Clem! you’ve made the big time!

This has been a fun drama to watch.. luckily for me chickens are a fun thing to watch and just hang around and relax. No special breeding for me or real special chickens so this hasnt really effected me, i feel bad for those it did though.

I have chicken coops but no chickens. Thought about buying some but after seeing this it’s not going to happen.

I’ve had fun with my chickens. They kept me in SL when I was ready to pack it up and move it out. I can’t in good conscious continue to give my money to a person who operates like this though. Now since this post, he has sent an “apology” notecard and retracted the food hostage message, but still. Eh.

All I wanted to do with my post was provide the whole story as it was happening so people would have clear and concise facts.

Now I must go kill my chickens. o.O

I really don’t understand these chickens, and I get that people are upset. But pulling the “I know lawyers!” card? Really?

@ A Nony Mouse – everyone on the interwebs knows lawyers, you should know that by now

This is my favorite part: “I have spoken with my colleges (we are a group of Insurance and Fraud Attorneys)”

aside from the typo, the ‘Fraud Attorneys’ made me laugh. Yes, even attorneys with their high salaries get angry over a few thousand lindens, or 20 bucks in real life.

I am going to make a huge omelet with all the eggs in my inventory, if anyone would like some, let me know.. I’ll make to order :) .. not sure about my chickens yet, don’t know if I see a bbq in their future .. the whole thing is a cluster-cluck for sure.

You should follow the drama that goes on just in the groups alone. More tyrants and drama queens than anywhere else in SL.

  16. [...] Good Eggs (Alphaville Herald) Bio-Warfare Attacks on Second Life Chickens (Alphaville Herald) SCD talks about it, with the normal less than stellar reportage. Further information over the latest drama is found [...]

I can understand that that Aeryn Rau chick is upset, as is many others, but the way she approached him was kind of stupid; and offensive for him im sure. I understand from the post he made some bad decisions but contacting a business owner and threatening them right off the bat like that is ridiculous IMO. To me thats like when people contact a creator and demand a refund instead of opening their mind to the possibility the faulty product could be fixed or replaced.. Its offensive.

Of course, i dont know the whole background story to this or what Sion has been doing so perhaps Aeryn Raus response was needed. But if not, she could have just asked what he planned on doing for the loss he has caused many customers.

Hmm this kind of reminds me of what is going on with those TMC gift card systems that no one can use anymore that were $52 USD a piece.

Hey Blah, pray tell what is happening with those TMC storecard systems?? *gets the popcorn maker ready*

Okay, I found a thread on XstreetSL which talks about a store card system bug which causes cards to ‘reload’ their values on weaker servers when they reset themselves, or when you transfer them, the value is reset, is this what you are talking about… https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=92939&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

just an fyi, ppl have been asking for their issues to be addressed for months. i finally today got a notecard from sion himself after sending one daily for 3 weeks. until serious action was taken, we were told “he works on HIS time line NOT anyone elses and he will NOT be addressing issues til he’s ready” (from his CR rep)

the above story is not actually what happened, but close enough, lol.

off to look at my glowy eggs :)

    Kind of…

There have been brazilian (Surprise, surprise) copybotters who have went around to many popular shops who use the system, cloned the cards (it also kept the TMC creators name on them), and go around selling them. For instance, they will sell a card worth $1,000 for only $200. So a customer can get $1,000L worth of product in your store by paying the copybotter only $200. So both the customer and coybotter walk away happy and the store owner gets nothing.

Many shops have been ripped off this way and many have taken down the system because of it.

Supposedly sales on the TMC system have been stopped until a more stable version is made.

    @ BYB
Thanks for the thread link, I only read the first page.

    Thats sad.

So a merchant tries to be accomodating by paying $52 for a secure gift card system so their customers can give gift cards out, the system ends up in the midst of a security glitch and said merchant has either been ripped off, or has their doors wide opon to a huge rip-off frenzy, merchant gives customers a week to use the card, and gets shit for it? Nice. Do the people commenting even realize how serious of an issue that bug is?!

Everyone I know pulled the system right when they found out about A) the bug. and B) the card copybotters. Yeah it sucks for those who now can not use the card, but such glitches could run someone out of business. Unlimited free product to anyone with the card.

Hopefully everything is fixed soon so merchants can offer the service again and those with the card can use it.

I’ve been asked a couple of times while shopping in stores that use that system if I wanted to buy a gift card at reduced price, all the while I thought that they were shop staff.

Blah wrote “Hopefully everything is fixed soon so merchants can offer the service again and those with the card can use it.”

I doubt any system can be 100% secure. There are always people trying to crack these things, and with LSL code its much easier.

*whew* I am soo glad I did not buy chickens, and passed up on the TMC card system in January.
