Greetings people of earth! Dancien here with yet another Thursday post. Recently Winter Jefferson and I were conversing about the men’s fashion scene and some of the clothing made for it when he issued a dare. So I was like “Oh yeah, I’ll totally do that.”. Well, those pictures are below the cut. But the dare got me thinking. It’s 2009, Second Life is six years old. Why is it that the men’s fashion options are still pretty much crap? And so I sat in the Dan Cave and thought about it…..
Delora’s (out of) the Closet - Week five
By Delora Starbrook, Haven Designs
Tenshi got mad at me for my photo quality the last couple of weeks. I hate to say it, but my video card is starting to go, and I get unreliable results from snapshots at times. Thankfully, this week, my images turned out slightly better, so here we go.
I promised you my favorites from the Hair Fair. I will deliver and I also have for you a very cute outfit from DuckNipple. I don’t know what odd twist of imagination caused a person to put together the words “duck” and “nipple” but I’m really happy its the name of a clothing store and not a fetish. Because my mind fears to tread where a fetish so named might lead. Besides, I don’t think that ducks even have nipples — which makes the combination both more unlikely and more frightening as a fetish. However I digress and I haven’t even gotten started yet — frightening in and of itself. Before I rant here’s a picture of me with a pot on my head.

Now I’m loathe to rant on an already dramalicious (isn’t that just the bestest made up word ever?) week but it so happens that trying on my loot from the Hair Fair has brought this issue to the forefront of my mind. Here it is, Saturday morning, and as I try on hair, I run into a resize script which is less than adequate because I don’t seem to be able to resize the individual prims. It is modifiable, however it is also no copy. So if I screw it up, I’m out a hair. But even worse than all of that, it talks to me. It tells me, every. fucking. time. I put it on, that I should not rez it on the ground. No, it is not from Magika (as I have stopped shopping at Magika because they started this crap and now I will not shop at Bizarre Hair either). Its not that I don’t like their hair - I do. Very much so. I would wear my old Magika hair that doesn’t have this no-rez script with pride — save that I deleted it all in disgust and so that no one could ask me where I got that fabulous hair. Hell I’d wear my Bizarre Hair items with pride if their resize scripts were worth a tinker’s toodleoo — and they did not have a no-rez script that annoyingly talks to me every time I attach it.
When Tenshi posted that Exodi was having a 50% off sale with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, I took a break from cussing the lag at the Hair Fair. Went over and picked up a few things. Most people would know Exodi for the skins, mostly recently the Shiloh skins. There are a several items available besides the skins that are worthy of note. RETRACTION, 11:14pm EST: Tateru added the link to her post at Massively, where it should be. Yay!
I’m kind of disgruntled this evening. Seems to be a lot of that going around lately.
Dan BROKE the Warner Brother’s story last night when he was online at about 7:00pm EST. Tateru caught wind of it, and tonight, Tateru regurgitates the post on Massively and convieniently forgets to link back to the ONLY place the story was happening at the time of origin.

Hey Tateru, thanks for usurping your material from SCD. You might want to credit Dan for originating this post. Last night. Waaaay before your post.
Yeah, Tateru. I’m willing to bet they wrote in linking to SCD. Applause.
We all know we read SCD for the drama. The fashion is awesome, the reviews are great, but we all, deep in our dark little hearts, love the drama. Well guess what, loyal SCD readers? Have I got some fresh-off-the-griddle drama today! Personal, butthurt drama from yours truly. Does anyone remember the Brutal Honesty blog?
It’s actually an old story. In 2007-2008, a blog was made solely for the purpose of harassing Tenshi and I (and some others). Why? Well, that was a little vague. There were three bloggers on it, Lothion Utorid, Tina Travanti and Lizbet Darcy. These were the alts of SL business owners. It was pretty quickly uncovered by some intrepid friends that the bloggers really were:
Luthion Utorid/Elexor Matador (He used to own a jewelry shop in SL)
Tina Travanti/Amelia Abernathy who now goes by Shelby Ziskey (Elexor’s girlfriend at the time)
Lizbet Darcy, well, we never knew who she was. Last week, Elexor decided it was time to make amends for his bad, bad deeds. He was apparently going back into business in SL and wanted a clean slate. He IM’d all the people Brutal Honesty picked on and asked, nay, begged, for forgiveness. He IM’d Tenshi and several other people and told them the identity of the third mystery blogger, the infamous Lizbet.
He made Tenshi promise not to post the chat log or reveal the blogger’s identity. Guess what? I’m not Tenshi.
Hit the cut to find out who the third blogger is and more about Brutal Honesty.

I finally got around to making my Hair Fair picks and sorting through quite literally HUNDREDS of hairs to do so. I had some basic priorities - they had to have decent textures, decent prim work, great concept. They also had to NOT have a black or silver hair in the demo. The reasoning behind this is that black and silver tend to hide major prim mistakes.
I’m also including my own personal notes so you can see if I had a comment about the hair or not. A few of them really stood out. Hit the jump for the .gif and list. Pay no attention to the numbers, but in case you’re interested, there ended up being about 40 hairs.
Remember, Hair Fair is open until JULY 6TH.
Now, I’ll admit. I get frustrated when I am surrounded by a bunch of Non English Speakers. But that’s why I have a translation hud. Apparently, the moderators at the Warner Brothers Sims haven’t figured those out yet. I had heard word of people getting banned for speaking their native tongue in the sim while apparently attending an event. And I thought to myself “Well, that’s a little crazy with all those translation huds out there” So, I went to investigate.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE BAD!!! CHILD AV’S GOOD!!
Most of the following chat logs are reposted with permission. The ones that aren’t, well I’m going to do that anyways.

We had a whole *lot* of readers write in about this one, which is why. It seems to matter a lot to the readers.
