revenge, or Revenge’s history, and I don’t shop at SWR anyway.

This is how I look at this:

If Revenge is stealing – fuck him/her.

If Revenge is innocent in this case, fuck the nosy ass third party accuser.

OK, that’s sums it up for me, because there isn’t shit I can do about any of it.

i’m not sure if this comment will go though, but as a poser user, i’ve recognized several of DE designs’ outfits as poser content that i actually purchased from renderosity.. i have never asked to see if they were the same people who make the content, but if not, sounds like both parties are thieves.

sorry ment to include a link http://www.runtimedna.com/images/P/Infamous.jpg that outfit’s textures are on an old outfit by de designs which is in my inventory, but i am unable to log into sl due to some computer problems. i’m pretty sure DE still sells it..

This isn’t the first time Revenge Gears or one of her alias’ has been showcased on SCD, and I believe I’ve seen the name pop up on another site that’s soul purpose was to let the public know of ripped content being sold in world by a thief. Its sad that she’s still around making money off of other peoples hard work. I shopped at her store once, and once i heard that she sells stolen content, I deleted the outfit, and left the SWR group.

My favorite quote of the convo is…
[2008/04/05 6:30] Revenge Gears: no , i dont make any money

Really? you haven’t made ANY money off of the stolen content you sell? Then how come your group has SOOOO many people in it. Why even have a store if you don’t make money. Don’t lie.

I can see these pictures and the textures aren’t the same, so Revenge didn’t rip-off. The style is the same, maybe both stores copied from a site/photo on internet. I will still buying in Revenge’s store, Thank you!

I don’t get it. Of all the things they could’ve ripped off, that’s what they chose?

  22. admin

    Aug 12th, 2009

Apparently, Revenge is too busy in real life to bother making anything creative to sell in SL so he/she just copies off of other people and throws it up to sell. This is from a conversation tonight that I just read.

I’m sad to say I was the reseller on the juicy mirabella sim.. However, I had no idea any of this was going on.. I received a IM from Gorgeous, and immediately took it down.. Even if revenge is innocent, the possibility that she is stealing is a risk I don’t want to take.

this is old news, but not quite.
Old news because i remember getting a notecard about those two outfits late last year i think, maybe through the DE subscribo, or fashcon…
i also remember seeing a “neko” messenger bag in her shop that i’ve seen in others. The _exact_ same one.
And she used to (maybe still does, i dunno. i dropped out of it a while ago) send free stuff to people in her group (one time she even sent a big box full of hair…), so that might vouch for the numbers

so yeah, “not quite” because its still going on. Do what Knowing says and google all those names, lots of stuff there.

It baffles me as to why that store is so popular. Besides the constant talking about how she steals content, the quality is pretty crap to boot.

Regardless, shame on all of you willingly pulling the wool down over your own eyes. There are so many *quality* designers in world, why would you patronize someone like this.

  29. Knowing

    Aug 13th, 2009

If you think this person is innocent, why don’t you tell that to Hart Larsson of PXL Creations who was ripped off by her and Nerolus Mosienko of Homicide who closed up shop a year and a half ago cause Revenge stole most of his store. Ask Helawyne Vindaloo who’s stolen boots she was selling on SLex. Oh and check out this article about the skin fair last year http://gridexpectations.wordpress.com/2008/03/01/why-i-will-not-be-attending-skin-fair-2008/ all about the stolen Naughty skins.
Once you see all that evidence and talk to those victims, if you can still have a clear conscience giving her your money, then that’s on you. Denying facts so you can still buy pretty clothes and support a person who time and again has stolen from respected creators is imo pathetic. But she is the SL Bank of Brazil so I suppose you could say you’re doing it on the basis of international good will.

I haven’t had time to deal with reading everything but I saw some text about renderosity and no right to resell. Well that is not always true. Generally speaking if you buy something properly labeled as a “Merchant Resource Kit” then the license is royalty free commercial use. As for everything else you must read the artist’s license terms for each product. There are 2 files. One is a generic renderosity license and the other has the overriding license from the artist.

So a blanket statement that content from renderosity cannot be used commercially is wrong. It depends from product to product. Like how a certain skin had some “lips” that were debated. Well I have that lips set and I can use it on any skin I want to and sell that skin with those lips. I bought a royalty free commercial use license for them. (And a lot of eye/face makeups, tattoos, thousands of dollars of textures, etc. All in merchant resource kits.)

I think the top two suits are both kinda ugly but I actually like the rip of version better, the hood makes where the collar ends less awkward, to me both of the textering jobs look bad and they are never anything I would wear even if I were a guy. I don’t like how the side ribbons abd belts are just painted on, also the little pure thing, it looks lazy. The shape in the originals if probably what turns me off from it so much. The she wants revenge shape is much more attractive. The originals shape just looks so…..what is the word I am looking for….ah, noobish. It just looks so noobish.

I remembered this creepy video on youtube that was posted on the “Hunting Thieves of SL” (http://slthieveshunter.wordpress.com/)website last year that reportedly featured Revenge Gears (aka marcela carvalho). I giggled when I saw when clicking the link to youtube, that her account was suspended. Interesting..lots of content to steal on youtube too apparently.

You know, I’m not really going to get into whether she stoled designs or not because frankly I don’t have enough evidence to say, and neither does anyone else. You confront a store owner, tell her that the skins she purchased and paid for the right to sell are stolen, and then tell her they were stolen from someone who isn’t even on SL. You give her no proof at all, but your comment that the skins are similar (Not identical) and then you expect her to remove them.
Try that at walmart, I dare you. I can’t count how many Donna Karen rip-offs I’ve seen in there. Almost identical but with a few small changes, and on the racks they go! Legally. You think walmart would take them down just because you SAID they were stolen? Just throw away their investment and say ‘oh my bad!’ not bloody likely.
I don’t approve of stealing people’s work at all and I think if she had been offered proof that the skins she was selling were identical she should have removed them, but she wasn’t. “go look up her name and you will see she is very famous and that those skins look like hers” is not proof.
There is a phrase ‘nothing is new under the sun’ and if you look at famous real world designers you will see that is true. How many unique black dresses can be created before you are just doing something that’s been done before. Sometimes the little extra touches you add may be all that makes your piece unique. I certainly know I’ve seen plenty of famous designers with outfits darn close to some already created. Not to mention all the cheaper knock-offs in Kmart, Walmarts, Target.
Similar is not identical. You don’t see designers suing for copyright infringement very often because of that. You can be influenced by a style, or given an idea from an outfit–that doesn’t mean you are stealing the design.

We have removed the SWR reseller store on our sim.

The reseller is getting 2 months rent as a small compensation.
If anyone knows of a decent creator with a franchising system please let Bemy Braveheart know.

    :)
    Thanks
